The Dot Line RPS Digital Flash Bracket includes all the necessary components for using a shoe mount flash raised above the lens, off-camera. Included are the required off-camera shoe cord that maintains full TTL flash control (including i-TTL), even with the latest digital cameras, and an electronic cable release that allows triggering the shutter directly from the bracket.
Flash brackets are designed to increase the distance between the flash head and the lens in order to minimize the occurrence of redeye and to also reduce flash-shadows behind the subject. The rotating camera platform moves the flash centered over the lens both for horizontal and vertical compositions.
Compatible with Nikon Pro SLR cameras, e.g. D2 series, D1 series, D200, D100, F6, F5, F100, and MC-26 Adapter Cord.

I'm an amateur photographer using this bracket for indoor photo shoots where there are high ceiling. The bracket has a good design for getting the flash high off the camera for a better lighting coverage. But during a long photo shoot the bracket does get heavy after awhile when using bigger lenses for low light situations. But this will help build up arm muscles which isn't a bad thing. The only real cons I can say is that there should be a better way of locking the platform in the vertical and horizontal positions. The camera will move during a photo when you get a shot lined up. The safety foot on the bracket is only for a left handed setup. Right handed you will be using your expensive lens to help support the full rig when you set it down on a table.

This frame has nothing but problems.
(1) The camera platform will not lock into the vertical position. You have to hold it there!
In the horizontal position there is a very poorly engineered locking mechanism.
(2) The plug that attaches to the camera 10-pin socket for the handle-mount shutter release connects at a very bad angle. Instead of aligning up or down the camera body, it sticks out to the side. So if you shoot vertically, it is difficult to control the camera without touching/stressing the plug in the socket. And if you hit the plug, the remote will not work.
(3) The cord for the remote flash [attachment] started coming out within 10 minutes of being hooked-up!!
(4) If you mount a camera with a short zoom lens, and try to hold the rig by the padded handle, the frame will flex. I did not even try to use the rig with a 70-200 lens mounted.
If you are thinking about buying this setup, do yourself a favor and go look at one first. Try it out. You'll see, and you'll thank me.

Comments about RPS Lighting RPS Digital Flash Bracket for Nikon Pro SLR:
The bracket was easy to use and seems to be built well. Sometimes the camera is difficult to slide onto the bracket but with practice it becomes easier. Overall I'm very happy with the product.

Comments about RPS Lighting RPS Digital Flash Bracket for Nikon Pro SLR:
Interesting bracket for using ttl flash units, recently purchased Nikon SB-600 and needed something to hold flash off camera for general photographs. Nice unit although a bit cumbersome when looking to pack into a camera bag. Bought to supplement flash, I think it will work fairly well. Looks constructed very good and although I have not shot weddings in 20 years, looks like it would put up with that type of abuse

Comments about RPS Lighting RPS Digital Flash Bracket for Nikon Pro SLR:
The product is very customizable. The shutter release can be moved below the bracket to be more comfortable. I think more options could be added. The swivel of the camera is nice as it allows the trigger hand to stay stable, but, 1. The release lever is tight, in the vertical position, the release is not used, you have a manual lever to move to lock and release. When you go back to horizontal, the force needed to lock the release is too much. Finally the shutter release plug is very very poor. First it is plastic and does not have a thread to properly secure it to the camera. The plug feels cheap and likely to break. Also, the cord placement is bad, when the camera is in the vertical mode, the plug cord is pressed by the left hand and will cause a failure over time.

I'm a semi-pro wedding photographer and I needed something to aid me in holding a camera, flash and my Nikon 24-70mm lens. This bracket is a must it raises the flash so no more red eye. I looked at several of these brackets and this one was priced right and had the durability I needed. [...]

Comments about RPS Lighting RPS Digital Flash Bracket for Nikon Pro SLR:
This is my first flash bracket purchase and used it with a Nikon D300 and SB900 flash head. Asd you may knwo, the SB900 flash head is larger and heavier than its SB600 & SB800 "sisters."
I used it to shoot one wedding and had it attached to the camera for about 3 hours. After a while, it got quite heavy and cumbersome.
However, its usefulness far exceeded the weight factor and my group photos turned out lovely. I like the fact that it includes the TTL cord and remote shutter release cord. The shutter release cord IS hard to attach and feels like it will slip out, but it didn't and all went well.
It includes its own carry pouch and is assembled in two pieces. It attaches fairly quickly to the camera (again, this is something you need to practice several times before taking it on an important shoot). It does attach to a tripod, but you need a really sturdy one (mine was not).
Before the wedding, I used it every day to get used to the feel and mechanics of it and did several test shots in the church building to make sure the settings were what I liked. It takes some practice and time to get used to flipping it from portrait to landscape mode.
Overall, I am pleased.

I use this for wedding and other group photography. i like that the flash can telescope. i also like that an additional flash unit (slave flash) can be attached if needed.
Works great on a tripod, just make sure your tripod is weighted or very sturdy.

This is a nice unit that will work for events like weddings, graduation celebrations, etc.
If this is your primary type of photography you may want to invest in a stronger construction unit, but for every now and then type of work this is a great unit at a good price.

I've tried numerous brackets and this one seems the most user-friendly. Solid construction. Take some time to get to know it. This is actually my second one. I wore the first one out over two years of very hard shooting. But then, I'm very hard on brackets.

Nicely made product and a good value for the money. My only suggestion for improvement would be that the camera be able to lock in the horizontal and vertical positions. As it is now, the camera only stays in that position through friction and/or gravity.
