The CB Junior Flash Rotating Bracket Kit from Custom Brackets was designed for those that want to use a compact and lightweight flash rotation bracket but still want to retain the ability to operate all camera and flash functions. The bracket allows the camera itself to be gripped, rather than the bracket. The CB Junior features an adjustable, pivoting flash arm that keeps the flash centered over the lens for both horizontal and vertical photography.
This bracket is tripod ready, with 1/4-20" thread, and features a comfortable foam grip, and the swing-out leg adds support for when the bracket is set on a table or floor. Ideal for digital, 35mm and 645 medium format cameras.

I bought this to use for some wedding photos. It really helped with shadow and red-eye control. I was impressed with the construction quality and finish as well as the utility. What I was pleasantly surprised by was that, with my 50d, it's additional weight was more than compensated for by the how much easier it made carrying my camera. I found myself using the padded handle to carry my camera 90% of the time. It was well-balanced and the handle was still out of the way when I needed to take photos. When removed from my camera, the bracket fit perfectly in the top of my camera backpack. The price of the anti-twist brackets is my only con.

It's nicely made, but there are a few 'lookouts':
- you almost can't use the D3 or D200 w/ grip attached in the vertical shooting position because base gets in the way
- handle on right means you're always going to wear out your right arm, instead of sharing the load
- the kit comes with a way to attach an SC-28 or SC-29, but it doesn't use a 'captured' screw, so all the parts separate if you want to release the cord and do a few 'strobe-on-a-rope' shots; changeover time is measured in minutes; buy a separate accessory-cold shoe
- Anti-twist-plate accessory from kit does not work on D3, ineffective
- Very slow camera mount time: find a QR clamp and use the Arca standard plate already on your body, and sacrifice the weight of the clamp for the convenience of going 'off-bracket-strobe' at a moment's notice (let's say while shooting a wedding???)
I'm not sure I'd recommend this bracket because of these very functional issues. Paying this amount for what amounts to an outdated or inappropriate design (especially for D3) doesn't seem like the best value.

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Junior Flash Rotating Bracket Kit:
Works great, does everything it's supposed to, supports the camera and moves the flash away from the body. However if I was purchasing again I would upgrade to the collapsable version as the Junior is a very awkward shape to try to fit into a camera bag, it sticks out in all directions and isn't neat at all.

I picked this unit up to replace my previous "aging" flash bracket which I had for almost 10 years! This unit is a killer deal for the money and made by a great company (made in the USA!). It's not heavy, bulky, awkward to handle, etc. like a lot of other brands & models. I f you are a working wedding/portrait photographer...the last thing you need is something always in the way! This unit is great for my both my FULL Frame/Bodies & Crop Sensor Cameras with/without battery grips. In simple terms..IT WORKS!

I use this bracket for sports action, senior portrait and candid work.
This bracket is well designed and works as advertised. I love that this comes with anti-twist plates for both the flash and camera.
With previous brackets I've used the flash would inconveniently flip with a little turn of the bracket. NOT SO with the CB Junior! This is a big PLUS!

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Junior Flash Rotating Bracket Kit:
Before I bought this I had a stroboframe. This is far superior. There is plenty of room between your camera and the bracket handle so focusing and shooting is not uncomfortable. The construction is sturdy and it's easy to flip from landscape to portrait. The only con for some may be, if you do not have a large camera bag, that it does not fold.

I use this bracket with my D300 and Tokina 16-50mm f/2.8, MB-D10 grip and the SB-800 flash. The bracket is simple, strong and easy to use. Goes from portrait to landscape and back smoothly and with little effort. I have never had any problems using it with the grip on the camera. You could certainly spend hundreds of dollars more and get more features on a bracket. But if this is all you need, I highly recommend the CB Jr.

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Junior Flash Rotating Bracket Kit:
Im not left handed but this bracket feels like it is. I should have realized this from the photo but apparently looked at it backwards. The rotating part lacks a way to lock it in position and a heavy flash like a 580EX won't stay put. The kick stand feature is nice and the build quality seem fine. just needs a little push-button lock or something to keep it from flip flopping.

I do a lot of portraits and family photos and want to go between landscape and portrate without shadows on the side of the person/persons. I found that the screw on the flip out foot would back out. I put a drop of Loctite® on the threads and fixed the problem.

Anytime a flash is required
With the handle on the right side, if you use with a 1D series camera or a camera with a battery pack, thus the camers sets higher, the knob to raise and lower the flash gets in the way of the shutter button. You hit it with your finger. If you don't use a battery pack or a 1D series camera, you should be fine.

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Junior Flash Rotating Bracket Kit:
Having used on camera flash for a long time, I decided to get one of these to keep the flash above the lens for weddings and event photography. I was not prepared for how "unfriendly" it is to use. Once the camera and flash are attached, there's not really a quick way to un-attach. This thing really needs at least a quick release mechanism for the flash w/cord. I may get a cold shoe attachment for future events, so that I can use a radio trigger on my camera for lights and SU-4 mode for my speedlight for some on axis fill.
Other than that, it seems rock solid, and well built.

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Junior Flash Rotating Bracket Kit:
The custom bracket is very well built, sturdy and has the kick stand when setting the camera down. This bracket works extremly well with the Nikon D3 camera contrary to a previous review I read. The twist bracket will work with the Nikon D3. It has to be installed on the back, not the front. I purchased the cord with the infrared...when taking pictures it will be on the subject..this will give you a better photograph. The bracket is also very light, not heavy. The other thing I like is the adjustible bracket to adjust the height of the flash which the others do NOT have.

It's simple to use, compact and has a comfortable grip. Easy to switch to vertical angle with the spring action bracket. I have friends who are professional photographers and they suggested the custom jr bracket and (of course) they were right. It's the perfect camera bracket it meets all my needs.

The CB Jr Flip Flash Bracket does the Job. I bought the kit to use with my Nikon D80 camera, SB-900 Flash and SC-29 cord. The kit includes the adapters to keep the camera and flash from turning. Works very well for event photography. Only complaint I have is how to pack it in your Camera Bag. Not very easy, so I carry it in an external pouch on the outside of my camera bag.
