I bought this tripod for taking low shutters speed outdoor/nature photos as well as bracketted photos for HDR. I am using nikon d70s, and my heaviest lens is nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8ED. That two combined still weigh less than this tripod max load. I have been using it, even without shutter remote release, and still get sharp picture. In my opinion this tripod is the best in its class (up to 11lbs max load). I did long and careful research about all kind of tripod at this price and around 11lbs max load, this is suit my need best. I chose this over 055xb because my gear total with photo backpack not exceed 11 lbs so i still can use 190 xb, and 055xb weight 1 more pound/ i dont need extra load. I am 5'6 and 190xb total height is about the comfort level. If you are much taller, thus i assume bigger and stronger (to carry extra weight), then 055 series would be better as i would imagine 190 series will be too short and can be problem.

Manfrotto 190XB is a decent inexpensive tripod. Great for medium duty videography with small camera or DSLR.
Some minimal issues worth mentioning, but not a dealbreaker:
The center column binds when making fine adjustments. The flip locks are adjustable and tight, but feel kind of flimsy. And the legs have some flex when panning with a lot of drag.
I tried to mount an IGUS slider on it... NOT! Did I hear somebody say "get jiggy with it"! Maybe in a pinch with a gentle touch, but the legs just have too much flex for the span of a 36" slider.
Overall, I'm happy with it. Like I've said before,'when used as intended', I give it a thumbs up as an affordable option built by Manfrotto.

Does the job expected. Good quality. I use this tripod with the Manfrotto 410 geared head and it makes a great combination.

I bought this product for my D7000 to shoot stills and video. The stability is great and it is easy to use and not cumbersome to carry. It did not come with a case so that is an additional expense. I have used it with a Sigma 150-500mm lens and it was able to tilt with ease and stability with the heavier and longer lens.

I purchased this tripod for hiking purposes, but due to ease of use and stability, it has become my primay tripod. I like the easily reversible center column for near the ground shots. I mounted a giottos ballhead on the tripod and shoot with an Olympus OM-D EM5 with various lenses.
Of course I would love to have a featherweight tripod for hiking (= high $$s), but this one can't be beat for the price.

It's a light tripod, and is steady enough for my Canon 5D.
The only thing I don't like about it is its balancing. if you want to use it in an uneven surface, you should try hard to balance it.

Great little tripod I bought specifically for travel: I wanted quick setup and take-down (flip-style locks instead of thumb screws), compact size and light weight. It fits into a suitcase or backpack or straps to the outside of my camera bag, no problem. Not as light as carbon fiber, but much less expensive. And I won't cry if it gets dinged. Downside: It's not as tall or as sturdy as my bigger Manfrottos, but then again, they're longer and heavier. I'm a magazine editor, photographer and videographer and this is fine for my small video camera and DSLR.

Sporadic production, sits in my trunk most days. Use about 1 weekend a month. Lightweight, but sturdy. Leg locks are very, very tight, but I assume they'll loosen up with use.

My first Manfrotto product! I couldn't be more pleased. I mainly needed a tripod that would give me the versatility to shoot from many different angles at the same time eliminating camera shake. I didn't have a ton of money to put into a tripod. I do a lot of online selling and sometimes I need to take shots of products laying flat on the ground, sometimes at weird angles. The manner in which you can operate the height and angle of the legs to get those shots along with a sturdy foundation and a great price is just what I needed. Glad I bought it! No regrets.

The 190XB tripod provides excellent support for spotting scope. It's heavy enough to not shake but light enough to transport easily. Adjustments on the tripod are easy to make.

I needed a sturdy but light-weight tripod for traveling. The 190XB is great! I often film very close to the ground--it is well-designed to do just that. Just wish they had thrown in a bag with a strap!

Comments about Manfrotto 190XB Tripod Legs (Black) - Supports 11 lbs (5 kg):
Bought this because I wanted a flip lock tripod and this model was supposed to be comparable to my screw lock tripod. It was about the same height and weight. Couldn't believe it when I unpacked it and saw how flimsy and puny the legs were. Compared it side by side with my current tripod and the legs were clearly smaller. I have an expensive spotting scope and no way would I put my scope on that tripod and take it outdoors. I gave it 1 star because it might be useful for a light weight camera if used indoors. I sent it back and am getting the Manfrotto 055XB instead. Note for birders: get a sturdier model!!

I am a freelance videographer and TV commercial maker and this great to take on outdoor locations because it's small but also sturdy enough to hold up my midsize camcorder. I use a panasonic hmc 70 and it does just fine. It has a little trouble holding up my motion slider rig but I'm also pushing its weight capacity limits. Overall a great set of legs.

I was really impressed with the build of this tripod. It is really easy to set up and feels completely secure. I had no concerns with using my T2i + 70-300mm lens on it. I ended up returning it because it was too heavy to carry around while traveling. If I needed a tripod that I didn't plan to carry on my backpack I would definitely have kept this. My bad for not realizing how much weight I wanted to carry around.

At first these legs looked a lot smaller than i was expecting but they are surprisingly sturdy. They work well with the 128RC fluid Head and make a very compact and easy set up, the snap leg locks are easier/faster to use than the slightly cheaper twist ones.

Great set of legs. So far, I've only used the basic features of the tripod and haven't needed to use the ability to change the angles of the legs from the default. My only issues is that the legs are a bit on the heavy side. Not great for carrying on long walks, but not too much for short excursions. The compensation is that the tripod feels very stable.
