A tripod head is required and not included with these legs. Be sure you purchase a tripod head to attach to your camera.
The Bogen/Manfrotto 190XDB Tripod Legs builds on the success of the 3001 series, but has been redesigned to offer better ergonomics of the leg-angle release mechanism. It can reach a maximum working height of 57.5" (146 cm), and folds up to 21" (53.5 cm). Ideal for use with cameras up to SLR size with medium pro zoom lens attached.
With less features than the 190XB or 190XBPRO and a simpler design, this model is a 0.5 lb lighter, and a more economical choice.

Having been a longtime "heavy duty" tripod user, I was expecting to be disappointed with this tripod. But, I wanted to try a lighter pod that I could easily attach to my photopack that wouldn't hinder my maneuverability in tough outdoor situations. I was amazed at how much I liked this tripod! Sure, it feels flimsy compared to my usual beasts, but like other manfrottos I have owned, it is so well made that it performs astoundingly well. For multi minute night exposures it would help to weight it a bit, but to stabilize telephoto shots and have razor sharp landscapes, this little beauty just performs admirably. It fits perfectly on my pack, and doesn't weigh a ton. I have it paired with a heavy-duty ball head and couldn't be more pleased. My heave duty pods haven't left the studio since I got this.

Ehh...it works.
Manfrotto makes much better tripods than this one, but I needed something cheap yet more professional than I had prior (a cheap Sunpak consumer variety tripod), and this did the trick.

Manfrotto makes much better tripods than this one, but I needed something cheap yet more professional than I had prior (a cheap Sunpak consumer variety tripod), and this did the trick.
I like it because of the fact that I can attach it to my slider due to it's removable head, and that it is MORE sturdy than my previous tripod (do not assume that I said it was "sturdy"...just MORE sturdy).
However, I get sick of the turn-screw leg locks, the incredible light-weight body which jumps with the slightest breeze, and the fact that the rubber feet don't have claws for shooting outdoors.
However, I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 because these are all things I knew i was sacrificing in advance by purchasing this tripod. I could've gotten a better model, but I cheaped out. Not a big surprise that I'm not 100% sold on this one. But it does get the job done.

Got this tripod as a secondary unit for wide/safety shots. It's a little on the lighter side, but it works well with my dslr or XHA1 camera. I like that it's so compact, my prior tripod was on the bulkier side.

Somehow I got this product mixed up with a more sturdy tripod. But this one suffices, and meets the basic needs of a tripod for video shooting.

Let me start of this review by saying that a good tripod is an investment that everyone should make, but is not something that eveyone can do. That is where this this tripod fits in, as a place holder for a decent tripod until you can afford something better. That being said, for the price this is the best tripod money can buy. It has well made interchangeable parts that seeem like they will last. I have taken this out on several time lapse shoots and it doesn't shake around even in extreme wind. I also has variable angles for the legs so the tripod can be quite low to the ground. It can also be quite tall. This tripod can support up to 11 pounds which I have tested with my CAnon 60d and a 300mm L lens. Over all a good tripod that is very useful and last a long time.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who is just getting into photography. It was a vast improvement over her $10 tripod. For someone just getting into photography, spending $ + on just a pair of legs may seem a little excessive, but I'm sure many of us have been through the experience of buying a cheap department brand tripod to save a few bucks only to throw it out and getting a better quality one later. To the beginner photographer, heed my words: a tripod is one of those things if you make a good choice the first time, you won't waste money down the road "upgrading"! A good tripod always retains its value and will last you for many, many years. What I like about this tripod is, while light and compact, it is still very sturdy. This is perfect if you are the type that likes to go hiking. It's not a huge load but will provide that stability when you find that spot to get your perfect landscape photo.I feel this tripod would be great for the hobbiest photographer, someone with only occassional tripod needs, or someone who doesn't need a tripod with all the extra bells and whistles the upgraded models have. While this tripod may not be ideal for the seasoned photographer with heavy equipment, it would serve as a wonderful backup tripod to even just keep in the trunk when one is in a jam. This tripod definitely follows the build quality one would expect from a Manfrotto. My tripod has been through rain, snow, sand and more and still functions as well as the day I bought it.I admit when I bought this as a gift for my friend, I was a little jealous she got some new toys to play with :)

Very sturdy but not real heavy. Fine to take wherever without feeling like your lugging it around. But heavy enough to hold your DSLR securely.

This tripod is a larger than I anticipated, but overall it performs great so I can't complain too much. The legs extend by screw system- this gets a little getting used to but works fine for me. I just worry that maybe the screws (which are plastic) will not tighten as well over time. For the 2 weeks I've been using it though- the screw system has been fine. The legs are sturdy and hold my Pentax Kr great with no shakes. It is a little heavy but this is my second tripod from a beginner tripod and I think the weight it necessary to provide the stability needed. I love it overall and am very happy.

I bought this for my nephew's high school graduation present. We played with it a little when I gave it to him. It held my Canon D60 for some sharp low light shots. I chose it because Scott Kelby recommended it in one of his books as a low cost solution. It seems to fit the bill very well. Very steady and well made. A very good product for the money.

Heavier than desired but good value. I hike and backpack a lot so I wanted a very lightweight system, but was not willing to pay for the high end legs. This is a fair trade off given the price. The legs are sturdy and they are quick to set-up.

I am using this with the Manfrotto 701HDV Pro Fluid Video Mini Head for DSLR Video. Got this version over 190XPROB and 190XB because it is slightly lighter and more compact (fits in the pushchair/stroller). The Carbon Fiber version, 190CX, is lighter still but costs a lot more and for video stability possibly too light!
Since the primary reason for purchase was for video I also considered the MDEVE 755XB with the video-ready levelling system. Glad I went with the 190XDB as it seems easy enough to level with the thumb screws and bubble level on the 701HDV.
Done some tests with a Nikon D3S and 70-200mm f/2.8 (that set up is a little heavy for the 701HDV but ok). Main use camera will be the D800 and a variety of lenses.
If I was going to get a second tripod it would be something like the 055XPROB or 055XV, with greater height and weight (for more stability).

I purchased this tripod because I wanted one for my new 200mm lens. It's easy to set up and not too bulky or heavy. I can't wait for nicer weather so I can use it for macro pics.

Solid set of sticks, all parts work well and good on a budget. Pretty lightweight for the build quality.
