I experience hand tremors and was looking for a way to stabilize my small video camera while shooting. This gadget really seems to do the trick. The camera attaches securely to the support and there is a strap which attaches to the camera for extra security. The only negative thing I have to say is that the foot fit into the support a little too firmly and that it was hard to detach the camera. I took a file and filed the sides of the foot down a little so that it slides more easily into the support. Other than that, no complaints.

From the pictures, I thought this tripod would stand up by itself - in other words allow you to work hands-free. It does NOT! You wear it like a necklace and if you let go of it, it just hangs straight to the ground. You must lift and constantly hold the camera up to your face on the end of the "stick". The stick however, is very lightweight - you can hold it up with just a finger or two.

The quick release button does not work, or barely works. I fought with it for a week and finally a friend was able to pry the thing off, almost breaking her fingernail to do it. I never needed it though - just kept my camcorder screwed on there tightly (oh, also it has a "safety strap" which is totally useless - just screw your camera on tightly and you'll be OK).

As an alternative to putting a tripod on the ground though, it's a nice change of pace - you don't have to worry about being stuck in one spot and people kicking the legs. You can walk around with it, which you can't do with a floor tripod. Also it did well with my shaky hands - the video (I use a tiny Vado camcorder with it - similar to a Flip) came out very steady, although most of the time I rested my arms on a railing.

I would reccommend it as a second tripod for times when you think you won't be able to put a tripod on the floor or on a table top, or when you want to walk around and face different directions a lot, like at a concert or wedding.

Comments about Sima Mini Video Prop Chest Support:

Construction seems pretty solid. I'm not sure how comfortable it will be vs. the benefit. But, this is one of the least expensive supports I've found with all the other more higher priced gear out there to provide stabilization for still cameras.

Usefull for small to medium size Camcorder or Cameras. I wannted it to use with the Canon 7d, it worked, but during filming I got that feeling of it couldt break and fall, because of the weight. With my Panasonic SD300 it works well and Save.
