Product Highlights
  • 1000mm f/9.8 Achromatic Refractor
  • Manual Equatorial Mount

The Celestron Omni XLT 102 Telescope, a superior refractor with Celestron's StarBright XLT coatings, is now priced within your reach.   The Omni XLT 102's excellent and contrasty images are appealing for observation, and the scope's also ready for some imaging duty too.  The Omni XLT 102's focuser is the larger 2" size, to allow you to take advantage of some delicious wide field star viewing should you ever upgrade to an optional 2" diagonal and longer 2" eyepiece.

Unlike altazimuth-mounted scopes, the Omni XLT's quite viable for astrophotography; it has a T-mount adapter, and when augmented with the optional dual axis motor and polar axis finder can achieve brilliantly sharp long-exposure images of the faint objects such as nebulae.

The XLT 102 features the CG-4 manual mount, which doesn't require batteries.  Pound for pound, the choice of the CG-4 manual mount over motorized mounts will be advantageous to purists who are eager to learn the sky map.  It can be a rewarding experience.

Quality, classic CG-4 manual mount equipped with finely-geared slow motion control & setting circles for quick reference
Large 2" focuser barrel accepts optional 2" diagonals, eyepieces, and direct imaging accessories

Comments about Celestron Omni XLT 102 4"/102mm Refractor Telescope Kit:

I like it. It's my first "real" telescope and the first telescope of any kind in many years, so I'm using it to learn. It was easy to assemble and I had it up and running after an hour or so. I needed to research how to use an equatorial mount, and there are still a few things that are mysterious to me. The setting circles are pretty small; probably too small to be accurate but all small scopes seem to share this issue. More instruction on how to use it would have been nice, but there's a lot available online to cover it. Fit and finish are good. It is a little awkward and heavy to move around unless you take it apart, at least partially. No case included, and you'll need one to prevent mishaps and enable travel.

Comments about Celestron Omni XLT 102 4"/102mm Refractor Telescope Kit:

I purchased this mount and scope to be my grab and go unit and it sure has lived up to my expectations. It is a very stable, lightweight, portable mount that packs and sets up quickly. The optics in the 102mm refractor are excellent for the price you are paying for it. I had it out on a night I would say was a 6 out of 10 for air quality and I was seeing the Cassini Division on Saturn. Later I put my 5" refractor (17 lbs.) on the mount and it handled that beautifully. Also the folks at B&H were great to work with and the shipping was very fast. Would highly recommend this setup from B&H.

Comments about Celestron Omni XLT 102 4"/102mm Refractor Telescope Kit:

In my astronomy group we were used to reflectors, and we had a great surprise when this Omni XLT 102 joined in. As it has no secondary in the way, Jupiter looks much sharper. The equatorial mount is sturdy and precise if you know how to point it to the celestial pole.
Don't think it will be easy to settle the mount, but it is possible and fun.
