This does exactly what it says in allowing you to connect your guitar to your computer. The included amp modeling software sounds very good and allows you to get a wide variety of sounds. There aren't a lot of extra features, but if all you need is to connect one guitar to your computer this will certainly fit the bill. The biggest drawback is that the included drivers will only allow the guitar's sound to be sent to the built-in headphone jack; however, find the software called ASIO4ALL, which should allow you to route the output to any other audio device on your computer.

I purchased the UCG102 to use with my mac-mini which at the time was running OS 10.5.4. When I plugged it in my mac recognized it. Unfortunately, even though I can see the signal from my guitar is reaching the mac, the guitar can't be heard in the headphones. I could hear recorded music but not my guitar. I upgraded my OS to 10.5.8 but it didn't fix the problem. When I researched the problem on the internet I found other mac users who were having the same problem. Not all mac users, just some. I couldn't find anyone who had found a solution to this issue.

Comments about Behringer UCG102 GUITAR LINK Guitar-to-USB Interface:
I got this for my son who is learning. It's great because he can record and listen back best of all he can use with headphones. I am using it with GarageBand, no software install required. Works fine on a PowerBook but I am having a big latency problem with the MacMini, it might have something to do with running it through HDMI, I'm still trying to see if I can improve it. I would recommend to anyone who wants a quick easy and inexpensive way to hook electric guitar to computer.

Using it to record my guitar on my PC with Windows 7 using Guitar Rig and REAPER. Extremely easy to set up and use. Sounds great! Love that you can adjust the input level from high to low as well so it can be used with a guitar with active pickups (high output) with out clipping.

Using this product makes it able to let you imagine you walk into a room filled with legendary guitar amplifiers (WITH THE RIGHT SOFTWARE)...
it does an alright job with the two inputs for your guitar and headphones makes it easy to use with your computer. I use this with guitar rig 4 that's when the magic happens. nothing really bad to say about this product except for its lack of options and features highly recommended.

Comments about Behringer UCG102 GUITAR LINK Guitar-to-USB Interface:
I wanted to connect an electric guitar to an iPad 2 and bought this after trying the Peavey Ampkit and finding it too noisy. You'll need the Apple Camera Connection Kit which gives the iPad 2 a USB port which you can then connect the UCG102 to. GarageBand and the Ampkit app recognize it immediately. The sound is cleaner than a unit that connects via the headphone input but it won't work with apps that don't support CoreAudio such as Amplitube. It also won't work on my iTouch whereas a headphone input solution would. You need to watch your levels more carefully as digital clipping sounds nasty whereas you can get away with that with a headphone solution a bit more. Still, as long as your levels are set properly, it sounds great and seems like the least expensive solution to getting a good guitar sound through the 30-pin port without requiring additional power such as with the Alesis iO Dock plus its light, portable and gives you plenty of cable so you don't have to worry about being too close to the iPad. I do wish the headphone output was louder but the Ampkit wasn't any better in that regard. All in all, hard to beat for the price plus you can also use it with a PC or Mac. So you throw one of these into a guitar bag pouch with an iPad or iPhone4 and you're set for recording into Garageband or Coreaudio guitar apps.

Comments about Behringer UCG102 GUITAR LINK Guitar-to-USB Interface:
When the product arrived in the mail I was so happy to finally start recording again. But soon found out how horrible of a product this was. The sound quality was horrible, the amp interfaces sounded like nails on a chalk board, the recording program it came with was really cheap, and it wouldn't work with other legit recording programs like ableton live or garageband. Bottom Line, this product was a huge disappointment.

I'm very happy with the build quality and sound quality of this product. It is supplied with drivers for XP, but you will have to download those for Windows 7. It works well on both. The amplifier - AC Box Combo - has great sound and effects. You can find examples of its use on Youtube. I dropped one star as I could not figure out how to make the sound output go through the PC. I use headphones or monitor speakers that connect directly to the UCG102 little box. A great product for the price. I'm very happy [...]

This is not a plug & play device.
Tried on two good XP computers without satisfactory results.
No support from Behringer other than a verbatim copy from the instruction manual.
I run midi on three computers through a couple sound systems with very few problems. This device/interface however, is not user friendly and wastes your time. I'll be looking for something that works when I want it to.
I'm sending it back...

If someone is looking for the perfect, audiophile-satisfying solution, this may not be the right way to go. If, however, you want to be able to play your guitar through your computer without the "pro- pricetag", this is a great way to do it. I was able to use it with Apple's Garage Band and try all the new play along features.

I am a guitarist, I play Spanish guitar. i use my laptop for recording music, it's HP, this device is great, I loved it, especially it worked well with my classical guitar,
This that i didn't like first, that i had problems with the driver, and my windows 7 was reading it as a mic not a line in, so it gave me a horrible noise when I started recording
I got that driver from the website, and now it's working wel

This is a cool little interface that meets every need that I expected. It allows you to play an analog guitar through your computer and outputs to headphones or an amp. Very satisfied with purchase. It can't be beat for the price.
Problems Encountered: Setup was a little tricky if you are using Windows, but most setups are with Windows. You have to install the ASIO driver from the CD that comes with the device. After that everything works as advertised.
