I wrote the previous review on this monopod (Matt Cham, NY City) and would like to make a major correction. Since trying the demo at BH Photo, I shopped around for a few more days and later came back to purchase this product. Upon first use, I immediately noticed that the tilt head wing nut is in fact independently adjustable from the quick height adjustment switch. Therefore the floor model at BH Photo showroom must have been faulty. Consequently, I would like to increase my rating of this product. I don't think you can find a lighter product with tilt head and as much load capacity at this price or even at double of this price.

EZ-Pod feels a little heavier than I expected, but no so much that it's a pain to carry on long hikes. It is more stable than my lighter, cheapo brand monopod. The spring-loaded autoadjust doesn't work very well. I have to force it to move which is less convenient than just having an additional or longer telescoping segment.

Comments about Slik E-Z Pod Monopod - Supports 8.5 lbs (3.9kg):
I did a lot of shopping before buying this product, and was very pleased when it arrived and I pulled it out of the box. The construction is beefy and appears to be good quality. The segment latches secure tightly and don't slip. I wanted a tilt head without buying an expensive ball head, and that is what you get with the E-Z Pod. I had reservations about the spring/slide vertical adjustment, but found it to be REALLY handy. It is a really nice feature. This feature makes it bulkier and longer than some options, but I haven't found it offensively large. It fits nicely on my camera bag. My only hit on the product is the plastic construction, but if you really want agonized aluminum or carbon fiber, you'll have to pay for it. I don't think the plastic will hold up to a lot of abuse, but for everyday photography, its perfect. Great product.

Used with Canon 40D w/battery grip & 70-200 2.8 lens. I have used the EZ-Pod for baseball games & love it, the anti-gravity adjustment works great.

Used w 5D-M2 with 70-200 lens + 1.4x extender using mount ring on lens for sports (softball). Feels rigid and stable, easy to adjust the height, like the quick pop out spring-loaded feature. The mounting boot separates easily so you can dismount the camera from monopod for hand-held shots. I wish it was 3 inches shorter to fit in my beg.

Great product! Short, compact, lightweight and easily fits into most suitcases. Also due to weight and included sling, will be great for hiking. Very easy to open, setup and use. Very well thought out. Only negative is the foot plate size that attaches to the camera.

Comments about Slik E-Z Pod Monopod - Supports 8.5 lbs (3.9kg):
I have used both the Manfroto monopod and the Slik E-Z Pod. The Manfroto unit is heftier and obviously stronger but it is also significantly longer and does not fit well on my backpack. The Slik E-Z Pod is much lighter and fits well on my pack.
I recently used the E-Z Pod for a two hour shoot with my Canon 40D and 70-200 IS Zoom - a heavy combination. The E-Z Pod worked great and I really came to appreciate the spring loaded "fine" adjust for the last 6" of height. It made it very easy to fine tune the length of the pod when I switch from landscape to portrait orientations.

This product offers a a stable support sustem for the camera and lens. It is a wonderful product in this price range and surpassed my expectations.
I've used this to set up and shoot horses, landscapes and people. The adjustments are very easy to manuver and the locking mechanisms work flawlessly.
One thing I would like to see on this product is a swivel head which would add further benefit to this product.

Using this with my Nikon SLR. Perfect height for me. The best feature is the rocker type release and lock switch to adjust the final 6 inches or so of height. Makes it very easy to use and you don't have
to take your eye from the viewfinder to operate it.

works great with the shorter lenses. But I tend to wobble if I try to use a telephoto lens, unless I can sink it into the sand or snow a bit, or lean against a tree or rock...IT sure beats packing the tripod. I like the darn thing!!! I have even works to fend off unfriendly beasts (DOGS!) IT works great with my binoculars also.. if you are going for a moving target it rotates easily so you can track your subject
