The Induro ELC-2 Short Center Column replaces the standard column on the Carbon and Carbonflex series-2 tripods. This allows you to take full advantage of the variable leg spread on these units, so that you are not inhibited by the length of the column as to how low you can go.

Comments about Induro ELC-2 Short Center Column:
The ELC-2 short column works with the Induro CT213 carbon fiber tripod. When the tripod legs are splayed out to the fullest extent, the tripod's collar is about 7" above the substrate. Thus, the approximatly 18" standard center collumn, which is supplied with the tripod, is rendered unsuable; it does not disassemble into two pieces like my old Velbon does. You have to replace it with the optional short column if you are going to use the tripod for low-angle shots or macrophotography.
What can I say, it works! It's sturdy and you can easily store it in the tripod case that comes with the Induro CT213.

Comments about Induro ELC-2 Short Center Column:
This replacement center column is perfect for utilizing the tripod's low level flexibility. It is machined from the same materials and has the same structure as the original column - and the bottom spring loaded hook from the long column threads right into the new short one.
Another minor change is about a 2 ounce savings in weight.
Lastly - it's now possible to carry the tripod over one's shoulders with the legs splayed and resting on both shoulders without getting poked in the back of the head with the end of the longer column.
If you don't want to cut off the original column then this is the way to go.

Comments about Induro ELC-2 Short Center Column:
With this short center column my Induro tripod just became even more. It allows bringing the camera very close to the ground, which is great for macro photography. The only way this setup could be improved is if the tripod pouch would have a loop or two to keep the long center column from flopping around...

Comments about Induro ELC-2 Short Center Column:
Maybe you think $50 is a lot of money to spend on a short center column, but it is wel worth it if you want to create photographs from a more interesting perspective. If all you intend to do is setup your tripod at eye level and make pictures from a perspective that we're all used to seeing then i don't think this product is for you. But, if you like to make photos from interesting angles and new perspectives then I absolutely recommend this product. I am able to use my Induro CT214 tripod in all different configurations because I have this short center column. Obviously, the biggest advantage is that you can get very low to the ground with this.

does the job, couldn't be any shorter. Great for the low macro shot without the aggravation of pulling the column out and flipping in over (which also mounts the camera upside down.) worth the money.

Comments about Induro ELC-2 Short Center Column:
This is the only solution if you are using an Induro series 2 tripod. It allows you to get low... extremely low! It also saves some weight and allows the legs to close a little bit more as it is out of the way.

Comments about Induro ELC-2 Short Center Column:
The short column improves the wide-leg low-angle capacity of the tripod. You can literally spread the legs nearly flat and shoot close to the ground.
