Just what I was looking for, a minimal bag to safely carry a 7d Canon body with a non-L series lens like my favorites the 55mm Macro and the EF 24-85 mm zoom. Both are a nice fit. Pockets are adequate for a few filters, a lipstick lens brush, some memory cards and a spare battery.

I like to use a simple web belt through the back loops to help control the bag when I bend over. I can also use a Lowepro 1S bag on the belt to carry the 55mm compact macro lens since the main problem with the EF 24-85mm lens is close focus and its irritating love of 67 mm filters, an odd size for a Canon non-L lens most of which use 58 mm filters. It is otherwise nearly a perfect match for the 7d body and very compact and light.

The 24-105 fancy L-series zoom will certainly NOT fit in this bag on the camera. But the much smaller and easy to carry excellent non-L series lenses which are short will fit and the 7d body slides right in.

The problem is the same as with all such bags. What to do with the strap? I solved that with the Tamrac series of detachable straps where you have a small fitting that goes on each side of the camera and the strap snaps into those. I carry the strap folded three times and attached with a single velcro strap to the handle of the bag. There it is perfect since it does not interfere with the use of the handle and is easy to remove before you open the bag so you can loop it around your neck ready to attach the camera as you remove it.

So with the right lens, a 7d body and lens is a perfect fit for this minimalist bag.

I bought it for Nikon D90. It is fine for the camera with 18-105mm lense. The side pockets are okay but the space in front pocket(where they shows the battery) is not sufficient. Worst part is you won't have space to keep your charger or any other filter.

Good for hiking with minimal dslr setup

Comments about Tamrac 5515 Adventure Zoom 5 (Black with Gray Trim):

I use this bag for backpacking, so it hangs in the front while my backpack is on my back. I use it with another brand belt that I already had, and it "sags" a little at the waist with that belt (which is just a webbing belt with no extra structure, so it folds over). Maybe if I had a padded belt that part would be better. Even as it is, it works fine.

I use the bag for a Canon 6D with 24-105 lens attached (with hood reversed)...with that DSLR-lens combination, I can zip the bag but it's pretty tight. I often just leave the zipper unzipped and just clip the lid shut, which works well unless it's raining and I need to protect the camera more.

The pockets on the sides and front are decent sized for spare batteries, memory cards, or maybe even a cell phone or small wallet. One thing that I think would be nice for the bag is a clear zippered pocket in the inside of the "lid"...my older Tamrac belt bag had this and I liked that extra pocket.

The one thing about this bag that I really don't like is the plastic clip/buckle that secures the lid (see photos). I had an older Tamrac belt bag that had a "standard" buckle, similar to the kind on most hiking gear. This new bag has a "pointed" buckle. The receiving end of the buckle is in a pointed shape (rather than the more typical rectangular shape), so there are no "side walls" to guide the buckle in. With the new design, it's easy to misalign the buckle and snap it incorrectly, and then it is a pain to try to unbuckle it later. Most of the time it works fine (I just tried to buckle it incorrectly and couldn't do it), but I've had the problem several times when out hiking, so I know it happens. I really don't know why Tamrac would change a buckle design that has been working well in the backpacking world for years. This is my only major complaint about the bag, and the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

        PROS
        - Great minimalist bag
        - Snap lock is great for getting to your camera quickly (also has a zipper)
        - Belt loops or shoulder strap
        - Seems to be well made

        CONS
        - No top of bag pocket
        - Front pocket is a bit small

I use this bag as a minimalist bag for my Cannon 3i Rebel. The camera fits just right and snug with the standard 18-55mm lens on it w/ a lens hood.

The two side pockets are roomy enough to hold the battery charger in one and a filters in the other and probably some other items. The front pocket can hold multiple memory cards and batteries.

This bag won't hold any extra lenses (maybe in a side pocket) or alot of accessories.

I use this with my Nikon D7000 and Nikkor 18-200mm VR II lens. That set-up fits nice and snug in the bag, with the lens hood reversed. It's a great combination for traveling/vacations, with the D7000 charger fitting in the side pocket. The front pocket is just large enough to hold a lens pen, and would easily hold a few extra SD cards if you need. A couple of extra filters fit in the front or side pocket.

I really like the fact that it has a belt loop, so when I'm traveling I use the shoulder strap and belt loop together to stop it being easily snatched. With the zip AND the clip on the camera compartment, it all feels pretty safe and secure in a crowd. When you need to be quicker on the draw, you can just use the clip and forget the zip. The bag feels well padded, and all in all it was an excellent purchase for times when you just need the one lens, or for traveling. When I'm on a more involved shoot, or need more gear, I obviously use a much bigger bag.

Got this for my d7000, 50mm 1.4g lens. The bag is the perfect size for my needs. If you have larger lenses, you will need something bigger. The bag itself is well constructed & sturdy, although I would prefer a microfiber lining as opposed its nylon interior lining. Bag comes with pockets for batteries, memory cards, etc, to keep you organized. I purchased this to cover/hold my camera, inside a larger bag. It does the job well. Its small size is convenient as it doesn't take up much space inside my backpack. If you are looking for something that will hold more than just a camera body + 1 lens, you will need something different. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this bag.

When my camera and bag were stolen earlier this year, I went on-line to specifically find the exact same bag. This is not the most ruggedly built or well padded of camera bags, but it is a great price for a bag excellently designed to carry a single camera with a moderate sized zoom lens and a few pieces of extra equipment (I'm currently using it for a Canon Rebel T3 with a Tamron 18-200mm zoom and there is plenty of room). The buckle gives you quick access to the camera, but you can also use the zippers when more protection is needed. The small side and front pockets provide plenty of space for a spare battery, memory card, some lens cleaning equipment, a spare lens cap and a filter.

Enough room inside to have my Canon 60D with a 4 1/2" lens on it... Although it fits it like a glove... if you want to leave a strap on your camera... better only leave up to 4" mounted when inside the bag...

Enough pocket room for my caps, battery charger, spare battery... and even an extra SD card...
The buckle is great for quick access... When out on a walk-about I just stow it in the bag on my belt (built-in belt loops on back of case) and just buckle it in... probably saving the zipper years of wear and tear in the long-run... but also saving me a lot of time too. Material feels fairly protective... probably could use a little more padding on the bottom of it... but I still feel confident using it.
Great design from a great company... ideal for one camera, one lens and someplace to walk to...

It protected the camera ok but the plastic snap on the front kept getting offset and not snapping smoothly. The shoulder strap also came off one time which could have been expensive if I didn't catch it. Quality was not very impressive. Also my camera with a handle battery pack barely fits.

Used for backpacking and occasions where a larger bag would be incomfortable or too conspicuous. Holds my D90 with atached Tamron VC 17-50 F/2.8 or Sigma 18-200 OS. Side pockets hold my Sunpak RD 2000 flash (reviewed favorably elsewhere on this site)and spare batteries. Front pocket can hold 3 or 4 filters up to 82 mm but Cokin P filter cases are a bit too large. The case has a carrying handle and a wide unpadded strap with a non-slip feature. The strap has two places to attach other stuff, and the case has two vertical webbing strips on the back through which a belt or other strap can be threaded. The two strips stabilize the pack much better than a single strip. Additionally the top secures by a zipper and/or a strap and buckle, a feature which I like - zip and buckle for transport, buckle only for quick access.

This is the perfect size to carry your SLR with a single lens attached for casual outings, when you don't want to carry a bigger bag with multiple lenses.

Fits the Sony Alpha SLT-A55 with up to a 4.5" lens, & also has three small seperate pockets, (one each side & one front) that hold battery charger & extra battery, memory cards, lens filters, etc. Good quality construction with perfect size for light day trip carry or storage. Small & light but big enough to still holds all the essentials in one bag nicely.

Comments about Tamrac 5515 Adventure Zoom 5 (Black with Gray Trim):

I had Tamarac bag similar to this one that i used with Nikon D70. I got this bag with Nikon D90 with 18-200 zoom lens. The bag is good in a sense that it has front and 2 side pockets to store keys etc.

The annoying thing is that the zipper has a flap over it and everytime you need to take the camera out, you need to push the flap up and then open the zipper. This can be annoying but its there for weatherproofing i guess.

Also the camera+lens is a tight fit. It fits in with no room. I dont have to cram the camera inside but i dont have any space wither. I guess thats because of the lens size. I was afraid this may happen when i ordered the bag.

Overall it a great bag. I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a bag and i would definately buy it again.

Comments about Tamrac 5515 Adventure Zoom 5 (Black with Gray Trim):

Leave the main camera bag home and take this on a hike or to a wedding. Two side pockets plus one front are perfect for the phone, keys, and gum.
