The MXL USB.007 is a large diaphragm stereo condenser microphone with a USB port for direct connection to Mac or PC computers. The capsule features an X/Y stereo pick up for true stereo imagery and brilliant reproduction of vocals, instruments, ambiance, etc.
The microphone's condenser element utilizes full +48V phantom power off the USB bus for a full, rich, professional sound over electret or dynamic microphones. The cardioid polar pattern minimizes off-axis noise and feedback without altering its smooth, wide frequency response.
The digital section features a 16-bit Delta Sigma A/D converter with a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz. The MXL USB.007 is sold as a complete kit with stand, windscreen and 10-foot USAB cable; everything needed for successful podcasts, voice overs, project studio recording and more.

Comments about MXL USB.007 Stereo Condenser Microphone with USB:
I wasn't sure how this mic was going to sound, it's my first mxl usb condenser mic, I was quite pleased with it, as soon as it arrived, I opened it up, and plugged it into my laptop, windows updated the drivers, and I got on my piano and played and sung a song, I was surprised with the quality of sound, plus I was able to hear both my voice, and the piano clearly, I have been using a mixer and a few mics to record, but this is much better, one mic that picks up both the piano, and my voice clearly, cant beat it, the only thing I had to do was go into the sound mixer on my laptop, and lower the recording volume, other than that, its perfect, I added some reverb, and eq in my recording program, and it sounds like a studio quality recording :)

Works as an excellent stereo mike. I do not hear or see any noise signal on my timeline in Aodobe audition. Once you set up the audio levels in windows 7, it is a piece of cake to use.

Comments about MXL USB.007 Stereo Condenser Microphone with USB:
This mic is very well made ( except for the wind sock, which needs a rubber band to keep it from blowing off ). Response is very smooth on the left mic, but the right mic has a variation and is not so smooth - I don't know if this is a defect in my unit, or a characteristic of the mic capsules position in the assembly. I'm using the (left) mic for calibrating rooms right now, but intend to use it for recording live choral music - I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

We have been using this mic for voiceovers in video production using our home computer. The sound quality is so good we started to play around with music. It does not disappoint!

Using in teaching studio for quick recordings, and examples. It's quiet, and makes fast recordings easily. The light was offset from its center, but after speaking with the company, they told me this has no effect on the sound quality. It's simply an "on" light.

I use it to record me playing guitar for my youtube channel, it is perfect! I'm no where near a professional at all, so it was perfect for the price; only play for fun. Love the sound quality and the interface is so easy to use. Plug-n-play!

I used this mic to record classical guitar with great results! For the price, you probably cannot beat it. And it is extremely easy to use. However, do not expect to get true studio quality sound out of this. This is just an excellent, easy to use, entry-level mic for someone who wants stereo sound.

This mic exceeded all my expectations. It's incredibly natural sounding and VERY sensitive. I'm recording piano with it right now with fabulous results. If its design fits your needs you won't be disappointed and B&H had it at the right price. I'll be dealing with them again in the future!

Although I don't do professional recording, my first test of this mic impressed me. The sound was clear with no background noise. Setup was simple. Included a good deal of information about the mic and its recommended setup. Came well packaged, and with a very nice carrying case to keep it protected.

I purchased this product to do voice overs for local television commercials in our studio. Since it has an USB interface I can record high quality voice overs on the road as well. I definitely recommend a pop filter since you need to get pretty close to the microphone for it to pick you up.

I have used the mic to record live sound into my laptop. The setup was very easy but I wish there was more control over sensitivity. The included tripod is handy but to really get the benefits of this mic, a real stand and shock mount are a must.
Comments about MXL USB.007 Stereo Condenser Microphone with USB:
I bought this mic to record my classical guitars. I found the sound to be extremely natural and the stereo image excellent. The mic was so easy to setup too. All you have to do is plug it in to a USB port on your computer and Windows XP recognized it and I was recording in 30 seconds using both the Sound Recorder that comes with Windows XP and with my old Sound Forge XP 4.5 software. It has a wide dynamic range. I have to be very close (12) playing very very very loudly to make it distort at the highest sensitivity setting, but it comes with 3 sensitivity settings so is distorting is an issue for you all you have to do is switch the the medium setting. In the recordings with the mic in a very quite room the only drawback is a slight amount of hiss audible in the background of recordings. This hiss is evident in their sound samples on their website as well.
