The Digital SLR Starter Kit from Lee Filters is an ideal introduction to the comprehensive LEE Filters filter system for digital SLR users. Lee, a leader in square and rectangular filters, has designed this system in response to the demands of both digital and traditional film shooters.
Lee ProGlass filters are manufactured to meet the standards of today's highly sensitive digital sensors. The ProGlass filter reduces irregular color casts. They provide vibrant results as the light forming the image is more specific to the requirements of the film or sensor.
ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching either the sensor of a digital camera or the film plane of a traditional film camera. Neutral Density filters are used to create some unusual special effects such as capturing the "blur" of the rippling water of a waterfall or the swirling effect of city traffic.
This kit includes an assembled filter holder, a 0.6 Hard ND, a ProGlass 0.6ND Standard and a cleaning cloth. These glass ND filters are optimized for use with digital cameras as they absorb more infrared and UV light than traditional ND filters.
This kit comes packed in a triple pouch, and is an ideal way to get the best results with your digital SLR.

Okay, the Lee holder and filters are great, no question but since they're in such great demand I had to go for the DSLR starter kit rather than the Foundation kit which happened to come into stock after my DSLR starter kit was delivered.
The reason for this is that with the Foundation Kit you're not paying for any of the less popular filters that Lee bundles with the Starter kits.
On top of that, I'm pretty sure that the kit I received had been returned by someone else, not that there was anything wrong with it, just saying, there's no discount on resold items.
B&H's delivery charges and service were excellent as they always are and I also understand that this is retail etc.
Anyway, my advice is to go for the Lee Foundation Kit over either of the two starter kits unless of course you're very sure that you will have need for the bundled filters in said kits. As it happens, I've actually used them on one shoot, so I suppose it's not a total loss.
The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is because of the lack of availability and the steep pricing. Other than that, it's an excellent filter system and you will get great shots once you've learnt how to use them.

Excellent filters. My only complaint is the filter storage case is way too bulky to fit in my bag. Going to have to buy something small for each filter to be able to carry them along with having to juggle multiple cases.

I like how solid this is and the quality of the filters. Only used once, but seemed very well made.
Unfortunately, had to wait almost 3 months until it was in stock for them to send it to me.

Comments about LEE Filters Digital SLR Starter Kit:
I've used other filters before and the Lee filters seem to be of higher quality. The filter holder itself seems more durable and easy to use/rotate. Very happy with the purchase. Unfortunately, I had to wait three months until I was contacted that they had this product in stock.

Comments about LEE Filters Digital SLR Starter Kit:
I use it to set the sky and slow down the exposure time for landscape shots. The filters are held tight yet easy to set the graduate line without a fuss. The storage case does not have a soft liner on all sides so i wrap the filters in micro fiber cloths before putting then in the case.

Comments about LEE Filters Digital SLR Starter Kit:
Quality is great on this unit. I use this for landscape photography and it is a must in my gear bag! If you are considering this unit, BUY IT. There are several great reviews online. The only gripes I have are that it's difficult to find a lot of the LEE products in stock and I wish it came with 3 stop filters instead of 2.

Comments about LEE Filters Digital SLR Starter Kit:
There's a reason why the LEE starter kit is in high demand even at it's high price. And that reason is because it's amazing.
If you really want to improve your landscape photography, a bag full of filters is a good way to start. I used to rely on grad filters in post to bring back some detail and reign in my exposure, but I was losing so much detail and contrast. Using LEE filters allows me to quickly, easily, and accurately dial in my exposure to make great images straight out of the camera.
Spend the money and buy quality products. It will save you in the long run and help you make better images.

Comments about LEE Filters Digital SLR Starter Kit:
Bought to get started with large filters. I got tired of buying duplicate round filters for my lenses in various sizes or using step up rings. The biggest attraction for me was the ability to easily slide and rotate a gradated filter, which is impossible to do with round screw-on filters.
The kit is really not a discount considering all the parts, but you get everything you need in one box, except for the adapter rings. DON'T FORGET: You will need to get an adapter ring that fits your lens' filter size. This kit does NOT include one!
The filter holder and filters are of great quality, but the case is bulky and the pockets don't seem to protect the filters very well. The material inside is not very soft.
I've taken many photos of beach scenes and landscapes since I got the kit a couple weeks ago, and the 4x6 GND in the kit does a fantastic job. Haven't used the 4x4 ND much, but I have used the system with the HiTech ProStop 10 and couldn't be happier.
A question I had a hard time finding the answer to online was: How many filters can the holder accommodate at one time? The answer is: Exactly two.

I have not worked much with filters, but was looking for a way to enhance my landscape photos. The Lee Filter system worked out great. It's easy to use and offers me more options in creating more spectacular skies.

Comments about LEE Filters Digital SLR Starter Kit:
First off, 3/4 of a star off because it's really expensive. Another 1/2 star off because the supplied case is rather lame, and doesn't seem to protect the filters from scratches. It seems that the internal fabric is rather coarse and may scratch their expensive contents (the pricey filters). A 1/4 star added back on for them supplying a case at all. End result: 4 stars.
The filters themselves seem to be really well made. I've seen YouTube vids of the manufacturing at Lee's factory and they are truly painstakingly handmade.
In my kit, the grad filter's tint was crooked by a bit, but it's not a big deal as it is so easy to rotate the holder to get the break line where I want it. I imagine some people will complain that the break is not perfectly at right angles to the filter edges, but it really makes no difference in the functionality of the grad.
The holder allows the filters to slide fairly easily, yet still holds them where you want them. The holder has exactly two slots, one for each filter in the kit. I can easily see a need for getting a kit to add more slots later.
The choice of filters in the kit are pretty good. If I was to change anything, I would like the 4x4" (100 x100 mm) filter to be a 0.9 rather than a 0.6. But the 0.6 is a good starting point.
The holder also holds my Hitech CR39 Prostop 10 filter securely.
Heading to Iceland next week to shoot waterfalls, which is why I got this system. If I find any faults, I'll post them when I get back.
Don't forget to get an adaptor ring(s) for your lens(es). Adaptor rings are NOT included with this kit.

Comments about LEE Filters Digital SLR Starter Kit:
I am a photo enthusiast who, until lately, has concentrated my photography efforts on people and animals. I wanted to capture scenic images but did not want to spend a fortune gearing up with expensive filters to fit multiple lens sizes to do so. The Lee Digital SLR Starter Kit is of high quality, is priced right and can be used on all of my lenses (with the proper adapter ring) thus allowing me the opportunity to dabble in yet another facet of digital photography.
