I bought these looking for speakers for my college dorm room because its going to be the party room. im expecting to have between 15-25 people in there and i wanted a dependable speaker because my roomates have no common sense when it comes to blowing speakers... so i figured sony was a solid name. I got the speakers 3 weeks ago and have had them in a basement with a low ceiling but its still 35 feet long.. i have the speakers pushing out thru an oldschool fischer that pushes 100W per channel. i havent put the speakers anywhere near full blast because they get rediculously loud. ive had them up around 80 watts and certain parts of my house shake. the sound quality is very very good for a 100 set of 2.. even saying that price aside these speakers sound very good. in no way are they shelf speakers though.. they are about the height of a tv stand if you can picture that.. i honestly couldnt be more happy with these they honestly compete with the bose radio i have in my car. if you hook the hunddred dollar woofer up it honestly would sound like a symphony. overall these are very well made speakers that will definately fill a room and are plenty loud for dance parties and can quiet down and be hidden and sound great in a family house too

Comments about Sony SS-B3000 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers:
for the money you won't find a better speaker. Don't purchase these if you're looking for bass boomers, but if you're looking for a quality speaker with great clarity there probably isn't a better deal.

Use these speakers and front speakers in the family room.
Sound is full range from good base to very high treble. For this pricepoint you can't find a better speaker.

Comments about Sony SS-B3000 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers:
I had been shopping for a good pair of replacement speakers and I read good ratings on these. I would not consider these 'bookshelf' speakers because of the dimensions. The speakers themselves look great and fit well with any black motif. These ain't no Klipsch speakers but they do sound great and don't break the bank. These stack up well to polkaudio speakers. The high end is very crisp and clear. The midrange is tight. The low end is a tad muddy but still very good. I would highly recommend these speakers if you can get them at a good price.

Comments about Sony SS-B3000 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers:
A few years back, I bought a pair of Sony SS-MB350H speakers. These were mounted on the walls in our Community Center as part of a new PA system. It is really two rooms with a foldable divider wall. I mounted one in each room. They do a wonderful job when we combine the rooms for large meetings, and they sound terrific! So six months later when we needed new speakers in our school gymnasium with attached stage (we are a small town with a small school), I bought another pair. Amazingly, with proper placement, they fill the gym quite well.
Recently, our little town decided to break the winter blues by putting on an amutuer Cabaret show in the Community Center. During the first rehersal, I realized that we needed two more speakers to support the sound for live musical numbers. From the specs, I could see that the SS-B3000 is the current incarnation of the SS-MB350H, and still at a great price. So I bought a pair and added one each on the other side of the rooms.
Wow! With the new ported bass reflex design, they sound even better than the SS-MB350H's (but match pretty well). And it's amazing how much power these things can handle without breaking up (but I try not to push them).
I haven't tried any of the other speakers in this line, but with the B&H great price and free shipping, I don't think you could beat the SS-B3000 pair or one of it's brothers for small to medium stereo and PA systems.

A great value for the price. They look very nice in the bookshelves in my office. The clarity and range of sound is very good for bookshelf speakers. Would definitely recommend for an application such as an office or small living room.

Speakers are great and the price is good. B&H packaged these things up great. They made the trip all the way to western canada without being damaged.
Comments about Sony SS-B3000 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers:
I added these with a center speaker (also from Sony) to complete my surround system. I was amazed at their bass and mid-range reproduction, very powerful. I don't have a sub-woofer and I don't feel like I'm missing anything. Without a center though, vocals and highs are quite muddy, so I would not recommend these for a music/stereo system (I have a dedicated audiophile set-up, these cannot even compare.) As part of a surround system though, I can't imagine there being much better for the price.
Comments about Sony SS-B3000 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers:
These speakers are an overall good to above average speaker. I am running them through a Pioneer SX-680, which produces some very good sound. They sound better mounted on a pedestal or table, rather than on the floor. You just aren't going to get better sound buying a cheap iHome system for the same price.

These speakers are a classic design. They are well constructed, especially for the price. I was surprised how big they actually are, and I don't see them fitting on a normal bookshelf. The sound quality is good, but the mids are lacking a bit of range in my opinion. Overall a great buy for the $$$.

Comments about Sony SS-B3000 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers:
Like most of the other reviews, the sound of these speakers are pretty decent throughout their range. Bass is adequate but don't expect the world at this price. I purchased these for our cottage stereo/tv and I'm happy with the results. If this was for everyday use or larger rooms, I'd keep looking. Lastly, these are fairly sizable so be sure to measure your intended "bookshelf".

I was looking for a pair of speakers for my bedroom. I came upon these speakers at another sight where they were reviewed very favorably. I have used [@] for my photo needs for years and was happy to see that they were carried. There were also many positive reviews. I have been using them for a while and usually listen to classical music. I was expecting them to sound very good--especially considering the cost--and I was not disappointed. These speakers are a fabulous buy. They are a bit larger than the usual "bookshelf speaker" but that is not a problem. They come in the color of black which is o.k. but I prefer a "wood grain" finish--no big problem. All in all a great buy for a small to medium sized room.
