Senal SMH-1000 Professional Field and Studio Monitor Headphones
Sugg Retail Price: $99.99

The MDR-7506 is a staple within the recording, film and live arenas. Due to its low impedance and closed ear design, the headphone does an outstanding job of cutting down background noise while providing plenty of volume in the studio or in the field. Additionally, the closed design helps eliminate "headphone bleed" when overdubbing in the studio.

The MDR-7506 is an around-the-ear design and is ideal for use with MIDI workstations, camcorders or other equipment with less than powerful headphone amplification. The headphone has a foldable design, making it convenient to store or transport, and its coiled cable allows it to stretch and spring back into place whenever you need a bit more reach.

Circumaural closed-back stereo headphone ideal for use in professional applications
40mm diameter drive units deliver deeper bass, lower distortion and wider dynamic range
Neodymium magnets for maximum energy and minimum size

Coiled cable allows for better mobility, and reach, while also preventing snags from tugging the headphones right off your ears

I use these every day in my job. I work in the games industry, and I needed a pair of headphones with great audio quality for game dialogue. I also wanted headphones that could block out noise without noise-canceling technology. These headphones really help block out the noise around me - even better than my Bose noise-canceling headphones. When the Bose would cut out ambient noise, they voices around me were much more prominent. These effectively work as mufflers, helping to block out the ambient noise and the voices. The sound quality is also fantastic - I've heard things in dialogue (such as a tiny chair squeak) that others could not detect. These have been a great choice for work. They are also durable - I've dropped them a few times and dragged them along with my rolling chair and they still look new. They fold up, which is also handy and came with a carrying case. I only gave them four stars because I have a small head and the headband portion makes my head sore if they aren't in exactly the right position.

1/4" jack was faulty right out of the box. Easy to replace but annoying for a supposed high quality set of headphones.

These headphones were recommended for my video recording, but I have also used them when playing music on my iMac at night. I have heard separation that I never even noticed before with music i have often played. Great sound for the money.

              Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

The MDR-7506 hits the sweet spot in terms of price to performance. They sound better than most $300 headphones and have existed in this same form since 1991.

The coiled cord means these really aren't suitable for use on the go. Keep them at your desk.

You'll eventually need inexpensive replacement ear cups. Mine started flaking away (kind of gross, actually) after a few years.

                Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

This is the second of these headphones I've owned. The last set wore out after ~12 years. I like them because they fold up to a nice compact size in my camera case, are comfortable for long shoots, and are good quality. They don't eliminate outside sound, so I often initially listen with my hands held over the sides pressing them into my ears. I don't mind that they don't eliminate background noise because fairly often on a shoot it is good to be able to hear nearby sounds, especially of the sound source in the camera is from wireless lavs a distance away.

I've started using the MDR 7506s for mixing at our Church and I love em, they sound perfect for my job, the only con I see is the coily cord and if youre not hanging them they tend to try to fold up on ya when you go to grab them. But Im still glad I got them.

                    Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

I bought these to replace a set of Sony MDR-V600 that wore out. I am very familiar with this line of Sony cans. These, compared to the ones I've used over the past ten years seem a tad lighter, smaller... not cheaply built, but just not as much mass as they used to be.I am used to the flat frequ range and absolutely HATE headphones that bump up all that bass mess. I need a flat range to mix. So, no prob here.I use them for recording broadcast interviews and mix video. Not sure if they would be my first choice for music.I will say that if you are looking for a set that will block out external sounds..... these will not isolate. I'm fine with that as I don't have to constantly pull them off a ear to hear what people are saying.I don't have a problem with them... but I do agree that Sony could have knocked off $ by not using that ridiculous (wasteful) packaging it came in.

I use these phones for final mixdown and mastering. I would recommend these phones to any pro looking for an uncolored sample of your audio.

I've used them for almost 20yrs! They are the industry standard for broadcast sound... A well built tough design that sounds good, for a fair price!

                                Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

I connect these headphones into a Sony Playstation Vita and listen to songs using the Sony Music Unlimited application. This gives me adequate emphasis of bass to help me determine the notes which are sometimes difficult to hear and decipher.

When wanting to play along to the music simultaneously using either guitar or bass, I simply plug MDR-7506 through the headphone port on subwoofer/amp combo or DI box. The Playstation Vita is then connected to auxillary port using appropriate auxillary cable. I then have the option of muting the output to the internal speaker depending on whether or not I want my neighbors to hear.

MDR-7506 also come with a pouch to carry headphones and cable in. The earpads are soft which make extended listening appropriate. Though, I am fearful these pads may breakdown or tear at a faster rate or higher percentage. This is ok since the earpads themselves can be replaced without buying a complete new product.

Another concern is the thin wire connection run independently to the left and right speakers. They could become caught within the sliding adjustment piece that is used to accomodate different head sizes. No worry just something to be aware and cautious of in advance.

Overall, the sound is excellent with great clarity and bass. The price was just right for my budget. I wanted to splurge and spend more on this component of my system. However, after testing several other higher priced models, I simply could not justify passing up the quality this unit provided. Legitimacy confirmed!

I bought these for personal home use. After reading the reviews I expected to hear angels sing when I tried them. Not so much. Decent sound, uncomfortable on the ears, plastic all over. Awkward storage configuration. Makes me wonder what all the people giving these 4 or 5 stars were listening to previously. I don't usually write reviews like this.
I have a set of Klipsch one and Able Planet noise cancelling headphones that sound just as good if not better.
