Night Owl Optics takes pride in providing you with consistent, top quality products. They maintain their position as an industry leader in night vision technology by integrating state-of-the-art concepts and designs into all of their night vision monoculars, binoculars and flip-up goggles.

Night Owl's iGen 20/20 Day and Night Vision Monocular takes the world of night vision to new levels with a new technology, and a stunning form factor. Instead of relying upon ubiquitous intensifier tube technologies, Night Owl has incorporated an extremely sensitive video capture system into the iGen 20/20.

This versatile monocular can be used 24/7 without compromise. When ambient light-levels prohibit clear detailed viewing, simply adjust the variable frame rate to enhance the light-gathering abilities of the monocular. The integral IR illuminator features a smart-circuit that automatically adjusts to accommodate ambient lighting conditions.

The iGen 20/20 features a mid-range level of magnification, making it an excellent choice for outdoor viewing. Its simple yet dynamic form factor offers a secure grip for both right and left handed users, and the controls are easy to locate, intuitive and very accessible.

There are many different variables that affect the distance that one can see with a night vision device, among them the object's size, the level of details being sought from the object and the conditions of observation. Night vision devices detect much further under a full moon and clear skies than they will under a new moon and cloudy skies. Many different formulas are used to determine the statistic of maximum viewing range and this varies by manufacturer, so ultimately the generation of the intensifier tube is much more relevant than any quoted statistic when determining the maximum viewing range.

All night vision devices sold by B&H have mechanisms in place to protect the intensifier tube from a sudden burst of bright light, but this does not mean that bright light doesn't damage the device. No matter what, bright light in any form is not good for the longevity and performance of image intensifier tubes.

Comments about Night Owl Optics iGen 20/20 2.6x Day & Night Vision Monocular:

Did quite a bit of research on night vision technology and was quite surprised by the reviews for Night Owl technology. I am very familiar with video cam infra red quality and low light night technology as well as image quality. The iGen 20/20 is superior in all aspects and very easy to use.

I cannot tell you how amazing this monocular is. I am speechless. It is worth 3 times more for what you get. Just buy it, you will not be disappointed. Thank you who ever made this. Also have to say B&H are super professional. Enquired about monocular and got a reply that same day and also a invoice set up if I wanted to purchase it. I was so impress dealing with B&H. Wish we had a company like this here in Australia, thank you B&H

Comments about Night Owl Optics iGen 20/20 2.6x Day & Night Vision Monocular:

For the price and the image quality this unit is pretty darn good. Defeintily better than anything Gen 2 and comprable to some Gen 3's. You will need the IR in most cases but the ability to adjust the frame rate is an additional bounus. I've not heard back on its operating range from the company so I'm not sure how cold and heat may affect its perfomance. The only thing I see needed is a way to hook a wrist or neck strap to this unit, but since it had a bipod mount this can be remedied with the addition of a camera d-ring for the bipod mount. Included case can be mounted on a belt or other gear.

Comments about Night Owl Optics iGen 20/20 2.6x Day & Night Vision Monocular:

This really is comparable to Gen 2 night vision. Once you get used to the controls and focusing the scope, it is quite easy to view things in the dark. I found the white and black color scheme to be the best when it comes to recognizing animals in the dark. Also, you don't have to worry about accidentally pointing the scope at a bright light and ruining the device like some regular night vision. Definitely a good deal if you need to see in low light conditions. One of my friends used it to look up at the sky and could see many more stars and satellites than were visible with the naked eye. You won't be disappointed with this scope.

This is so much clearer than my older yukon gen1. The adjustments are easy and the picture is very clear. The best feature is how you can adjust the picture brightness so your vison won't be screwed up after you put the nv down. I am extremely satisfied.

I have use 2X other types of night vision. 1st for USD $60 less in price and 2nd USD $20 more in price. The 1st: night vision stoped on 184m and the 2nd: 290m. The iGen 20/20 can see more than 100yards and have a clear screen edge to edge and is far beter than the other one's I tested.

Comments about Night Owl Optics iGen 20/20 2.6x Day & Night Vision Monocular:

Dont expect military grade for this price, but its actually well build, has several good features, ease of use, pretty good range and picture quality. I have now used it for a month under different conditions and so far it surpass my expectations. The video output is also a nice feature and function well.

The enclosed "manual" is a lousy print. Better download the electronic version and keep it for reference in your computer, iphone, ipad or whatever pdf reader source you have. I however identified a few minor improvement options:

                    1. Would be good if iGen could enclose just a normal cheap plastic lens cap for the main lens as well as the IR. The metal pin-hole cap is too complicated to unscrew or add as a "standard" lens cap if its pitch dark (and where you don't need it), but wanna protect the lens(es) before you put it in your pocket. OK, I found one in my old "lens-cap-collection".

                    2. Its not possible to add a neck strap and since the unit is somewhat heavy to dump in the nearest pocket, such would be convenient too.
