Comments about Celestron 500x Advanced Biological Microscope:
Many top features for a microscope in this price range. Features such as the mechanical stage and Abbe condenser are usually found only in units in the $250-$300 range. The only disappointment was the lack of LED illumination as stated in the specifications. It does have tungsten illumination which is adequate for most work. The unit is well built and sturdy, and the optics are surprisingly good. I bought an extra 100x used Zeiss objective lens for added magnification, and it works well with the microscope. I should add that that one objective lens cost almost as much as the entire microscope. All in all, a lot of microscope for the money.

Comments about Celestron 500x Advanced Biological Microscope:
I intend to use this to help identify diseases and 'pests' in my vegetable garden. For the money, this is a well-built microscope with good options. The owner's manual is not very helpful and I contacted Celestron; they don't have an alternative, but are very helpful if you call and ask for help. This scope came with a blue filter; I've contacted B&H and Celestron trying to obtain a yellow and green filter for this scope (Celestron's 1000X microscope comes with all 3 filters), but with no luck. I've searched the web for these two small, colored pieces of plastic and can't find them anywhere. Bottom line: This is really a good microscope and I would recommend it to a friend. Sincerely, Gardening in Florida

Comments about Celestron 500x Advanced Biological Microscope:
Bought this product for my middle-school age daughter. This product is high quality and a great value for the money. I purchased a cheap unit from [...] for Christmas and I was very dissapointed and threw it away. Then, I purchased this Celestron 44104. It has a moving slide table which is fabulous. The led light source is very nice as well.Be prepared to clean the lenses before use as they collect dust during transport.

Comments about Celestron 500x Advanced Biological Microscope:
Very sturdy and extremely well made. Great value for the price. I use the optional light, rather than trying to adjust the mirror. Only two negative comments: (1) The focus with the 4X and 10X lenses are very sharp; the focus with the 40X lens is a bit fuzzy (but perhaps it's simply that an inexpensive 40X lens can't be expected to be crystal clear). (2) The owner's manual is too brief and doesn't cover a lot of subjects. For examples, there are many markings on the scope that aren't explained, and a filter is provided with no instructions how to use it.
On balance, for me it's a nice toy (I'm retired).

Comments about Celestron 500x Advanced Biological Microscope:
I got the microscope to introduce my grandkids to the microscopic world. I had a microscope when I was a child and that is why I later majored in biology. The microscope is very well made--not like the cheap plastic toys I found in toy stores--and it is a good investment. It is not hard to use and will provide all of us a lot of enjoyment.
