Comments about Celestron Model #44202 Advanced Stereoscopic Dissecting Microscope:

I'm no expert on microscopes. I purchased this to experiment on doing a photography series on micro-images.

For the price I think it's a decent zoom/dissecting microscope. Based on my own use and viewing, I don't feel the optics are fantastic, but reasonable considering the price. It's a great starter scope or for very occasional use.

The lighting system from the bottom is far from ideal. It's not diffused enough. There is a over exposed area where the bulb is. The bulb must be directly below the glass plate with no diffusion other than the obscured glass itself.

You get what you pay for, and this is a low end starter zoom scope. The head is mostly metal construction, and the base is plastic.

It comes with plastic bag like cover, no case.

Recommended for the price and for beginners or experimenters, not a quality lab device, or for constant use.
