I purchased 4 of these mic's to mic people giving toasts at weddings. Plan was to plug them into Olympus LS-7 digital recorders. I tested them out and they are loud... actually too loud where the recording actually peaked a little. I tested the exact set up with some matchstick mics I already own and no peaking. Matchsticks are double the price but better product.

We wanted a simple, quality lapel mic to plug into a digital recorder to record a Bible study. I don't know anything about phantom power from the recorder or having to have an external power source for the mic, I just wanted to plug a mic into the recorder and record. This mic did just that, and at an awesome price. Plug and play, great sound, perfect cord length. However, the mic does pick up well, so if you have a "hollow" room, it will sound hollow. The mic is great, our room is not the best for recording.

I placed it carefully inside my classical guitar where it connects to the pre-amp in addition to the pick-up that it comes with. It works very nicely as it grabs the sound echoed by the guitar itself to complement the sound from the strings on the saddle.
