Comments about Classic Pen for Wacom Intuos2 Tablets:

It's a mechanically good tablet pen, functions as required and is a decent replacement for the original Wacom classic grip pen that came with the Intuos2 tablet. The things I don't love about it are that it's not as ergonomic as the original. The original was thicker in the area near the button with a soft sleeve. This new one is all one piece. The original could be taken apart to clean out the lint & gunk. And this new one is very lightweight. The original had a better weight to it. The pen stand they send you doesn't exactly fit this pen because it's not as thick as the original. I added some folded paper to mine to make up for it being so thin.

New Life for an Old Tablet

Comments about Classic Pen for Wacom Intuos2 Tablets:

I bought this to replace my original Grip Pen, which had died- more on that later.

Now, I found my old Grip Pen more comfortable, due to the larger, rubberized grip. HOWEVER, this is cheaper, easier to find for sale, and there is a trick that will let you put the rubber grip from your old pen the Classic (assuming the grip is in good shape). The side switch on the "Classic" is not removable, which presents a minor obstacle- the grip has a thin area with two holes in it for the Grip Pen's removable switch to pass through. But you can easily cut this thin area out with an X-acto knife, and the grip will slide right onto the Classic Pen, fitting tight, with the side switch accessible through the hole you cut. The switch will be a bit recessed within the grip hole, which makes it a bit more difficult to access- but it also makes it harder to hit ACCIDENTALLY, which I often found myself doing before.

Now as to why I bought it. My old Intuos2 tablet was intermittantly producing EXTREMELY wobbly lines- like sine curves- when I drew a diagonal stroke. But pulling the original Grip Pen away from the tablet and shaking it would solve the problem for a few minutes, so I figured it might be the pen- I purchased one of these, and I was right. Not only did that problem go away, but overall accuracy is definitely improved. If your old tablet seems to be wearing out, getting a new pen might be the solution, instead of throwing away hundreds on a new one. With all the interest in Multitouch and tablet displays now, Wacom will probably have alot of competion for the Cintiq and prices are likely to drop. Now (July 2012) is a bad time to buy a non-display tablet (like the intuous) and getting a new pen could tide you over until the new tech is available.

Comments about Classic Pen for Wacom Intuos2 Tablets:

I never use the 'rocker switch' and on the previous model, I was able to unsnap it. The newer model has it fixed which I find so annoying when I accidentally press it. Also the narrower diameter isn't as comfortable and I wrapped it to build it up.
Other then these small details, the Wacom in general is an indispensable tool for Photoshop.

Had to buy a new one because the dog ate the old pen. This is light weight and easy to handle. Not as nice as the comfort grip I had perviously, but good enough and priced well to last the lifetime of the tablet. Would recommend it for its price.
