The Travel Smart by Conair PS-200E Auto Adjust Smart Converter Set is an auto-sensing voltage converter kit that converts foreign voltage (220 / 240 VAC) to USA voltage (110 / 120 VAC). It also automatically selects low or high power settings depending on the appliance used.
- Converts 220 / 240 V foreign electricity to 110 / 120 V
- Automatically selects low (0-49 watts for electric shavers, battery chargers, etc.) or high setting (50-2000 watts for irons, hair dryers, etc.).
- For low setting: 30 watts appliances can be used for long periods of time. Appliances with 30 - 49 watts can be used for approx. 30 min. Appliances with electric circuitry can be used on low setting only if rated 0-25 watts.
- For high setting: Don't use with appliances that feature electric circuitry and are rated higher than 50 watts. Use appliances for short periods of time (approx. 30 min).
- Do not use with appliances rated 110 / 120 V that are equipped with ALCI-ground fault interrupter (reset button). Do not use with power strips
- Solid state circuitry with high and low wattage indicator lights.
- Circuit breaker reset button to correct accidental overloads.
- Set includes 5 polarized adapter plugs and zippered travel pouch.

Since this converter is designed for hair products, I ran to get it before a trip to England. I read all the details, and it seemed to be okay for my hair iron. It comes zipped up in a neat pouch with various adapters, which is a nice feature.
However, I plugged in my hair iron in the UK, and the screen flashed for three seconds before going blank. I had read the instructions repeatedly, and it said not to use with "electronic circuitry" products, and perhaps this is what they meant - an iron with a digital display?
I tried the converter with my blow dryer, and that went on. But my iron is officially dead. A return to the States did not resuscitate it; I've had to buy another one.
Needless to say, I returned the converter. It should have clearer instructions about which products are not compatible with it, so I didn't have to be stranded in a foreign country without backup for my hair.

This thing says it doesn't work with electric circuit devices lice computer or anything that has some electric brain in it. This product is ONLY good for hair driers and irons.
DON'T BUY IT UNLESS YUO WANT TO DAMAGE YOUR EQUIPMENT.
Your equipment may survive if it requires really low power but otherwise you are risking.
I don't undertand why B&H is selling it without any notice.
