These brackets are great! I bought two brackets to use with my light stands and Nikon speedlights. I plan to add softboxes soon. The brackets should work equally well with dedicated studio stobes and softboxes.

My light stands have standard 5/8-inch diameter tops, so I removed the bottom removable studs that came with the brackets and mounted the brackets directly on the light stands. This is nice, because fewer mechanical connections make for a more secure system.

Similarly, I did not use the included cold shoe, because I screwed my Nikon speedlight stands directly to a top male studs. I prefer the Nikon speedlight stand to the cold shoe, because the speedlight locks in to the stand with a pin. However, having the cold shoe may come in handy some day. Some competing products don't include a cold shoe.

Having the removable studs gives me flexibility. In other circumstances, such as when I mount one of the brackets on a tripod, I can just insert the removable stud and screw the combination to the tripod's bolt. Actually, I keep a couple of old tripods for this purpose, and I leave a removable stud screwed to each tripod. That way, I can just drop a bracket on a stud, tighten the securing bolt on the bracket and go.

I found the knobs on the securing bolts to be comfortable to use and easy to tighten and loosen. In addition, the securing bolts hold the studs, light stand, umbrella rod, etc. securely, without having to over-tighten them. Similarly, the angle adjusting handle is well designed. It's spring loaded and pulls out slightly, so you can change its angle, without loosening or tightening the angle hold. This is nice, because, after tightening the angle hold, I can make the handle point down, so it won't catch a cable or someone walking by the stand.

The bracket allows me to adjust the angle of the light over just about 180 degrees, so I can point a light anywhere from straight up to straight down.

The body of the bracket appears strong and well made. Although the body is plastic, it is reinforced in critical places with metal. Everything (except the removable studs, which are invisible in use) is flat black.

The price is right, and I can't think of anything I'd like improved.

I'm afraid to bear down too too much on any of the screws. The plastic used doesn't give me much confidence that it won't crack if you are in a hurry and tighten it too much. The screw used to tighten the umbrella stem is tapped straight into the plastic which makes me feel like that can be stripped if tightened too much. That same screw should also be a little larger diameter to give a larger contact surface on the umbrella shaft. The small diameter screw can dent and damage a hollow umbrella shaft. I also wondered if the heat from a tungsten fixture I secured via a stud would melt the bracket any- it didn't under an hour's use. But again, with care it should last. And although it is a highly designed and engineered piece of plastic, it's still a piece of plastic that looks almost identical to another bracket I purchased 7 years ago. So wether the designs were purchased from another manufacturer, or copied, or the bracket has been in production for a decade, I suspect a $10 or $15 price tag would still make the business plenty of profit.

Comments about SP Studio Systems Multi-Bracket:

This bracket securely holds a flash and umbrella, as expected. Some notes: the fit and finish are not as good as on higher end brackets; the thumb screw that secures the umbrella bites into plastic rather than a metal nut, so it will eventually strip; the cold shoe flash clamp is hard to twist (it's tiny and very poorly threaded). On the plus side, the bracket is easy to adjust for angle and works well enough for the money. There are cheaper brackets available through other retailers, but B&H's honesty and integrity makes the sale worthwhile.

Use the product for supporting lighting setups.

I have a few of these already and was supprised to see that now it includes two spigots, one male threaded and one female threaded.

One thing I would change: the length of the threaded knob used to secure an umbrella. I have umbrellas that have smaller diameter shafts and the knob just won't tighten deep enough to secure them. I had to source and buy other knobs to do the job.

Comments about SP Studio Systems Multi-Bracket:

This is the third one of these multi-brackets that I have purchased. I bought the first two about 5 years ago, for mounting speedlites and umbrellas on light stands for a portable portrait studio setup. I bought 3 lightstands at the same time, but used the third stand to hold a reflector. I recently started shooting portraits with a 3rd speedlite, placed either as a hairlight or to light the background, so I needed another of these brackets.

The only modification I make to these brackets is to apply a layer of tape to the inside surface of the cold shoe, to avoid any potential shorting of the speedlite's contacts. I don't know how likely such shorting might be, but the tape provides a quick, easy, inexpensive and longlasting solution for simple peace of mind.

There are no doubt sturdier and more durable implementations than this mostly plastic bracket, but these do the trick for me.

Just recently got serious about flash photograph and this product is a great value. I already had an old Smith Vitor hot light set and this bracket allows me to use the light stands with my speed light flash and a small flash umbrella and I can use larger umbrellas if I need to. It does what I need it to do without breaking my budget. Great for anyone who like me is just starting out and looking for good and inexpensive additions to their kit.

I've bought this one instead of buying the interfit one because this was free shipping. my coworkers use the interfit ones and they said they were great. I've ordered this one because they looked same. However, I've dropped the light stand with the bracket attached. There was no flash on the bracket, just bracket and the light stand. And i've dropped the lightstand from like 1 feet away from the ground. the bracket was broken into half.

I really like the price and the tilt adjustment handle. Overall the bracket works as I expected with one notable concern. I use a Canon 430 speedlight and due to the height above the tilt axis and the fact that the speedlight cannot tilt below 90 degrees there is a small mismatch between where the strobe fires and the upper edge of smaller umbrellas. This causes the light to spill a small amount above the umbrella.

These are cheap and get the job done for the most part. They are plastic which is nice for not adding weight. I use these with small off-camera flashes. Bigger equipment requires a heavy-duty metal swivel.

Works very well with my setup. Almost entirely plastic. It can hold the weight of my umbrella and SB-600.

Works as it should, but the screw stripped within a week. :(
I ended up just taking it out. It still works fine, but now there's no way to tighten down the umbrella, so if I have to have it at an extreme angle, it slides. Boo.

Now I have two identical multi-bracket swivels. I love the metal holders for the flash. The arm to adjust the tilt angle allows any adjustment, not notch by notch. The swivel brackets can be used on different size stand diameters for various applications.
