This is the Westcott Spiderlite TD3 Backlight Kit which is based on the Westcott Spiderlite TD3 light fixture. The TD3 accepts three 50 watt tungsten (2800° K), three 30 watt fluorescent (5500° K) bulbs, or two Studio Strobes and one modeling light.
This Spiderlite TD3 is equipped for use with 120 AC Voltage. However, it is designed to also function with 220 AC, and 12 volt lead acid, or 14.4 volt NiCad battery power, with the appropriate optional accessories (Click on the Accessories tab).
This kit includes a diffuser dome which is useful in directing and softening the light emitted to your background. It also doubles as a tube protector during transport and storage.
- The Backlight Stand rises to a maximum height of 3' (0.9 m). The riser is detachable, thus allowing your fixture to be mounted almost at floor level.
- The TD3 has all-metal construction with built-in points for direct attachment of a 12 x 16" softbox -- no adapter ring is necessary (For mounting larger or octagonal softboxes, order #3520 Adapter Ring).

I like the cool fluorescent TD3 continuos lighting system from Westcott, durable, adjustable light levels, easy to operate. This kit has a 3-light head with stand and a very unique reflector for keeping light spills off your subject and on the background. It even comes with a protective cover to protect the lamps so you can leave them on the head. The stand is short and just the right height. Very good design and construction overall. Certainly worth the investment.

Very soft even background light provides excellent separation. I have found this light works very well on location to fill shadows with soft even light. No more harsh strobe shadow casts.
