I purchased this adapter to replace the defective one that came in the Ranger kit. This new one works fine, but it doesn't lock down, it's wobbly, and when the PocketWizard ST4 is on it, it's not exactly solid. I would not advise moving or carrying the Ranger battery pack with the Adapter/Receiver attached.
Not only do you need it to use the Pocketwizrd ST4, but for the Elinchrom Skyports as well.
I recommend it because it's the only game in town

Great Adapter, you have to have it for the Pocket Wizard ST4 to connect to an Elinchrom Ranger Pack. It is great and works for indoor use but I would suggest getting the appropriate cord to raise the ST4 higher off the ground to achieve better range and consistency if used for outside on-location shoots.
