Product Highlights
  • Supports 4.5 lb (2 kg)
  • Quick Release
  • Aluminum Construction

The Slik Sprint Pro EZ Tripod (Aluminum) with Multi-Action Pan Head, as part of the Sprint series tripods, has been designed as the lightweight solution for the traveling photographer, weighing in at 2.82 lb (1.28 kg) including the pan head. It will support a maximum load of 4.5 lb (2 kg), the average SLR film or digital camera setup. The Sprint Pro EZ extends to a maximum operating height of 64.4" (16.4cm) and collapses down to a mere 19" (48.5cm) for convenient transportation. It also has neoprene grips for handling at any temperature, speed release leg locks and a gearless center column for quick height adjustments.

The included Slik SH-707E multi-action pan head has nearly a pound of finely cast and precisely machined aluminum. The single handle operation has just one control for both pan and tilt movements. These directions of movement make the head an ideal choice for long telephoto lenses like the 300mm f/2.8, 400mm f/5.6, 500mm f/4.5 or spotting scopes. The tension of movement can be adjusted by turning the release lever slightly to match the weight of the camera and lens being used.

The SH-707E also uses a fast and easy-to-use quick-release plate to securely mount your equipment to the tripod. The mount for the quick-release can rotate 360° and be locked down facing in any direction. Additionally, the SH-707E can be removed from the tripod so you can use a favorite head you already have or heads of a different style or purpose.

Decades of experience and a wealth of accumulated photographic knowledge, combined with state-of-the-art engineering, have been instrumental in helping Slik create tripods that are amazingly light, yet offer remarkable strength and stability.

I wanted to buy a Slik Sprint Pro tripod, and I opted for the version with the "EZ" pan head. This is the heaviest and the most expensive one of the three available heads, so I expected it to be the most sturdy, but also the most convenient version.

It *is* sturdy, but it is definitely *not* convenient. The head has a dual-axis bubble level, but it is *impossible* to level it in one of the axis -- it only tilts up and down, not left and right. The other bubble is there seemingly just to annoy. Sure, one can level the head by adjusting the lengths of individual legs, but how inconvenient is that?! I really don't think this is an acceptable head design for a general-purpose tripod, not at this price point.

In the end, I decided to return this tripod. I intend to go with a more traditional head next time, probably on the same "Slik Sprint Pro" legs, because the legs actually made a good impression on me: reasonably stable, long when extended, light, and relatively short when folded.

Comments about Slik Sprint Pro EZ Tripod (Aluminum) with Multi-Action Pan Head (Black):

I'm a film maker mainly and have only used it once while writing this review but I all ready like it. I'll just start from opening and playing with it. It looks and feels good, lightweight, came with a little carry bag which is nice and quality of material is good. Tightening and loosening to pan left, right, up, down is great and it doesn't take long to do so and still not compromise the other, meaning when loosening to pan left and right you can do so without worrying about it tipping from a heavy lens. It spreads out so it can get low to the ground which is a must have. The pan is smooth but if you slow down it does stick a tiny bit but nothing Warp Stabilizer or some oil won't fix. It's easy to carry around but that's also a con being light cause it shakes during a good wind. I think it's a great tripod set and good material for price. If you can and need something simple and good I'd start out with this. It'll do the job!

Just got this tripod and so far I'm very happy with it. Everything works as advertised, and I especially like the multi-action head which simplifies finding my subject quickly and accurately. For an aluminum, light-weight tripod it is remarkably sturdy and solidly built. The weight and size make it compact, and I look forward to trying it in the field.

Comments about Slik Sprint Pro EZ Tripod (Aluminum) with Multi-Action Pan Head (Black):

This tripod is very lightweight and compact, which makes it wonderful to tote around. I have mine constantly strapped to my bag and the pros of always having it with me far outweigh the cons. The legs provide good stability - and although the lower section is a bit thin - I have had no stability issues. The head included is good, however entering the vertical position is sometimes a hassle. This tripod also supports very low macro positioning which is a wonderful feature, but yet it is not a quick task to convert into the macro position.

The Sprint EZ tripod is light but very sturdy for those long glassing sessions.

Comments about Slik Sprint Pro EZ Tripod (Aluminum) with Multi-Action Pan Head (Black):

For around a hundred dollars I thought this tripod was a great bargain. I was considering a tripod and read good things about the Pro EZ on [@] so I went ahead and bought it. My 'tween daughter easily figured out how to set the tripod to its full height and collapsed it down into its carrying bag even quicker. The bottom rubber pegs unscrew and come off for secure footing outdoors. This is my first tripod so I only can compare it to what I see others use but I have to say, for [$] it is a great deal.

Comments about Slik Sprint Pro EZ Tripod (Aluminum) with Multi-Action Pan Head (Black):

I bought this tripod after looking and looking for one that was light weight, affordable, and of a quality build. This one fit the bill perfectly.

I took this all over the Rockey Mountains and found it to be sturdy, reliable, and easy to put up and take down. Also things that I wanted in a tripod.

I was also very happy with the head that came with it and the quick release plate never leaves my camera. The bubble level was also a greatly appreciated addition.

I would not hesitate to buy this one again and would also recommend it to anyone looking for a tripod that is high in quality but not in price.

I honestly can't think of anything I don't like about it and trust that if I could think of something I would certainly be pointing that out as well.
