The Slik SBH-280E Professional Ballhead with Quick Release is made from finely machined and carefully anodized hardened aluminum parts that are designed to give many years of trouble-free smooth operation.
SBH series ballheads feature an easy to use, single knob operation to lock or release the ball connected to the camera plate. The knob is oversized and has a well-textured surface for a sure grip in any condition.
The SBH-280E version is offered as a more economical choice to the SBH-280 DQ version. It still includes a quick release system, although of a simpler design.

I use this ball head on my U212 slik tripod and it works great! I have a 85-300mm lense on my DSLR Nikon camera and it holds all of it very well.

Comments about Slik SBH-280E Professional Ballhead with Quick Release:
I have a Slik Pro 500DX that came with a pan tilt head, and while the tripod legs are excellent, I wasn't too crazy about the pan tilt head that came with it. I don't do anything in the way of shooting video so I decided to upgrade to a ballhead. The SBH-280E is an excellent replacement for the standard head that comes on a Pro 500DX package. The only thing that takes some getting used to is that the ball itself, the collar that allows for a 90 degree tilt, and the base can all rotate separately. This doesn't take away from the head, it just adds a little bit of a learning curve to operate it smoothly. All in all, this is an extremely sturdy, well built ballhead that i throughly recommend.

This is an easy to use quick release head with a good range of motion. It holds my 270 zoom lens securely and, it fit my 25 year old SLIK tripod base!

Comments about Slik SBH-280E Professional Ballhead with Quick Release:
I have this atop a a Slik Pro 634CF and it works well. While it would be nice to have a tension knob as well as a locking knob, the single tension/locking knob does its job well. I've got at that point where I've got just enough tension to keep the camera in place, but it's not too tight where I can't maneuver it, and it does both without loosening itself. The dual-axis bubble levels are a bit finicky, but if you've got a dslr then it's no issue to fix it in post anyway.

WILD LIFE, LANDSCAPES,AND LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS. The comments in the stats says it will hold up to 8 pounds , but the owners manaul says it is good up to 15 pounds which is a plus! I attached this to my slik 700 pro.

Comments about Slik SBH-280E Professional Ballhead with Quick Release:
This is a very well designed and manufactured product. Heavy duty construction should last for years. Ball rotates very smoothly. I use relatively heavy equipment (Nikon 300s and Nikkor 17-55 F2.8 lens). This is a heavy camera and lens but this head holds it securely. Locking knob is very easy to engage and release. This is especially important for someone with arthritis in the fingers and thumb. Very easy to rapidly engage with a monopod. Manual says no lubrication needed for the unit.

Comments about Slik SBH-280E Professional Ballhead with Quick Release:
I have a really nice, older SLIK tripod. I like everything about it, except the old-fashioned, labor intensive head. It was so complicated to switch from horizontal to vertical and visa-versa that I just didn't use the tripod. I purchased the SBH-280E Professional Ballhead with Quick Release by Slik in order to transform my old tripod into a tool that I will use over and over.
This product provides a screw insert that will allow it to adapt to the old Slik tripod. If you want it for a newer tripod, the insert can be removed. I simply removed the original head from the tripod and screwed the new ball head into place.....Presto Chango! The ball head really simplifies tripod use. There is only one knob that controls every action. My camera is released from the tripod with the flip of one lever. I love it. I take my tripod on all my photo shoots now.
My one complaint is that I don't love carrying my tripod.....but that has nothing to do with the product.

I have been using the SBH280E with a SLIK PRO700DX tripod for nature shots around my property, it's rock solid when locked in,moves as smooth as silk when you need it to, and locks right back up. No creep, no slips.

Comments about Slik SBH-280E Professional Ballhead with Quick Release:
I needed a light tripod head to use when I travel but it needed to be able to support my camera and lenses, especially for vertical shots. I did some research and decided to purchase this head. I took it on a twelve day trip and used it every day. It worked like a charm. It is difficult to find a ball head with the level that is affordable but this head is a great value. I want to purchase the larger size to use on my large tripod.

I couldn't believe how hard it is to search online for a dual level ball head and finally I found one! This was recommended by my husband and I purchased this with the 190XB 3-SEC/FLIP LOCK/ALUMINUM TRIPOD by manfrotto.
At first I couldn't find how to remove the insert in the thread and thought it wouldn't fit my tripod--but it did. It took some adjusting to get used to having to line both levels up but made a huge difference in my photographs. I know some people don't care and use photoshop to align their photos but I'd rather get it right the first time. As a graduate photography student details are important. The product is also very well made and sturdy.

Ballhead seems solid, good construction, locks in tight even with my large format camera on it. Tension control would be nice, but for the money you can't complain. Wanted a lightweight head for backpacking and wanted bubble levels on it. This fit the bill. A little taller than I would prefer.

You'd think it was more common to find a lightweight ballhead with level bubbles and a quick release plate, but it's not. Enter the SBH-280E. I have been using it for a few weeks now, and the build quality is great. I'd give this 5 stars, except they should have offered an adapter to fit a different size thread to mount this onto.
