I store my gear in a Think Tank backpack and use this bag for shooting. I pick the items I need and leave the rest at home or in the car. The maximum I carry in this bag is the Nikon D700 without grip with a 24-70 2.8 attached, a 17-35 2.8, 50 1.4 and either the 70-200 2.8 or the 70-300 VR, plus a few related accessories. It works better with one camera and three lenses. If you need a large flash, two lenses might be the limit unless they are small. One great feature is the top zipper that allows direct access to the gear without needing to open the flap. I wanted a bag to work from that also had room for the camera. did not look like a camera bag and was not a backpack. It also needed to be able to hold the 70-200. I looked at a lot of other bags before selecting this one. The ohers were too small or too big, this seems to be the ideal size. I can carry what I need for most outings and even vacations. It is easy to carry either on the shoulder or across the body. It also has a pocket for a computer, but I don't use it unless I am flying because of the extra weight. Also the divider insert is removeable and it becomes a general use shoulder bag.

This is a well made small bag for walk around use. It has lots of pluses like attachment loops on the ends and the zip open top. It has lots of pockets but they are all small and the inside pockets are deep in the bag and covered by the padded insert. This bag will NOT accommodate an EOS5D size camera plus a laptop. It has one major flaw. The front closure straps have almost no adjustment and will not accommodate ANY overstuffing of the bag.

Comments about Tenba Messenger: Small Photo/Laptop Bag (Black):
Not well built as other people have said.
I´ve bought it for a 20 day walk-around bag for Disney/Universal Parks.
The good:
I Use it with my Canon T3i (gripped) and 3 lenses (canon 18-55, sigma 30mm 1.4 and a tamron 70-300 VC USD)
It can easily fit my T3i attached to the 70-300 with the hood reversed. The customizable compartments also let carry along my filters and extra batteries.
The ugly:
I´ve not liked the build quality of the metal clips. All the black color have gone away to a copper like color in 2 weeks of use. Leaving some black parts and some copper like parts.
To expensive for the quality it delivers.

Purchased this bag along with 3 others because I could not decide what one to get. The zipper in the top of the bag is nice but a little off center so it is a little clumsy. Lots of storage and would work good for laptop bag with secoundary use as a camera bag. Didn't like the shoulder strap as it was to thickly padded and wide when carried cross chest.

The Tenba Messenger Small Photo/Laptop Bag is great. I carry a Nikon D700 w/grip, 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, 50mm f/1.4 lens and an SB900, along with CF cards, batteries and and a 13.3 MacBook Pro (sometimes). The bag is incredibly well-crafted of excellent materials with loads of great features like extra storage compartments (two in the front with zippers), a back compartment for manuals, pads, or magazines and an easy access zipper on top to quickly remove and replace equipment without opening the front flap of the bag. You will not be disappointed with this bag.

Great messenger bag. Very high build quality. I got this bag for my dslr + 2 lenses and accessories. It has good compartments and can even hold my Nikon d5100 with 55-300mm lens mounted. The quick zipper on top is a great idea to quickly get to the camera. The camera section comes out to be used as a regular bag as well. The laptop section holds my 13" mac with room to spare.

It looks like your regular (albeit high-end) messenger until you unzip the top and pull out your camera! It has plenty of organizer pockets for most of your small items like your extra batteries, cards, and filters. The camera insert is configurable and removable so you can adapt the bag to different set-ups or even just remove it totally for use as a regular messenger. The carry handle and the shoulder straps are very comfortable even with the bag fully loaded with a camera set-up and a laptop.
It would have been great if it came with a rain cover though. ;)

I purchased this bag a few weeks ago, and I'm very happy with it. Quality construction, a nice array of pockets to use, and it's not too bulky. I have a 5D Mark II and while it is tight, it does fit with my 15" MacBook Pro.

I just got back from a photography vacation trip. I bought this bag for ease of access and a more secure way to carry my gear while walking by myself around a city I'm not familiar with. This bag worked perfectly. I have to say it's a tight fit with the my laptop in there, makes the bag really bulky and hard to close, but I only had the computer in there for travel. It definitely won't hold a laptop larger than 14". The rest of the time the bag worked out great. Plenty of room to old everything I needed to take with me out shooting. Really easy access for switching lenses on the fly.

Comments about Tenba Messenger: Small Photo/Laptop Bag (Black):
I bought this to take to China with me for a business trip. I figured I could keep my camera, 2 lenses, and also keep my laptop handy with a few other essentials. This turned out to be a very good bag.
I could easily fit my gear in here, I have a D700 and the best fit was when the 80-200 was on it inside the bag. On the side I had the 24-70 and then I carried my flash and hard drive in the other pocket. My 13" laptop fit just fine with all this gear. However when I tried to put a book or a couple of magazines inside with it, it seemed too bulky.
While none of the straps gave way it seemed like the carrying handle could use some more reinforcement as the stitching was stretching out pretty good. The other thing I didn't like as much is that you couldn't have a battery pack on the camera without the bag bulging out.
Overall it is a good bag to have on a trip as it looks both professional and inconspicuous.

I bought the bag for traveling, replacing a backpack. The Tenba has a bunch of pockets, some more useful than others but all together very handy. I needed something to carry my laptop and Nikon DSLR and 18-70mm and 10-24mm lens. The way the photo compartment is setup, I can even carry my 17-300mm with room to spare.
The biggest challenge was what size to buy. The small works the best for me. The mini a bit too small. The large a bit too large.

Comments about Tenba Messenger: Small Photo/Laptop Bag (Black):
I just received this bag via UPS and WOW, it is everything I was looking for. In fact, this will now server to replace three (3) separate Lowepro bags I had been using. The design is smart and functional with high-quality materials used throughout. The inside compartment is deep enough to accommodate multiple SB-900's and longer glass. The bottom has protection from standing water. And the pockets are plentiful and well positioned.
The only con I can see this far is that there is not a rain cover as with many other bags, and the cover flap does bend a bit too high when fully loaded with gear (although many bags seem to have this problem).
All in all, this was a great buy as this bag will now become my everyday bag for most shooting.

Comments about Tenba Messenger: Small Photo/Laptop Bag (Black):
Build quality is outstanding; just what you'd expect from Tenba. Materials used are top notch and construction shows an attention to detail. The removable padded camera section makes custom fitting the dividers easier than trying to do it while inside the bag. The top zipper is full length and provides access to the camera and contents without having to open the bag's flap; a real plus. There's an amazing amount of pockets, including several front zippered sections and a wider one for a small notebook or netbook. The strap loops are secure and shouldn't be an area of concern under stress. The bottom of the bag should do a good job of isolating the contents from dampness. The bag is comfortable to wear off the shoulder and even more comfortable across the chest.
Now for the peeves. The flap is held down using two clips and Velcro. While the clips are easy to open with one hand, the Velcro is very loud and won't be helpful when you're trying to be unobtrusive while shooting. The width of the bag looked like it could handle a DSLR with battery compartment without distorting the bag, but that's not the case. It puts pressure on the flap so a readjustment of the clip straps is necessary. The other issue is that with two lenses on either side of a down-facing camera, there's little width left for a flash. Only very slim accessories will fit. The shoulder pad provided is very wide, and while it does an excellent job of spreading the weight of the strap, it's way too massive to be undetected. This is not a good walk-around bag, but it's excellent for assignments. Finally, while this is a very capable bag, it's still three to four times the cost of a messenger bag from Lowepro. While there's no comparison between the bags when it comes to versatility and equipment safety, if you just need something inexpensive for dress-down shooting, the Tenba is simply way too much bag.

Very nice, solidly build, small bag (I would rather say medium) - snugly fits Nikon D7000 w/18-200 lens attached, extra lens, speed light, battery charger, manuals, wires... I would rated it 5 stars if it were better weather protected - there are openings on both sides at the top. I guess, it's a way the messenger bag should be. If you planning to carry light, more that 1 extra lens, plus other accessories then you should get the larger one.

To me, it's actually a bit smaller than it seems in the demo video. For some reason it just looks really big in there. Maybe they used the Large version. But for me that's a good thing. watching the video, I was afraid it was going to be too big for my liking.
