First, I love the color. It's not a Dayglo orange, but a very nice subdued brownish orange. It's perfect for casual travel, seminars, daily use.
Second, I love the way it fits me. I lengthen the straps to about hip level and it sits there comfortably... no swinging or bumping. I carry it cross-chest and it stays put. The big, comfortable padded strap is easy on my shoulder and neck.
Third, I love the insert. I now have three. I use one in each or my Domke camera bags and one for use in this bag. I can just lift the inserts from either of the Domke bags and drop them into the Tenba, or I can use the insert I've pre-configured to hold a camera body and a couple of lenses and drop that one into the bag. With the insert in the bag, I can also carry my laptop, mouse and cord, along with my regular office organizer stuff... calendar, cards, pens, pencils, note pad, etc... and still have a fairly light and carryable bag.
Fourth, the accessibility is excellent. Without lifting the front flap, I can reach through the zippered port into the bag and pull out nearly anything, including laptop, camera and lens, Bible, paper or other stuff. I still have room for magazines and file folders, flash drives, and cell phone... and lots more.
This bag has more pockets than I've ever seen and they are amazingly accessible. It is well built, stands up on its own (no slouch and collapse like so many bags), and its bottom is waterproofed so the interior stays dry if you encounter a wet spot. The handle is handy and padded.
I am just delighted with this bag and I heartily recommend it to anyone who carries camera gear, laptop, and office items on a regular basis.
Great quality, wonderful design, sturdy construction, and good looks... a hard-to-beat package!

I first tried the small Tenba Laptop Messenger Bag first & it fit my 15" MacBook Pro fine but was tight with a Canon 5D (without battery grip); There was constant pressure against the laptop from the camera body. A smaller camera body would work fine, I believe.

I switched to the larger bag but the padded insert looks to be the same exact one that is in the smaller bag, so you don't get any additional padded internal storage for photo gear. Bag shell appears the same depth, too. So, same problem.

Other reviewers find the fit OK w/5D but with pressure against the laptop, a good bump against the bag might damage the laptop.

Without the laptop inserted, the bag would work great for me. But, I need to use it with the laptop. Item returned.

Comments about Messenger: Large Photo/Laptop Bag (Olive Green):

I purchased both the Mini and the Large Tenba Messenger. The mini for my Fuji xT1 and the Large for my 6D. Both work extremely well. They hold camera, three lenses easily including my 100-400 mk1 in the large bag and extension tubes for macro. If desired I can drop in my laptop 11" in the Mini or 15" in the large with no problem. With all this gear the strap is comfortable and carrying is burden free.

I really enjoy being able to just grab my bag and go anytime I want and know I have everything I need for almost all situations. The zipper on top providing direct access to the camera is invaluable - I had issues with other bags I had to take off my shoulder and open the whole bag just to try to get one shot. With the Tenba it is grab and go.

Comments about Messenger: Large Photo/Laptop Bag (Olive Green):

A Large bag holds my 6D with 24-105, + 70-200, + 100-400, and my 100 mm Macro along with my 15' Lap Top. I am prepared for most any shooting scenario I may run into.

It is a bit heavy but then that is a lot of equipment. It is great for keeping all my essential tools together and easy to carry. I would not recommend for all-day walking around, but it is great to keep organized and carry to and fro.

I keep camera straps for when I want to walk around like at the zoo or a hike. I only carry the camera and the most likely useful lens for those circumstances.

I bought this bag to take on my upcoming trip to London and Paris. I wanted a bag that I could carry comfortably all day with one camera and two (mayeb three) lenses and a flash. The Tenba is the perfect size for this and is constracted of quality materials. I particularly like the wide and well-padded shoulder strap.

Comments about Messenger: Large Photo/Laptop Bag (Olive Green):

I bought this bag at a sale price of $, and I believe it is the best I could buy for that amount. I believe it sells for $.It looks beautiful, people made nice comments. It is not boxy. It looks somehow like an hybrid between a camera bag and some messenger style bag. It is very roomy. I can fit a DSLR, large normal 2.8 zoom, a small 70-210 zoom, flash, cable, cleaning kit (in the space on the side between the proper camera compartment and the bag itself), another wide angle and some wireless flash controllers. There is a pocket on the hip side for magazines or stuff like sheets, notepads, passport, And there is a compartment in the front where i can put portable hard drives, Macbook charger and some other stuff. Plenty of room also for bounce cards, memory cards. There is a not readily flap that can cover the camera compartment and some thin stuff can be put there.the 2 pockets in the front are zippered and can be useful for stuff like lens caps, filters, spare battery, memory card, metro card, train ticket etc. they are not big but yet useful. The back side of the bag as some nice backpack style mesh, and the zippers seem good quality. The camera and lenses can be accessed by opening a top side zipper rather than just opening the 2 buckles. It is a great idea and allows to change or stow away lenses without putting the bag on the ground or on a table. The top zipper is also protected by a flap. What I did not like:- The well cushioned strap is definitely too long. I am 6ft tall, long torso and the bag stays well below the hip even when the strap is shortened all the way. This makes it really hard to wear the bag while riding a road bicycle, even if it is non slip fabric the bag may slip during a curve or if on a bumpy road. I want to write to Tenba and ask them if they could provide a shorter strap.- the flap that closes the bag should be wider as there is a little gap on the sides where water may enter in extremely rainy conditions. it comes with no rain cover, but a wider flap and a piece of velcro could have made the bag more rain proof. - if it was a bit more expandable I could also added a book.In conclusion, it is a great bag, looks great, it can store a lot of stuff, and there are MOLLE stile straps on the side that allow to attach pouches (although I wish it could have featured one or 2 mesh pockets). It also feels strong and resistant, great stitching and zippers. I wish it had a shorter strap and would be more sealed on the sides in case of rainIf the bag is full, including computer and extras, after some hours the bag feels heavy, even with the great padding of the strap. That is not the bag fault. I am also shopping for a backpack for when I have to carry my gear on a bicycle or I have to walk a lot. Most backpacks do not allow easy and fast access to the camera, flash and lenses as this bag. So like in most aspects of life there is a trade off. Probably without the computer, hard drives, charger it would not feel too heavy for a day shoot. But I dream that Tenba could update this bag with 4 buckles and clip on straps on the back and to make it convertible into a backpack for when someone has to hike and does not need immediate access to the content of the bag. That would be the best of both worlds.

I looked at all the leading brands at price points up to $200 and the Tenba by far had the best quality and features for the price. Added bonus, it comes in many different colors to fit any personality/style, something the other brands can't compete on.

In action, it's comfortable across my 6' frame and broad shoulders and holds my kit (Canon T5i, both kit lenses, two primes, Rode Videomic, 13" Macbook Pro and all the extras I need and want to carry). I can access the camera in shooting position easily with the top zipper while all the contents stay safe and secure. #TeamTenba!

Comments about Messenger: Large Photo/Laptop Bag (Olive Green):

Disclaimer: I bought this bag primarily as a 'large laptop' carrier, having had tremendous difficulty finding a quality bag for a (very) large laptop.

I.e. - I'm not a pro, semi-pro, or even hobbyist photographer, to which this bag obviously caters.

Nevertheless, it's still a bag for carrying stuff.

And it did advertise a dedicated (padded) section for carrying a laptop and even gave precise dimensions.

Sadly, those dimensions seem to have been stated a bit optimistically, since my laptop *should* have fit and it does not. That's *hugely* disappointing. I would not have bought the bag if the stated dimensions were true to the actual physical dimensions.

On a more general note, the bag seems very inclined to tip over onto its face when placed upon a flat surface, despite the width of the bottom and even with items occupying the bottom of the bag (i.e. even with no laptop, let alone only a laptop, which would excuse the behavior somewhat).

Also, there is no gusset for the pocket on the outside front face of the bag (not the flap pocket) and thus when it contains items, it imposes itself upon the interior space of the bag, significantly reducing the usefulness of the main section. I.e. both the pocket and the section compete for space, making them somewhat mutually exclusive, especially if you intend to use the padded dividing insert.

As mentioned by others, it seems like the size/shape of the flap isn't quite adequate to protect the interior space from the elements (rain, etc..). A more generous covering of the left/right edges would inspire more confidence.

The construction quality is otherwise outstanding, and if whatever you're wanting to put into the bag doesn't expose the aforementioned design handicaps, then you've got yourself a great bag.

Seems to be well thought out. Couple of things I'm not crazy about: i) the open pockets on the front of the bag underneath the flap. Might just be my personal paranoia, but I'm always afraid something is going to fall out of them; ii) the strap -- can't stand it! The padding is very bulky and doesn't seem to help much. It seems to be designed more for wearing the bag 'cross body' style. If you just sling it over one shoulder, it tends to want to slide off. I ordered the black 'low profile' strap, so hopefully it will work better than the provided strap. Other than those two 'niggles', I really like the bag. I bought it for my personal Leica Monochrom kit, and it holds the camera with lens attached, plus 4 extra lenses (using those Leica lens connectors that allows you to stack two lenses together) and my Fuji X100T. My Rocket blower is a bit tricky to store, but other than that the bag holds quite a bit. I particularly like the top zipper that allows you to quickly access the inside of the bag.

I'm using this as a second camera bag and it easily holds my 60D, 70-300 zoom and flash. It is well constructed as is normal for Tenba. There are a couple of things I don't like, however...The top flap needs bigger "ears" to cover the sides of the bag at the top when it's all closed up. Don't trust this bag in the rain! The other is the photo insert. It's too small for the bag. I also wish there could be a way to fasten the insert itself to the bag as when pulling out my camera body, I have to hold the insert down so it doesn't pull up with the camera. The bag does have many pockets, some are useful, some aren't.

This is a spacious and well constructed bag. It easily holds my Nikon D4s and d810, each with a long lens attached, as well as three other lenses. A flash unit, memory cards, spare batteries and my laptop are also comfortably inside. The bag is well padded and comes with an array of dividers for individual set-ups. It is also lightweight and fairly priced.

Comments about Messenger: Large Photo/Laptop Bag (Chocolate):

I bought this to replace a Tenba bag that I have that's wearing out. Unfortunately, it's not as good. The construction is top notch, it's generally well thought out. With one exception, the stupid insert. It takes a nice size bag and chops a bunch of room out of it. I know, you can pull it out and stick other stuff in it. I don't do that, I buy a camera bag to hold cameras.

I do like that it's not black. The material is very resilient. I don't know how well it will stand up to rain though. That's another fault with the bag the ends are open water can get in in. You can tuck stuff in to keep some of it out, but I wouldn't trust it to keep my gear dry in a heavy rain.

Lots of pockets, but most of them aren't all that useful.

Comments about Messenger: Large Photo/Laptop Bag (Black):

My main objective with this bag is to no longer be the guy that without saying a word screams "Photographer!" It carries a 70-200, 24-70, my camera body with any mounted lens I own, a large flashgun, filters, memory cards, color checker, light meter, flash battery pack, extra batteries, and a tablet. The shoulder strap is quite comfortable, and access to my gear from the top is just as easy if not easier to access than my old slingshot bag. The only gripe is that it doesn't carry one extra lens I'd like, a macro, a small sacrifice for being a little less obvious. The removable camera insert is nice, and the padded back that rests against your body is handy if you're carrying any amount of gear. My only critique is anyone with a healthy amount of gear may have a hard time adding the max size laptop, akin to jamming yourself into a pair of pants that are a touch small. They could afford to add a half inch to the width and depth to accommodate a larger laptop. I hate spending over $ for a bag, but it really is worth the investment.

My friend used this large bag to secure and carry his camera, lights and assorted attachments on assignments requiring air or land travel. Now, I have one too! My laptop, 3 iPads, headphones, DSLR, mini-shotgun mic, assorted mounts/clamps, digital cards, cables, batteries and chargers fit inside padded cells perfectly. I also add another DSLR, when needed, or a couple of GoPros. Under the flap, a MeFoto monopod may be tucked in for transport.

                                                Pros:
                                                1. good looking bag that does not scream "photo gear inside!"
                                                2. top zipper allows quick access to your gear while the bag is on your shoulder
                                                3. easily converts to an ordinary messenger bag
                                                4. solid construction
                                                5. holds your camera with a zoom attached with room for a few more lenses
                                                Cons:
                                                1. shoulder strap is too long unless you are over 6' tall
                                                2. although there are plenty of pockets, there is little room after loading your body and lenses for bulky items like camera batteries- the pockets are better suited for thin items like a cell phone, wallet, memory cards, or paperwork
                                                3. the bag is a bit narrow so if your camera body has a tripod plate or battery grip attached it makes for a tight fit
                                                4. adjustable dividers are too large to organize smaller items like prime lenses
                                                5. seems to hold just a little less gear than advertised

Overall I like the Tenba Messenger with just a few reservations.

Comments about Messenger: Large Photo/Laptop Bag (Burnt Orange):

This bag now carries all of my photo gear. I got the orange so it would be easy to spot if lost/stolen. It's very well made and comfortable to wear. I thought it would be heavy with my camera, four lenses, flash, etc., but that is not so.
