The Meade Green Laser Pointer makes easy work of identifying objects in the night sky for a group of observers.
Teach others about the night sky and actually point to constellations and planets; the 5-milliwatt laser pointer shines a well defined and distinct green beam of light to pinpoint stars, planets, and other objects overhead. In a truly dark sky, with everyone's eyes well adapted to the black of night, you'll see the beam for over 4 miles overhead!

A good strong green laser pointer. I do mostly amatuer astronomy and astrophotography and I like having both a pointer and small red flashlight on a lanyard around my neck hanging. It's rather heavy and large/bulky I found and can tire the neck if you do long astronomy sessions and wear it all the time, works better in the ol pocket.
Good if it's cold and you wear gloves though as it's easy to use and hold onto with gloves on.
Nice haveing it powered by plain ol alkaline batterries also.

It definitely does its job when it's nice and dark, however, I would like to compare this with a cheaper model green laser because I think it might not be any better. I spent the extra money thinking I would get a beam that showed well in city light situations (or even in a dark home), but this is not the case. Its construction is really no better than a $13 blue laser that I have. The green laser is much more visible than blue or red, but I didn't get a strong visible beam until I was away from any significant lighting. I couldn't discern an obvious quality distinction that warrants paying more than $25.

Comments about Meade Green Laser Pointer:
I like the feel of this laser pointer. It feels solid and heavy, unlike cheap pointers. However, the internal construction is no better than directly imported 5mW green laser pointers that cost a third as much. The batteries shake around because they don't fit snugly, and sometimes I have to give it a good thwack on my other palm to get it to turn on. I don't have any trouble like that with my el cheapo pointers. Also, instead of just fading in the cold like most green lasers, it shuts down entirely. If you want to use it outside in the winter to point at the sky, you'll need to use a heater or keep it warm.
Unless you really want something that feels solid, I wouldn't recommend spending the extra money on this.

I purchased this product to use during astrophotography sessions but also found it fun to use with light writing photography. The beam is enough so that I and others standing near me can see it. It is not going to produce a light saber effect as you have to view it at a certain angle. Nice construction, excellent grip, nice case.

I HAVE HAD SEVERAL GREEN LASER POINTERS THE PAST FEW YEARS. THIS ONE IS PROBABLY MY FAVORITE. THE BEAM SHOWS UP BETTER THAN MY OTHER ONES DURING DAYLIGHT SITUATIONS. IT SEEMS TO BE BUILT STURDIER THAN THE OTHER ONES. IT COMES IN A NICE PRESENTATION CASE. OVERALL A GOOD BUY.

I purchased this pointer to use during an astronomy camp with children. It allowed us to "touch" the stars and provided an impressive beam about two hours after the sun had set. I met every one of my expectations.

This is a fine pointer. Clear, easy to use and setup, and comes in a nicely designed case. I wish it were a little bit thinner (or rather, that there were a smaller AAAA-battery pointer like it), but it works great so far. Recommend it for anyone having to give presentations in a large lecture room.

Comments about Meade Green Laser Pointer:
I am using the laser to write onto red-light safe photo materials (like lith film and b+w paper). I am having quite an enjoyable experience.
Things that are great, the button to turn it on is very sensitive and you don't need to apply much pressure.
Things that could be better, if you could force the light to stay on and if the battery access were easier. The battery access isn't hidden, it's just difficult to open.
