Tripods are always a tricky buy. I'm not sure about most of you but I tend to wear mine out very very quickly. With most tripods the strength-to-weigh ration is just not up to par and after a few years or hiking/photo adventures, they tend to come apart. This tripod, however, has not disappointed. It is nice and light but at the same time is quite durable. My only concern is the smaller, more fragile plastic parts. This tripod offers many options and has all the bells and whistles but I fear that due to it's complication there is a larger possibility for something to go wrong. However, nothing has gone wrong yet, much to my surprise, and I am very very pleased with this product. The 3 way head and quick release is a must and this tripod is a very good buy for the price.

I got the tripod and found that everything works good. I like the way it tightens in the middle so that it can have a narrow stance. It seems to have all the features of a good tripod. The construction appears fine, but it is light weight, so it does not feel real durable. However I think under light use and care it will last just fine. It maybe too light to securely hold a heavy camera. I found it to be a good value.

It's an easy tripod to unfold and use. I mount my camera and photograph my artwork. It has two built in levels both of which are helpful.
I don't need anything fancy, and if you don't either, then give this one a try.

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Explorer V Tripod with 3-Way Head:

This is a nice lightweight tripod at a very good price. Leg adjustments are nice and tripod extends to a good height. I use it for flashes in a multiple remote flash set up but it would easily hold a lightweight to medium weight DSLR and lens. This probably wouldn't be the best for a big zoom lens. Head movement is OK, but it might not be smooth enough for video. Comes with a carry bag.

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Explorer V Tripod with 3-Way Head:

I purchased this tripod looking for a cheap once a year use. I didn't expect much. When I receive product and tested it out I was impressed. Tripod is sturdy and can hold my dslr. Not much wable or play. I trusted it enough that I took it with me to do some outdoor shooting over in red rock canyon right outside of Las Vegas. Even in some terrible terrain tripod managed to stay up and support my camera. I think it's a better product than the tripods I checked out[@] that were in the [$] buck range

          Cheap construction

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Explorer V Tripod with 3-Way Head:

I do not trust this tripod for any of my cameras. It came free with my camera purchase. The overall construction is cheap feeling and the plastic head and camera mount makes me very timind to use. I used it this weekend on rocky beach, very difficult to adjust to level, it is a trial and error with the legs to level since the head is limited. It a ok tripod for extreme circumstances As back up, better than nothing.

This tripod might not be fancy, but for the price it's hard to beat. It feels sturdy, yet light, and folds up conveniently. The height on it is also a plus, as it should fit any need you might have for still photography. The plastics feel a little cheap, but it works and is easy to use.

I needed a compact and lightweight tripod for portability, and the Explorer V is just right. Seems to be well contructed and fairly sturdy too.
