I bought a few of these to loan to students in my high school photography class. At this price I can afford for them to lose or break a few, but they're good enough for general purpose work with smaller SLRs and lenses (I wouldn't use this tripod with a heavy camera or lens).

Use and practice for tripod shooting, alternative to handheld in slow shutter. Retract extensions to reduce deflection, add small weight to increase stability

    Perfect for Yamaha YPAO setting

    • Folds Small

    • Lightweight
    • Unfolds Quickly

    Cons

    • Weak Construction

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Traveler Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head:

This was strictly purchased for taking Yamaha YPAO (speaker equalization settings) readings. Since I'll probably only use it about 10 to 20 times in my life, I felt no need to go overboard. It does the job admirably and has a nice tote bag for storage. It is semi-fragile. Not commercial grade and I wouldn't recommend it for photography buffs.

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Traveler Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head:

I teach Digital Photography and have a limited budget. I ordered 10 of these for my classes to use. We have been using them for 3 weeks now and already have had to return one (it was broken out of the box). Three have already had parts break.
Two had the turn knob break off completely. One, the center support broke.
DO NOT recommend. Cheap. Lightweight and easy to use, but will break easily with any average use.

This tripod is what it says it is: for traveling. It is light and therefore very vibration-prone. Should be used mostly for locked-off shots, and simple pans. Nice carrying case, very light and packable!

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Traveler Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head:

I bought this product as a tripod for a slave strobe flash. I was really un-impressed with its quality. One time, at random and unprovoked, the middle piece just fell right of. Also, the head of the tripod is always falling off. The cause of all these problems is simply poor build quality. I mean you feel like your going to break it just using it. I am too worried about it to use when dealing with any clients, thats how bad it is. I suggest that you save your money and buy a decent tripod instead of this one.

Upon opening, I had trouble getting the legs to extend at all, and then when testing the raiser for the top, the handle snapped off, and I was stuck with a mostly extended top end.

Was in the trash within 5 minutes of arrival.

it is a light weight trippod, but when i put my canon rebel on it, the neck would go down slowly, after i just raised it. the bold that tightens the legs allowing the to spread dindnt fit and the legs were free and always moving.
              overall bad quality.

The tripod is very light and flimsy, I wouldn't put a heavy camera on it, however it's great for a light pocked sized camera or, in my case, several remote flash units.

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Traveler Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head:

This is definitely not a pro tripod as you can guess from the price. It is very lightweight and portable and is well matched to a small camera. I used it with a Fuji S700 and a Canon Elph and it worked very well. It will hold my new Canon Rebel SLR, but it isn't rock stable and it is not confidence inspiring. Even though my SLR setup is only 1.5 lbs, it seems like too much. This tripod says it is rated for 4lbs, but I would say realistically to do its job, it is more like 1 pound. So basically I would recommend it as a cheapo solution for compacts, but not for any SLR. Mine is the lightest SLR setup I know of an it is too much for this thing.
