This monopod is better than no monopod at all. But only barely. With my micro-four-thirds camera and telephoto zoom (barely 3 lbs total) it flexed all over the place, causing a lot of vertical vibration when shooting. I can see it working for a small camera with a very short lens. But for any longer lens that might place a bit of torque on the camera, this monopod is just too flexible to provide good support. You're better off spending the $45-60 for a proper monopod that won't flex, unless you're using this for something very, very light like a compact camera where the lens adds essentially no weight.

Oh, and whatever the monopod and its case are made out of offgasses like crazy and smells horrific, as other reviewers have noted. I would be very reluctant to pack this in a suitcase with my clothes.

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Trailblazer Monopod:

I do everythihng from Urban Exploring, street, and wildlife/landscape photography. I have had this in water waist deep, slimy stormdrains, rocky paths, and it has yet to fail me. I use either a Nicon N90, or D100 on it, and they work fine.
THe only issue I have had, is that you have to hold it steady, as being a mono-pod, it does easily tilt or move if you are not careful. But that would be true with any Mono-pod.

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Trailblazer Monopod:

I hike a lot with a Nikon D3200 & 55-300mm Lens. I made a 3/4 ball for the bottom of my camera and a socket I screw on to the monopod. When I see a photo. op. I set the camera on the monopod and snap the photo. The monopod is light & adjustable so I can adjust it for when I seat and take a brake from hiking. Have used it for two weeks and have no cons for it at this point.

My first impressions out of the box on this monopod are really good. It has a comfortable feel, it is light weight, and fairly compact. The height is sufficient for a standing 6' person. Seems to be great value. Time will tell.

Used it to film my daughters violin recital. Had to hold it between my legs to not bother the people around me. I was able to hold the camera steady while using all of the zoom functions. The quality of this video came out much better than the last one. Made me look like the professional that I am not. And it is well made, but cheap like me.

This works perfect, very soft handle, and the leg sections are easy to extend and collapse. Very pleased, and the bag that comes with it is handy, but the zipper is not smooth, but no biggie.

No complaints so far. Works great! I use this monopod with my GoPro Hero 2 to get some unique shots without being limited to a stationary pole like the GoPole. I plan to use it with DSLR in the future. Surely there are better built and more expensive monopods out there. For the price of this guy it can't be beat. Lightweight, comes with a case, retractable spike.

Haven't used it much but nothing bad to say so far. Very lightweight and seems to be built very well. Comes with a case and the retractable spike is nice and easy to use. I currently use it with my GoPro Hero2 to get some unique shots without being limited to a GoPole or like device. Plan to use it with a DSLR in the future. I'm sure there are more expensive and better built monopod's but if this one handles the weight of your toy...I recommend it!!!

Several tripods over the yrs but this is my first monopod...VERY happy with it! Sure makes you question spending so much more for little in return, unless you've money to burn or think "nothing but the best will do"....I'm 6' 2", and this monopod easily surpasses my height needs w/hiking shoes on. It is light yet appears well-built with positive locking clamps, and find the weight limit very conservative. It can double as a mild walking stick, though around 20-30 lbs the lower clamp on mine slips a little in cooler dry conditions like indoors. The adjustable spike to rubber foot works well & is a nice touch, along w/the carry strap(don't think this is mentioned in listing). I use this to attach it to my Op/Tech double-sling strap. The carrying case does have a slight petro smell(IF you like sniffing your eqpmt!), otherwise odor complaints are MUTE & really crack me up! It's not made of an inert, natural material people. Only downside is I don't think a ball head can be fitted(someone correct my if I'm wrong), but figured that going in.Not familar w/the brand(says Tiffen on the package), but would certainly buy from them again. Serves it's purpose perfectly and is a great value. Highly recommended! Carefully packed & free shipping too - great job B & H!

I love this rock solid support for quick pick up and shoot situations when a tripod is too cumbersome. Since I'm 6'6" tall, the best part is it's actually tall enough!!

I do UE, outdoor, and street photography, a long with a few other types. I have used this in UE and Outdoor shoots, and it is excellent, even on unstable or slippery conditions. I used this to shoot some wild male geese using a 500mm lens during a territory dispute and pulled some fantastic and stable shots with it.

Comments about Vista by Davis & Sanford Trailblazer Monopod:

I do property inspections for insurance companies and needed a stable platform for zoomed in photos of roof conditions, etc. taken with a digital camera. This monopod really does the trick to eliminate blurred photos and is easy and fast to extend and use. Don't believe the wimps complaining about the smell of the handle and carrying case. The handle never did smell and the slight smell of the carrying case went away after a couple of days (I didn't care if it ever did, the smell didn't bother me).
