Comments about Giottos QU 305B U-Pod Mini Tripod:

Using it to support both a camera and a microscope head (iridology application) I find it rugged, well made and easy to adjust. Adjustable friction to allow the legs to remain stable when not fully outspread is helpful when trying to gain that extra inch of height.

Comments about Giottos QU 305B U-Pod Mini Tripod:

I work for a camera company, we were looking for a tabletop unit that could hold up to the rigor of using in our trade shows. This unit is sturdy enough to meet our demands, plus the extra height is great for making sure the product is seen and not lost in tabletop clutter

Comments about Giottos QU 305B U-Pod Mini Tripod:

Mounted a nikon D700 with nikon 24-70mm lens--tripod was on a flat surface and I used the timer to take Christmas photos- pictures came out great. I probably will try a 70-200 lens just to see if it can handle the weight but that may be asking too much of this sturdy little guy. It is very solid and I like the fact that it has a removable extension. Comes with a cloth bag for storage and will fit into most camera bags. I used a manfrotto head on it( 234rc) which allowed me to to use the quick release system I already have. For the price, this is a great tabletop tripod, and as usual, B & H provided their normal great service. I have used B & H for years and I have yet to receive anything less than superior service. Thanks B & H

Comments about Giottos QU 305B U-Pod Mini Tripod:

Giottos table top tripod is well made, holds my D90 and 70-300 zoom lens and of course smaller lens, a very stable platform. I have paired it with a Manfrotto 482 ball head which I have. Giottos has compatible ball heads as noted on their website. The product I received is all black.

An excellent table top tripod for the money. When I first took it out of the box I noticed the sturdy feel. So far it has not faultered with any of my camera's. It even supports my DSLR with the 18-55 lense attached. All points adjustable.

Comments about Giottos QU 305B U-Pod Mini Tripod:

I ordered this tripod because I wanted something light to travel with. The tripod itself is very light and was easy to pack in my backpack. It's very study and held up my camera (Nikon D7000) with a lens that was about 1lb. Only bad thing is my ballhead from my larger/heavier tripod did not fit so there was no way to adjust the camera. Still, it was much easier to carry on a hike than my big tripod.

Comments about Giottos QU 305B U-Pod Mini Tripod:

When traveling, I tend to carry my DSLR in a neoprene skin in my purse. I like to travel light, so I needed a very lightweight (but sturdy and adaptable) tripod. After much research, I decided on the QU 305B and haven't looked back. It's impressively sturdy and folds up very small. I didn't purchase a tripod head, but simply attach the tripod directly to my camera (not a big deal for me since I usually don't need to remove the camera quickly).

Combined with a Manfrotto 3262QR Ball Head this makes a wonderful travel tripod. The combination will most confidently hold a large dSLR w/ telephoto lens, measures no more than 13" and can be used as either a tri or mono pod. I reviewed many options but believe this to be the most stable and sturdy for the equipment to be used - I am most pleased with the combination.

Comments about Giottos QU 305B U-Pod Mini Tripod:

This tripod becomes more versatile the more I use it. I bought it to place on desktops or countertops conveniently. The legs are strong (anyone who has owned a Giottos will know the grade of the build quality) and the neck and mount are solid. You can fold inward the legs and grip it to add some addition height when holding a camera above your head. I recently took it out, mounted a camera (about 1.5 lbs) and placed it on a ledge on a bridge. The winds were fairly strong and the tripod had minimal shake. So sturdy for such a little pod. I you think it's a little expensive for such a small device, don't think twice making it one of your choices to purchase. Its versatility will impress you.

I have had many table top tripod: manfrotto legs, leica, etc. This one is a keeper. It is low enough for macro work and even extends high enough where I take it with me everywhere.

Very light, compact, and easy to carry--Great for small flowers close to the ground. Need to be sure and have a leg directly under the lens or it will fall over. If plan to use it with a good ball head be sure and get a reducer bushing because the little tripod only has a 1/4" thread and you will probably need a 3/8" for your ball head.

I use this tripod on my travels with a small camera and it fits most of my needs. Only limitation is the small size, but this is also its advantage, of course. Use it with a ball-head and believe a gorillapod is a good companion, for the uneven surfaces.

Comments about Giottos QU 305B U-Pod Mini Tripod:

After widely researcing sturdy tabletop tripods, I decided upon this baby. Wow ... did it exceed my expectations! Incredibly well engineered (as are the other Giottos products I own) and useful in many ways. It easily supports my D300 w/ 70-300 Nikkor zoom lens or 105 micro-Nikkor (even w/ extension tubes) with the long center column at lowest position. Unscrew the short column, then mount it in the base and you have a near ground or tabletop level camera.

Rather than go with the recommended Giottos ballhead, I mounted a Manfrotto 234 Tilt-Swivel Head on it, then screwed on the removable Arca clamp from my Markins tripod ballhead. Viola ... this combo gives me tremendous flexibility and quick camera mounting capability (either landscape or portrait), since I have an RRS L-bracket permanently affixed to my D300.

Can also be used for mounting remote flash units and a number of other purposes. Outstanding value for the price!

Comments about Giottos QU 305B U-Pod Mini Tripod:

Compact in stature, sturdy in build, this mini tripod fits in most medium sized camera bags and once positioned, provides a very stable platform. Common sense must prevail, however, as the maximum rated load capacity of 11 pounds, while fine at lowest position without the extension, would not be, perched at full height. Excellent for indoor detail work but not so great for uneven outdoor conditions.
