Comments about Tascam CD-VT2 - CD Music and Voice Trainer:

I have used a "slow downer" for learning fiddle tunes and transcribing various 78 recordings for years, and that was a whole lot better than sitting with my old tape recorder hitting play and rewind over and over till I got it.

But I was always tied to my computer table, smashing buttons and with the headphones plugged in awkwardly in the back. It was ok, sure, and slowing down without pitch loss is great. But this little tascam doohicky is great. All the ease and portability of my old tape recorder, with all of the functinality of my computer slowdowner. I can put this on my work table where all of my sheet music is spread out and go to town. It makes sense and is easy to use. I'm hooked.

Comments about Tascam CD-VT2 - CD Music and Voice Trainer:

I've been using this machine for 15 months. I teach a couple of dance classes every week, and often need to adjust the speed, so I love the ease of changing the speed without affecting the pitch and also the wide range of variability. This CD player is very small and portable, and although I usually use the power cord in class, it will also run on batteries if we should be performing someplace where power is an issue. Another neat little feature is the flashback, allowing one to jump back a few seconds. With the three year B&H warranty I feel secure in my investment. In the past I've run into the problem of finding a machine that I like only to have the model discontinued, so I just purchased a second CD-TV2 to have as a back-up.

Comments about Tascam CD-VT2 - CD Music and Voice Trainer:

I use this mainly for slowing Irish and Texas fiddle music down, and it is essential for learning this kind of music if you don't have someone in front of you slowing things down. For this purpose it is SUPER at this price. In the 1990s the only available such equipment cost a great deal more and had worse quality--but I bought it.

Comments about Tascam CD-VT2 - CD Music and Voice Trainer:

I've been using these machines for 9 years now. I use them all day long to slow down recordings, loop, and change keys. The older model would last about a year but this newer model (probably about 4 years old can last me a couple of years). It is a great rehearsal and teaching devise that makes my life a lot easier. I teach in two schools and have one in each. Velcro it down to what ever it sits on so a kid doesn't knock it down by mistake. I also have the mp3 version but like the cd version better. It's well worth the investment and at the B & H price you can't beat it.

Comments about Tascam CD-VT2 - CD Music and Voice Trainer:

I purchased this CD trainer for use with our church choir and band. Its wide range of features offer a massive amount of real-world, on-the-go usability. The pitch and tempo control are easy to use, and the "Flash Back" button is perfect for anyone trying to listen critically to one small section.
The only concern - this is a trainer. Adjusting pitch(or key), tempo, or vocal content (using the vocal eraser) all greatly affect sound quality. While those features are fantastic training tools, they are probably not usable for performances.
