Thanks Numark for not letting me down with this turntable. Being a Pro DJ since 1989, and having the original numark CD5020 dualCD (still in my office),,,, why did i have any doubts about NUMARK?
The Numark TTXUSB is just the way i imagined, "strong and powerful" with a hefty 30 lbs holding back any needle feedback. The platter is solid,,,,,, no wobble and tilt with back cueing scratching. A fwd/rev toggel button launches the adjustable start up & stop on a dime.
The brake platter is adjustable for those vinyl effects, that today's djs create with sound files.
I get a smile! when i can recall, and recreate, those vinyl only efxs and drops. Spinning the beats with this turntable.
Now i ve worked live shows and at da studio with the grandmasters mkII from technics. (i think they might be stopping production those,,, not for sure) ... I didn't notice any direct-drive issues or shortfalls. The USB port and line out is limited in space and the power cord runs directly over the output jacks. i didnt like the cord covering and being uncomfortably close together. minor issue.
Go out and get the SL1200 for double the money. you will have the classic club wheel of steel to brag and show off. The MKII price will only go up with manufacturing ending.
Sad... but even elvis, the beatles, studio 54, the clash, and vanilla ice all ended the show one day.
The money spent on the Numark ttxusb will be a great investment. Plus more bang with the extra features,,,, the BPM counter and night cool blue colors are easy in the night lite. The key lock only works on the line out, not USB. and the USB only works with Itunes? hmmm... i havn't had the turntable long enough to search for other options besides Itunes. My roxio has more features but its still lower end recording software. i think the ez vinyl softwear offers an up grade for $.
Any way... the usb will rip a track off your LP collection. just load the disc, and power up. that's what i got the turntable for..... so i can start digitalizing my 4000 plus vinyl LPs, and 12inchers, and 7 inchs disc. Yes i will be spinning for 10 years to get all of my records on mp3 files and then everyone else will be using some other form of music files and sounds. But this ole DJ from the era of only vinyl records will have a fine time spinning on the NUMARKTTXUSB.

Great bang for your buck, This turntable has a lot of torque power, the necessary for DJ scratching, etc. The mat facilitates moving the vinyl back and forth (not a rubber mat), This is a direct drive turntable.

The quality of the parts is great, except for the arm, counter-weight and anti-skate dial, It is not accurate but a good stylus weight gauge and a grooveless vinyl would do the job.

The USB output is a great feature, it outputs audio at 44,100 Hz sampling rate and 16 bit depth, Some songs I have recorded range from 900 to 929 kbps (40 MB per song on average).

The gain knob helps boost the signal as desired and the software is very simple to use, specially on a mac.

If you want the lossless recording, then before recording, set iTunes' import settings to Apple Lossless, you'll get an m4a audio file of max quality.

The 4 legs you can turn to balance it, very nice feature.

It has phono/line switch. This means, if you plan on connecting this turntable to a recent receiver, then switch it to line, it will output the signal already pre-amped at about 7-8 volts. If you have an old pre-amp/receiver, the phono line should be the right setting. This switch saves you a phono stage device (on line setting).

Fantastic high end turntable. POWERFUL. Well priced, this should be a serious consideration for a turntable addition.

The usb / link option to record the old vinyl is easy and great to use.

Can't recommend these enough for a Pro DJ or someone just looking to have a quality TT in their home.

Comments about Numark TTXUSB - Ultra High-Torque Professional Turntable:

After DJ'ing for many years (@ 19yrs), I have used many different pieces of equipment. I recently decided to move from my Pioneer CDJ 400 controllers to vinyl. I have never been a scratch DJ but my purchase of the CDJ 400's sparked my interest. I started to look at the monster of all DJ turntables, Technics. Being that some models have gone out of production, some of the prices are out of my range. I saw a youtube video that showed a DJ using the NUMARK TTXUSB turntables and he looked very comfortable with them. I started to research and I must say that I did not find many bad reviews on this particular turntable. After reading on other brands, I decided to go ahead and purchase two of these turntables. The units arrived 1 day early; BRAVO B&H PHOTO!!!!! My first observation, these things are heavy! I couldn't wait to open the box and check the contents. After a couple layers of boxes there they were. Easy setup... FAST FORWARD ----> The units are connected to my mixer and to my laptop. After setting up the needles and the torque, I was mixing in a matter of an hour and a half. Like I said, I am just now trying my hand(s) out at scratching but I must say, I like the feel of the vinyl. I've had the units for a week and have used them for at least an hour a day give or take. Currently, I am extremely happy with these! I cannot wait to work my first gig with them! At this point, with this price, I say buy these if you are looking for TT's!!!

Comments about Numark TTXUSB - Ultra High-Torque Professional Turntable:

I've used numark equipment since I began DJing. I started with the TT200s, now I've upgraded to the TTXUSBs. They are a super heavy duty turntable. They also feature more extras than any other deck. If you mix, they have bpm counters and variable speeds for the pitch. If you scratch, they can be set up "battle style" and feature adjustable torque seetings. You can change the tone arm between an "S" or a "straight" setup. And now they've added a neat extra for all those vinyl collectors, you can plug the TTX into your computer and transfer your records to digital files. Oh, and did I mention, they have adjustable start/stop speeds, and a big blue display? Now, on the other hand, they are tanks, you can drop your membership to the gym after a couple gigs. These are thee heaviest turntables I've ever picked up. Now to me, my only concern is that with all of these extra features, that's more that could go wrong. There has always been this issue that Tech's are the industry standard. I challenge anyone to give these a try and see if its about time to step up.

Got a set of these a couple weeks ago so I can start tying my hand at scratch DJing and so far they've been great. The adjustable torque settings really coming in handy and I noticed that the LED display will show changes made to BPM settings made in Traktor so they do a good job of actually keeping track of that. I hear the Stanton STR8-150s are built like tanks but for an extra $150 per TT, if you need to save a little bit more money these definitely will fill the bill.

I don't know if this is an issue for these or all new TTs but they don't have grounding wires, which I thought was strange.

Comments about Numark TTXUSB - Ultra High-Torque Professional Turntable:

I mostly use this for sampling but they are also great for scratching and mixing specially for the price.

Ill list a few features that arent very common on other turntables:
A great feature is the adjustable torque which you wont see on 1200's. The tonearms are easily interchangeable. Also for sampling you have a BPM meter which is also not standard on 1200's. They are very heavy which is always a good thing.

I guess the only thing that's not so great is that there's no cartridge and needle that comes with them so unless you have some don't make the mistake of thinking you can use them right out the box.

Overall considering they are in the same price range as the legendary 1200's I think you can get the same and some fun extras so I definitely recommend.

I purchased this table primarily to archive 78's as my reference table for high end playback accepts 33 and 45 only. This Numark proved, thus far, to be most adequate for transcribing my and others 78's and some 45's. With some real time minimal processing the outcome was most satisfactory with this Numark TTX USB....Only criticism is the lack of a ground wire...Otherwise, thus far, fine performance..

Bought this for my son to replace his old TTX. First of all, I have to say that dealing with B&H online was an easy, no-hassle experience. Pricing was great[...]My son was ecstatic to get the unit; he was excited to open it and show me the various controls and features. The unit is VERY hefty and appears to be solidly constructed, with logical controls that feel very high-quality. A few days later I asked how he liked it and he still was ecstatic. He's back to where he needs to be with his gear for gigging and couldn't be happier.

this turntable usb is a great and simple way to transfer your vinyl to mp3. especially if you are a straight mp3 dj using the numark v7s .a lot of the good breaks are still on vinyl so this is a great tool to use to get all of the good breaks off vinyl into your serato itch files or crates.

Comments about Numark TTXUSB - Ultra High-Torque Professional Turntable:

This is the second TTXUSB that I have bought. I started using my brothers TT500s, and decided I wanted my own. Numark no longer makes the 500s though, so I bought TTXUSBs, and I am very pleased with them.

The build quality is great, very sturdy and heavy, which is important for a turntable. It has a nice set of features, while still being very easy to understand and use. The display, apart from looking cool (blue lights!) is nice to have, displaying the % pitch as well as having a bpm counter, if you need such a thing. I also really enjoy having interchangeable tonearms (s shaped and straight arm). I use the s shaped arm for playing vinyls and the straight when I want to scratch. I also enjoy the two start/stop buttons, which allow different turn table positioning, either standard of battle position. I prefer battle position, because the tonearm is more out of the way of my hands, as well as making my set up more compact (not so wide). Either way the tables are easy to use and beginner friendly, without sacrificing high end capability. One more nice feature is the keylock, which will keep the pitch the same when changing the pitch slider, meaning that the speed increases without changing the key of the song. All you have to do is flick the switch on the bottom of the table from phono to line, and press the keylock button on the top near the display. Easy and effective.

The sound quality is great as well. My vinyls sound very crisp and clear. I use Numark cc-1 cartridges, which are not too pricey, and are ideal for both mixing and scratching. If you don't ever scratch you can get cs-1 from Numark, or any other cartridge you like (I have also used Shure 44-g cartridges on these tables, although I like the sound of the Numark cartridges better). Of course the quality of the sound also depends on what mixer (or preamp or whatever you use) they are being amplified by. I put my TTXUSBs through an Ecler Nuo3.0, which is a very nice mixer for the price (about $600), without tons of features, but great sound and all the features that I actually really want. Previously I was using an American Audio qd5 mk2, which is a nice scratch mixer with good sound for only about $150, if you are looking for something cheaper.

Apart from the build and the sound quality, there is not much to comment on the tables besides perhaps aesthetic issues. I really like the blue lights, especially compared to the red and green lights on the tt500s. The power button lights up blue, as well as the round display screen.

I think any review is not complete without at least some (perhaps very minor) cons. Two things come to mind with the TTXUSB, although neither of them bother me or negatively affect my mixing or recordings. The first is that the software that comes with the table, used for recording vinyls with the usb cable, automatically records the vinyl to a 192kbps mp3 (on a pc). This is high quality enough for personal listening, but ideally the recordings would be at least 320kbps or even better wav format. The instructions say that on a mac it records to the default format set in itunes, which means one could record to a wav on a mac. This is not a big deal, because when I record vinyls I just use the phono cables, run it through my mixer and into my computer, and record with audacity (which is a great, free, piece of software). Apart from the fact that on pc it can only record to 192 kbps using the supplied software, the usb seems to work quite well and easily. When you plug it in, your computer recognizes it as an external sound card, and appears along with any other sound cards in your audio settings for both windows and other software.
The second possible con is the the bpm counter does not go above 150bpm or so. This is almost never a problem unless you mix uk hardcore or drum n bass(which I do, it is usually 168-175bpm). For this faster music, the counter often displays about half of the actual bpm. I do not mind though, because I don't like the use the counter anyway, although it would be nice for someone who is just starting to learn how to mix.

All in all, a superb turntable, which I would recommend to anyone who is serious about having a nice DJ setup to play vinyls, or for a digital vinyl system like traktor or serrato. One could also buy a TTXUSB to play any sort of record, and to make digital copies of old records, although I assume there are cheaper options without the DJ oriented features, made more for home use.
