Comments about Glidecam Vista II Pan/Tilt Head:

It is generally a nice pan/tilt head. The motors are loud at higher speed, but I found that at the speed I like to use it, the noise is not an issue. We use a Sony EX3 and it doesn't quite fit right. The camera has to be angled a little left of center in the mounting plate due to the camera's hand grip. The tilt is also limited due to the viewfinder hitting the side of the yoke of the Vista Head II.

Comments about Glidecam Vista II Pan/Tilt Head:

For the money it is basically a good deal. Its closest competitor, Varizoom- with similar features, is over $3000. It sets up quick. Packs away neatly enough, you can fly with it. For the 8' to 10' range this is a good head for a jib.

The down sides are the motors are much noisier than expected and the head can tend to bounce when a heavier camera (15-25 lbs.) is mounted on the head- though it is supposed to be rated to 30lbs.

Another good feature is a super-sensitive joystick with speed controls so incremental you can literally do a time lapse using the lowest setting. Also, it can run off 12V power for remote set ups.

Comments about Glidecam Vista II Pan/Tilt Head:

We have several Glidecam units (4) and have served us well but not flawlessly.

I would recommend that the gear interface of the X & Y axis be better protected from sand and grit.

In the field we never know what we're up against and sometimes a gust of wind can blow onto a scene set i.e. (auto dealer parking lot) and with it particulate. We've had it happen and thank goodness for a can of compressed air.

Other than that we are pleased and would not own 4 units if they did not serve us well, again a very good value for the money.
