I can't find any fault with this lens when used with the Leica M8. There is virtually no drop in quality at the corners and edges of the photograph. I compared photographs made with this lens, and the equivalent product from Nikon, and right away, I decided to sell the Nikon lens. This lens balances well with the M8, and it blends rather nicely with the camera body. I'm using a 25mm Voigtlander auxiliary viewfinder with this lens, and to compensate, I just envision an extra 2mm beyond the brightline square. Doing this, I don't miss a thing. If you will be using the 18mm Distagon in a full-frame or film rangefinder, you will need to use either the 18 or 20mm auxiliary viewfinder.
Images made with this lens are incredibly detailed and lively. You do not get the feeling of looking through a piece of glass; it's as if nothing's between you and the subject. The depth of field is incredible, as to be expected at this focal length, so hyperfocal settings always produce crisp images. The lens comes with a great lens hood...vented, and it comes off only by pushing down and counterclockwise. The lens cap has great center-pinch-and outer rim release. The finish is flawless. I recommend this lens for travel, architecture, and landscapes.

I bought the lens to use on a Leica M Typ 240. I wanted the lens for landscapes and it works beautifully under some lighting conditions. But depending on the angle of the lens to the sun I was getting significant magenta vignettes. Other than that, the image quality is wonderful. I was sad about that because the price is so much better than the Leica lens price, but I just couldn't depend on the images so I have returned the lens.

Comments about Super Wide Angle 18mm f/4 Distagon T* ZM Manual Focus Lens - Silver:

I use the 18mm Distagon with my Leica M240
It is a great wide angle for:
Landscape / Seascape / Geometric forms
It is less useful for urban and street photography, as the objects (people, buildings, signs, etc.) on the sides and corners are completely distorted
Vignetting is not an issue with the M240, as the correct lens profile in Lightroom will completely remove it.
A photographer friend of mine has the same lens, on a Sony A7r and the vignetting and purple fringing is much more pronounced and the lens profile in Lightroom is not able to correct it when used on the Sony A7r
Very easy to compose with the 18mm using the EVF on the M240. As the DOF is rather large with this lens, it is easier and quicker to focus using the rangefinder than the EVF

It is really a creative lens, especially when used from a low-perspective
      You will get amazing skies.

Comments about Super Wide Angle 18mm f/4 Distagon T* ZM Manual Focus Lens - Black:

I read a great deal about this lens before purchasing, particularly about the problem with sides and corners on the M9. The solution is to manually set the lens to 21 f/2.8 11134. Depending on the subject matter, at least for outdoors, the corner issue should be eliminated. In rare situations where it does not, Cornerfix would take care of it.

Shooting indoor is not quite as recommended, as distortions can be quite visible, but that's true of almost all 18mm lenses. In terms of sharpness and colors, it's a beautiful lens.

I didn't try it on other settings or on my M6, but the hood that comes with lens does not work with the M9 at 21mm setting, it blocks parts of the shot.

I don't like very much the use of external finder and this one is not as good as this for the 21mm. The bright lines are too chick.

The quality of the construction is beautiful and the pictures are great.

For me, this lens is too big and too heavy for a rangefinder body but the effect are very interesting.
