Product Highlights
  • Zoom Super Wide Angle

The Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens is an extreme ultra-wide zoom, wide-aperture lens that delivers edge-to-corner sharpness that can surpass that of equivalent fixed focal-length lenses. It features a Nano Crystal coating to reduce the effects of ghost and flare, combined with 2 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements and PGM aspherical lenses that help control chromatic aberrations. These all combine to enhance sharpness and contrast.

The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) feature provides swift autofocus with superior accuracy and ultra-quiet operation. This G-type lens does not feature an aperture ring on the lens body, resulting in a lighter and more compact lens. Aperture changes are designed to be done via the camera's command dial.

Note:
AF-S feature is not supported by certain older camera models. Please click here for a list of compatible models.
"G" type lenses are not fully compatible with the F4, N90-series, N70, N8008-series and N6006 (or older model) cameras, only programmed auto or shutter-priority auto exposure mode can be used.

Two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements and PGM aspherical lenses control chromatic aberrations while enhancing sharpness and contrast.
Exclusive Nano Crystal Coat further reduces ghosting and flare for even greater image clarity.
Internal Focus (IF) provides fast and quiet auto focusing without changing the length of the lens, retaining subject-working distance through the focus range.
Rugged construction and professional-grade dust and moisture resistance.
M/A Focus Mode switch enables quick response to changing situations between Auto and Manual focus operation.

I had rented this lens before and was so blown away with it. After receiving it I found that is was not focusing properly on any of my cameras. Had to fine tune the AF to -20 to even get close. So I had to return it for an exchange. Waiting for the exchange to to arrive. Hopefully will get a good one this time.

Comments about Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens:

I use this lens for landscape photography. It offers a unique perspective and is very good in the right circumstances such as urban settings or night sky photography. It is great in low light and produces very sharp pictures. It is a little heavy but manageable. There are no external threads for filters, so protecting the lens with a UV filter is not an real option. There is a filter adapter but it is pretty expensive by itself.

Comments about Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens:

Purchased this to add to my other two gold ring glasses (Nikkor 24-70 and the Nikkor 70-200). I do a lot of landscape photography, and have been saving up and waiting a long time to make this addition to my gear. Before this, my 24-70 was my work horse and go to lens, however it wasn't wide enough to always capture the whole scene. My workaround was to capture a series of shots and stitch them together in photoshop. However, this does not always prove effective. I have a trip to Northern Finland coming up in just a couple of weeks, and am hoping to catch some Auroras. In this circumstance, you cannot take multiple shots and stitch them as the lights move in the sky. I'm excited to use this lens on the trip to capture as much of the sky as possible.

Bought this lens for shooting interior photography and it is amazing. Yes, it is heavier and you have to be careful with the lens because of the glass but you should always be super careful when you are spending this kind of money on a piece of equipment. So glad I purchased this. :)

Comments about Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens:

I often use this lens when I am walking around in an urban setting or along the shoreline. This lens is laser sharp, with a nice bokeh, and really nice for low light situations with the f/2.8 fixed aperature. I've recently obtained some stunning star trails (astrophotography) using this lens as well. The flanged lens shade is great to protect the protruding lens front and the lens is well constructed for easy and fast autofocusing.

I thought I finished off my wedding lens kit with 24-200 mm range of zoom lenses and a couple of fixed lenses. However, when I was hired to shoot in a situation where space was tight, I rented this lens. After shooting with it for 8 hours, I knew I had to buy it. Beautiful results and now a go to lens from my kit for just about everything.

I use the lens for perspective control for close in landscapes. It is especially useful in "big sky" shots. Recently I used it to photograph the interior of a million dollar listing for a real estate broker. Shooting 1/5 second exposures off a tripod I was able to get stunning available light shots encompassing large portions of each room with incredible depth of field. It completes the trinity of Nikon zooms; 14-24, 24-70, and 70-200 mm all at f2.8. Incredible!

Comments about Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens:

In the last year, I have photographed over 600 of South Carolina's terrific collection of historic churches and temples, mostly with a Nikon 17-35/D600 combination. After "being on the fence" for so long as to whether I should purchase a 14-24 when I already have this nice 17-35, I pressed the B&H purchase button, and I am delighted I did. I so have one regret-I wish I had had the 14-24 before starting the project.I am using the lens for both interior and exterior shots. I was in Charleston last week, retook a few with the 14-24, and was impressed by the increased area, the sharpness and crispness of the colors, and the near distortion free images. I am sure a "techie" could break it all down by the numbers (and I read some of the reports), so my soul (pun! pun!) contribution is that for my church and temple project, this is one terrific purchase. I am delighted to have this lens in my collection. I do have one suggestion-do purchase an extra lens cap. I nearly lost the original in Charleston, and the thought of walking the streets with an unprotected $. Spend the few extra bucks.

Have used this lense to shoot everything from the Aurora Borealis in Fairbanks AK in sub-zero conditions to office interiors. It is a solid performer! Tack sharp from edge to edge & beautifully soft bokheat wider aperatures. Whats not to like! Lens is solidly built. Only minor complaint is weight.

Comments about Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens:

I am impressed by image quality and lack of flare in the family of three Nikon f/2.8G ED AF zoom lenses. We are known for our back lighted outdoor group portraits and these three lenses are the best that we have ever used. They are worth every penny…but boy are they heavy.

Comments about Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens:

Recently purchased the 14-24 specifically for landscapes and interior photos. This lens is sharp as a tack. Of course, it is indeed a bit of a specialty lens so you must know how to use it properly or you will see some strange results but once you understand how to properly compose with it, you'll fall in love. Yes, it's a little heavy but it's made well and I'd rather a bit of weight to it than a super light plastic feel.

I bought this lens to pair with my Nikon 24-70 mm zoom. I shoot a lot of landscapes and architecture and found I needed just a bit more width. My older superwide and fisheye seemed either soft and/or distorted. This lens is very sharp and shows very little distortion. The lens is heavy, but all the best ones are! Very happy with the new addition

Comments about Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens:

I bought this to replace my 17-35mm and this is a huge improvement in optics and construction. This is a solid lens, images are bright and sharp to the corners, and it does a beautiful job at all zoom lengths. I use it for architectural and landscape. Only downsides are the inability to attach a standard filter to the front, due to the fisheye of the front element, and the size and weight. I use the lens on a D4 body and it is quite heavy.

Comments about Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens:

Just got this lens last week and have been using it on a number of shoots. It works beautifully. Most of the shots I have taken have been architectural and I have been able to avoid most, not all but most, of the convergence of vertical elements normally associated with super wide angle lenses. My only regret is that, due to the design of the lens, there is no ability to attach any filters, which eliminates circular polarizers and ND filters. However, the overall abilities of the lens are well worth the absence of filters. One other consideration that is not a problem for me but should be noted is the weight of the lens. It is slightly over two pounds, which doesn't sound like much but, when added to the weight of a full frame body (D-610 in my case) with the addition of an auxillary grip, makes the overall rig quite a piece of work to tote around on a serval hour shoot. All in all, I love the lens and feel it is worth every dollar spent on it.
