This battery has a very short life when you are using your camera for a wedding. I was very surprised to find myself running back and forth to the charger all night long swapping batteries. The plus side is that the battery recharges very fast. If you are in need of a battery that is going to last 1.5+ hours at a time I would recommend the BP-U60.

Comments about Sony BP-U30 Lithium-Ion Battery:
Battery works a treat, i film snowboarding and skateboarding and i generally use 2 of these a day. i like the U30's because they keep the cameras weight balanced, i like the life times of the U60's and U90's...but they tend to counter balance the camera when not on a tripod.

Using in my Sony I don't get very much mileage with this size. The larger U60 is a must.

Comments about Sony BP-U30 Lithium-Ion Battery:
This battery is the same as the one that came with my Sony PMW-EX1R. Now that I have two, I can always have one battery charging while using the other. These batteries seem to discharge over time even when not attached to the camera. Overall, I prefer this battery to the larger one since it is lighter. It lasts a good while even when using the LCD screen.

Haven't had the camera or the battery pack for long yet. I would always suggest having more than one or even two on hand. Depending on your needs.

I use it with the EX1 to shoot documentaries. It is a great backup battery and for handheld work and stuff in tight spaces. It is a ton lighter than its big brother. Great battery.

Bought it as a second battery for my EX1, one was not enough since it drains the battery like a cold coke in a hot day. Worth it for sure.
