Questions? Ask our experts:

The Stroboframe QRC is a compact, low-profile quick release that automatically docks and locks your camera or bracket to a tripod.  It is also perfect for use with studio stands and copy stands.  The entire system consists of a QR Receiver mounted to the tripod, and a QR Plate attached to the camera. (NOTE: Many Stroboframe brackets have an Integral QR Plate already built in).

The QRC system is fully compatible with all 35mm and medium format cameras.  You can use any of the Camera Anti-Twist Plates listed here as accessories to prohibit twisting of the camera upon the quick release plate, which is especially prone to happening when heavier camera/lens combinations are positioned vertically.

The unique QRC Quick-Release system has many other applications.  Use it with copy stands for faster, convenient film reloading without disturbing the setup, or for mounting spotting scopes for birding and target shooting.

Speedy Connection/Disconnection
The QRC quickly and positively connects and disconnects, with a distinctive snapping sound.  Other systems featuring vise-like devices are much slower to adjoin and separate, and do not communicate their status with any easily perceived audible signal.
Visually-Obvious Locked/Unlocked Status
It is always visually apparent whether the QRC base unit is locked or unlocked.
Large Variety of Stroboframe Anti-Twist Plates
Several optional anti-twist plates fit between the quick release plate and camera, to provide supremely secure connection free of twist or creep.  Many different styles are offered to yield the best fit for your particular camera.  When properly installed, you can use your camera in the vertical orientation with a heavy lens with absolute assurance that it will stay pointing exactly where you've directed it.
Base Unit Directly Accepts Many Stroboframe Flash Brackets
Many of Stroboframe's flash brackets have a quick release plate built in to their base, allowing direct attachment of the bracket in to the QRC receiver.

THESE ARE BY FAR THE FINEST QUICK RELEASE SYSTEMS BY FAR! Expensive yes but worth it - after using these for nearly 20 years we plan to buy a few more this year. I have one that holds a very heavy $50k camera on it's SIDE in our camera room (studio) and I have no fear at all!!! Buy the anti-twist plates for best results.

I ordered and received 3 of these along with some other stuff. As always B&H shipped quickly and accurately. While researching this mount system I had read another reviwer complain about the 1/4" screw hole on his base not having accurate threads, therefore he couldn't get a screw in. He fixed it by re-tapping the base hole. I thought that could only happen once but of the 3 I ordered one did in fact need to be re-tapped. Fortunately I have taps. If I didn't, I would have been mad as hayl and sent it back. C'mon Stroboframe! Fix your QC!

Comments about Stroboframe Quick Release Set - Camera Auto - Plate and Base Unit:

I have 4 of these and am ordering another one. Use them on 5 different tripods with an old fuji finepix s2pro camera and 1000mm telephoto lens ( heavy weight ), a nikon D5000 and various lenses and flashes and a big heavy spotting scope.
Do a lot of beach photography plus portraits and wild!ife photography. Never had a single malfunction or any other issue.?
I have read the comments from the 2 guys about the hole threads. C'mon guys !! Whats the fuss ? Run a tap through the hole and your good to go. No big drama there !!
And yes, I am always telling everybody to buy these. GREAT PRODUCT !

Comments about Stroboframe Quick Release Set - Camera Auto - Plate and Base Unit:

I have used the QRC for years with film cameras, medium format, and digital. The plates are low-profile, so I keep them on the cameras without their making a big bulge and being clumsy to put in my camera bag. They click into the receiving base solidly, and I have never experienced a failure. Highly recommended. I wish Stroboframe made some more custom anti-twist plates that fit contemporary digital cameras - I bet they would attract a lot more customers.

Comments about Stroboframe Quick Release Set - Camera Auto - Plate and Base Unit:

I have been using the Stroboframe Quick Release system for years, since the late 70s. I am amazed, now that we have entered the digital age, how many other devices I can use with this QR system.

It's low profile and solid locking mechanism make it ideal for a number cameras and recorders I use in my work at a production company in Denver.

I use the system to mount Canon 60Ds to various support equipment including our Vinten tripods, SteadiCam Flyer LE and Zucuto shoulder rig. This is what "quick release" is all about. Sure beats having to screw everything together at odd angles and hard to reach places.

I also mount our Tascam DR-60D digital recorder to various pieces of hardware that make use of the recorder much easier. Fixing TV-Logic monitors to hardware is a snap as well.

If it has a 1/4"-20 threaded hole and needs to be attached to something we're using on shoot, chances are it will have a Stroboframe plate attached to it.

I have five of them and I use it on my Nikon D 800 body and as well as on three tripod heads and also with my Nikon 70-200 ED VR lens. Very easy, simple and fast to use and quite cheaper when compared to other brands. This product may not suite beyond 300mm lens range or very heavy bodies attached with extra battery pack.

The click it makes when the two pieces are mated let you know you are good to go.

Very impressed on how solid of a connection is made.

The Stroboframe Auto Quick Release is an essential component of my rig. Quick release and confirmed secure reattachment are essential for lightening fast gear changes. The reattachment is confirmed by listening for the click and a brief shake of equipment. This has never failed to securely reattach although the product does eventually wear out. The replacement cost is miniscule compared to the value of the service it provides.
