Advanced functions of the D3 and D300 cameras such as the Viewer for preview and selection of images prior to transfer, LiveView function and Picture Control System are also supported, along with the workflow of Nikon's exclusive photofinishing software Capture NX (optional) and the browser and viewer software View NX.

I bought this product because I love macro work and find myself shooting from a tripod in postions where it's impossible to use the viewfinder. I also do as much technical and architectural photography as I can find clients to pay me for and the promise of remote operation and control if often invaluable for those pursuits.
That said it works for me; how well I'm not sure yet. It's intuitive but the camera controls cannot be manipulated with "LiveView" feature enabled. In other words you apparently can't tweak controls to manipulate exposure or depth of field while viewing camera image output on your PC screen. This may be something I haven't learned yet as I have only had the product a few weeks and haven't had much time to spend with it.
Otherwise it seems like a solid, stable program and it does work "out-of-the-box" for my basic needs. I didn't find any problems with special settings using my D3; it was 'plug-and-play'. I haven't tried my 'old' D100 yet but did take note of other reviews and printed out their settings information in case it's needed. It's also the only game in town for Nikon. Next on my wishlist is the $700 wi-fi adapter unless I can find something better that will work...

For "professional" software, this application lacks basic repeatable configurability, an unscriptable user interface, is a resource hog, has a memory leak, and worst of all, can not be depended on as it crashes eventually (memory leak). Support is weak, and rather to be willing to work with a user to improve the product, Nikon tech support is more likely to suggest user/hardware error than to acknowledge their "pro" software, version 2.9 no less, is buggy, lacks enterprise (fail-safe, configurable) functionality, and for the level of program utility and reliability, extremely overpriced, especially when compared to the plethora of professional camera control options in the Canon environment.
That said, it does give you remote access to nearly all camera features, is good for acquiring single images (or bracketed), and can set up a mass storage device workflow. However, when there are freeware and shareware programs available that are considerably more reliable than Nikon's CCP2, I cannot recommend buying/supporting this product. And per Nikon, the software is not returnable for refund.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
The Camera Control Pro software makes it easy to set up and use my D300 camera. Software installation was simple and to no time at all. This software excells when viewing your subject on a high def monitor. Great for composition, checking your lighting, and looking for distracting elements. Using this software you can also make adjustments to your camera setting. the large image on a monitor is better than the viewfinder or live view.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
I am a serious amateur and got this for my D800 and 105mm macro to take close-ups of flowers. I can change the focusing point in Live View by simply double clicking an area. I'd downloaded the latest version, 2.13, 30 day free trial from Nikon USA which installed easily although the manual left much to be desired but the program's Help info is up to date. I only use it for a few hours at a time and haven't had any problems. It does more than I thought I could and B&H's price makes it a real bargain.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
Good camera control from a computer, good for studio work. It comes free with the Canon cameras, I was suprised I had to buy it for my Nikon!
Also, I needed to contact Nikon twice to get the latest software download to operate the D600.
The on-line manual is very clunky

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
This is one of the greatest programs in my laptop! With this, I can place my camera on a tripod, attached to my laptop by the USB cable and then place the tripod/camera in the very corner of any room, right against the wall corners, and see exactly what the camera see's on the laptop screen. I can then adjust the camera's zoom and angle in order to capture the exact exposure I'm looking for. This is a real boon to architectural photography. This program is also great for taking self-portraits or for letting your subjects see what their pose looks like before the exposure.
Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
I sadly made my whole entire studio set up dependent on this software. IF it worked as it should then it would have been fantastic. As things stand it is headache beyond belief. It simply fails constantly. I have scripted my tethered shoot workflow using this brittle and unrealiable piece of software. UNFORTUNATELY.
Nikon make great cameras but horrible software. And forget tech support.
I am very frustrated with Nikon in their software department. I have constacted them on several occasions - just to get a response to a tech question takes weeks. Answers come back eventually but are vague and useless.
An example: I asked "why does the AF and shoot function no longer have a key command associated with it in the new version CCP when your last version did ?" Answer(after waiting 3 weeks) "we're looking into it..."
I would definitely not use this software now knowing what I know now. Plus there is other software out there thst seems much better and CHEAPER by far. As a Mac user I had very limited choices for tethered worflow a few years back. I would not USE this except with extreme caution.

My program didn't download automatically the update that was required to allow the program to identify my Nikon D5100. Finally Nikon support came through and the program WORKS! This took alot of communication an persistance with Nikon Support over Two days. You will Need Version "Camera Control Pro - 2.10.0 Update".

I wish it could control the multiple exposure function of my d7000 but the 7000 greys out that option when connected to the computer. what a shame.
Otherwise the software is good. A little sluggish maybe but it sure beats getting on a ladder to try to look through the viewfinder or LCD screen.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
I purchased this software to do time lapse photography with the D40 and D60. The software is very easy to use, and does time lapse well. For the D40 it couldn't detect the camera until the USB mode was set to PTP (instead of Mass Storage). The software drains the camera battery in about 3 hours, so an A/C adapter is usually advisable. I planned to use USB communication over a 75' Cat5e cable, with APC adapters at each end. In this case the computer can see the camera just fine, and the software does too, but there is some problem and Camera Control Pro 2 will freeze after less than a minute and not recover until the camera is turned off.

I have an amateur indoor studio (strobes, umbrellas, backdrop, etc) for shooting kids and grand kids. This software is fantastic because after each shot, I can view the picture on my 17.3 inch laptop instead the 3 inch screen of my Nikon D-300. I have none of the problems expressed by other reviewers. Shame on Nikon for making this software so expensive. One other con is that there is no independent viewer, i.e. you must use Nikon's free viewer which is fairly easy to use but an instant viewer for this software would have been better. I'm going with 5 stars bec it is simply fantastic software in spite of the few cons I've indicated.

I like the fact that I can now shoot tethered with my Nikon but I find it very annoying that when software is activated, while camera is tethered, you lose control of the camera itself. Shutter release must be done form the computer and you can no longer compose your shot through the viewfinder of the camera.
Also there is a required download from Nikon to actually view your tehthered full screen images.
This program was a big dissapointment and I wish there was a better alternative
