This rugged bag seems to offer superb protection with plenty of room for everything plus a bit more. The zippers operate flawlessly with no hint that they might fail and will definitely keep the wet out. A stout rubber kick-plate at the bottom front is a real confidence builder; my camera body sits directly behind it; lens pointing up and causes me no worries.

The folding handle stows away tight and can be a bit troublesome to extract when in a hurry. Also, the wheels are not set in the corners as they should be so pack accordingly and be prepared for a bit of sway when rounding corners.

A bit bulkier than expected this bag will not be allowed as cary-on when boarding smaller regional aircraft so be prepared to check it at the gate on short flights. This should not be an issue on cross country flights as I've seen much larger bags onboard without a blink form airline personnel.

I will likely not use the backpack portion very often, but love the idea that I can throw it over my shoulders whenever I might need to. The color combination is subtle and the whole rig looks tough; the dividers are a dream and when not packed to the max, the cinch straps will crush the bag down around he contents and not let go.

I'm deducting 3/4 of a star for wheel type and placement; stupid on an otherwise fine piece of equipment, and 1/4 star for the hideaway handle placement.

I've owned this backup, along with a small fleet of other bags, for about 18 months now and have slowly demoted this one lower and lower in favor.

The zipper is just awful. I appreciate the rubber lining that intends to waterproof it, but the zipper is too finely-toothed and separates regularly when the bag is remotely full and stressed. I'm constantly having to play with it to get the zipper aligned again.

The side pockets make no sense - one would think they're intended for smaller loose objects, but since they're only partially-divided from the main compartment you'll find that anything unsecured with commonly pass through and rattle around the inside.

The laptop sleeve is nice enough, and a perfect fit for a 15" MacBook Pro, but I would have liked to see the top section of it squared off just a little more to allow for storage of the power supply or any other accessory.

The rain hood is nice to have, but the storage design for it is a little odd.

The ability to stow the shoulder straps is an interesting choice that would have made more sense if you could leave just one exposed, or use a modified chest strap. The only value I've found to stowing both straps is reducing the chance of snagging the bag when shoving it into airline overhead compartments or under seats.

In short, it's not a pack that's intended to be stuffed full or used rigorously, but is overpriced for casual users. I'm a fan of Tenba's products in general, but this one is a miss.

I researched packs alot before I decided on this one. I hesitated to buy because of some of the reviews. They said the pack was to big, the zippers worked rough, and the wheel placement made it hard to roll. I am very happy to say that I am extremely happy with this pack. The pack is the perfect size for my camera outfit and even gives me some room to expand. The heavy duty zipper going around a double curve works as smooth as any zipper I have seen. I love the rolling feature, it just works. I could not be any happier.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Rolling Backpack, Medium (Black and Olive):

Just bought the Shootout Rolling Backpack by Tenba. It is a great backpack! It holds all my large gear and makes it easy to pack and gain access to it all. However, there is a small draw back. While it is great for the large items, there is not much room or organization for several small items! An example of the items not planned for would be, power cables for laptop, accessories for camera batteries and chargers, note pads, memory cards, extra cables and extension cords, etc. Aside for this small setback, I still love the Shootout Backpack. Maybe the Large Shootout Rolling Backpack would be better.

I had a lowepro backpack without wheels. I wanted something to drag around in airports an location with ease. So I look for all the options and the brands and made a decision on the tenba shootout rolling backpack. I'm so happy it went with it. It fits all my gear. And it is off my back in transit.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Rolling Backpack, Medium (Black and Olive):

I use this backpack for my every day camera bag. I don't enjoy shifting gear from one bag to another so I needed one that would be able to contain my smaller collection of lenses and camera body comfortably. This does exactly that.

I love the adjustable compartments and functionality of the interior. I'm still getting used to the side compartments as they are not as easily accessible when I'm shooting and would want to access a different lens. Perhaps it's learned. I'm especially grateful for the "rolling" feature of this backpack. When the pack is full, it is nice to roll it if possible. It takes a minute or two to disengage the harness, fold in the straps and prepare it to roll so you want to make sure you can roll it for a while.

But with all that said, this is the best camera pack I've used so far and would recommend anyone to give Temba a strong consideration. My advice would be to go to a store and check it out with some of your gear to ensure it'll all fit — especially if you think it may be a tight squeeze.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Rolling Backpack, Medium (Black and Olive):

This bag is poorly designed. The bag sits over the wheels and the wheel diameter is not big enough, so the bag actually drags on the ground and scrapes and destroys the material. Also, it is too heavy for backpacking when full...unless you are Hercules.

I have the exact same bag in non-rolling form. From that standpoint it is great, just walk very slowly when rolling it. The wheels are to close together. The bag tips over very easliy and the handle felt cheap...like it could break at any moment.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Rolling Backpack, Medium (Black and Olive):

I bought the bag immediately before traveling to Europe a couple of weeks ago. Overall, the bag is very comfortable as a backbag while the capability of converting it to a rolling case is a fantastic bonus. Everything is nicely appointed, proportioned and designed. In addition to the travel aspects, and the ability to carry-on my camera gear & computer in one bag, most of my pro shoots now require that I have a laptop with me to post photos immediately so the slot for the computer is great to have for those occasions as well. The compartment is also nicely padded and with a great sealing zipper. One caveat: just because you can put a lot of stuff in the bag doesn't mean you can carry it on: in many countries outside the U.S. in addition to the bag's size, the WEIGHT of the carry-on has restrictions as well that are far below its capacity.

I have used this bag on location alot and in the rain.
The actual bag feels very secure and that lenses and cameras are protected. Has good side pockets.
Even though it is very sturdy the center column to pull the bag on it's wheels makes it fall to one side sometimes and it's a little tight on the zippers once the gear is in it. But I think it will stretch a little

Comments about Tenba Shootout Rolling Backpack, Medium (Black and Olive):

I did a lot of looking around for a backpack that could hold all of my gear and the Shootout is the best. Innovative features and quality construction are it's greatest attributes. I was a little hesitant to spend over[$] for a backpack but considering I have [$]worth of camera and lenses loaded in it, it was a small price to pay.
