The bag fits everything I need: Nikon D80, Sigma 150 macro lens, Nikon 18-200mm VR lens, Flash, Ring Flash, about a dozen SD cards, camera manual, and all of my other camera gear. The only downside that I have found is that there is not a lot of other room for a hoodie or rain jacket except for the mesh water bottle holder. I was looking also at the Lowepro's Fastpack 350. The Fastpack is nice because of the easy access and more gear storage except it was bulky and honestly pretty ugly and does not have the tripod holder. I love the flipside because I am an outdoorsman and like the sleekness when I hike and am out and about. I did not want a cumbersome bag which would get in my way when climbing. The Flipside keeps my gear secure and safe, is comfortable to wear, and simply has everything you need in a day bag with nothing you don’t.

I had to visit the Lowepro site to make sure I bought the correct camera backpack. The one I ordered, Flipside 300, touts that it will hold a digital SLR, 300mm 2.8, and other lenses and gear. My Nikon D300 and 300mm 2.8, with lens hood, take up virtually all of the inside space. Maybe I'm supposed to take the camera off the lens. I could wedge some other items inside, but that lens cost me a fortune. The inside dividers will be used for additional padding to protect my lens.
I have other Lowepro gear, and will probably purchase more. However, I'm disappointed with this particular item. I can see using it with my 80-200 2.8, which would allow me to carry another lens or two.
Find a local dealer to see if this works for you, before you purchase it. None of the pro dealers in my area had any when I was shopping around.

My son is a student and is just learning how to care for his "glass". This product has room to grow, lots of side pockets for all those little things, great design, and color. He especially likes the feel of the bag, and the fact that his equipment is really secure inside.I'd recommend it 100%

This is my second Lowepro backpack. I outgrew the first (too many lenses) and this one is nicely laid out for travel, which is where I find myself using my camera the most. Well thought out design without useless extras.

Comments about Flipside 300 Backpack (Arctic Blue/Black):

With four kids involved in high school activities, I often find myself in relatively confined seats in a gym or auditorium. This is a great bag to carry my camera in because I can comfortably keep it down at my feet. The back-side opening still allows me to just unzip the top of the bag to pull my camera out for the shots I want to take and then slip it back into the bag quickly. It has just enough room for my Camera with 70-200 lens attached as well as a 24-70 and external flash unit (580exII). This is great because after the game or show I am often asked to get a group shot and I want to have quick access to a wide angle lens and my flash. It is very narrow and I need to put the camera in on it's side, as opposed to what you seen in the example images. The additional width of the lens hood on both my 70-200 and the 24-70 made it too narrow for the equipment (notice the example image does not have lens hoods attached). A little extra width would have done the trick - probably less than in inch.

It's great. It'll manage whatever. It may not hold your entire collection of lenses but it'll hold one or two, plus your camera and a fair amount of supplies. It's confortable and fast in the field for sure.Decent againsed the rain, but extra measures should be taken if you're gonna use it in EXTREME weather.

I needed a bag like this because I developed a bad case of tennis elbow from carrying my tripod around in my left arm. This bag has a tripod loop. My son uses this bag and recommended it; he even wears the bag (tripod and all) while cycling, so it is secure and comfortable. I think the fact that the opening for the camera is against your back lends added security, though it takes a bit of getting used to.

Comments about Flipside 300 Backpack (Arctic Blue/Black):

I couldn't get this pack to feel comfortable. I wouldn't recommed if you are tall and plan on spending most of the day hiking about. Most of the weight was on my lower back with very little on my shoulders. I fiddled with the differents strap lengths and never could get it to feel comfortable. It gets worse if you add a tripod.

The waist strap doesn't do much at all except allow you to swing the pack around to access your gear. That part works as advertised. It doesn't help support the weight. The flipside 300 has a heftier belt and might be better for that.

The inner compartments could be better laid out and the side pocket doesn't have much use for anything. Credit cards, keys. I returned it and have recommissioned a very old north face backpack that I loaded with twice the weight and a 100 oz camelback and it feels much lighter to me.

Comments about Flipside 300 Backpack (Arctic Blue/Black):

As a wildlife photographer and having used the same Tamrac camera backpack for several years, I was excited by my prospects of ordering a new Lowepro Flipside 300 Backpack. When it arrived, I was not disappointed. Although a bit taller than my old backpack, it's actually lighter and more comfortable to carry. Most importantly, it allows me to carry my DSLR at the ready, with a 500mm lens attached. It appears well constructed and engineered, and has lots of configuration options.

                  Pro:
can fit a full-sized DSLR with 500mm telephoto lens attached, plus additional lenses and accessories. Removable "accessories bag," chest and waist belts.

                  Con:
slim design could have been made a bit wider without compromising functionality.

Lightweight, attractive back pack that keeps everything inside protected. Because it is tall and slim, the backs of my arms don't bang in to it when I'm moving around. There are dedicated pockets for cards and a nice pocket inside for cords, filters, etc. There's also a tripod strap. Some may object to the zipper located on the back and may feel that the back straps interfere with access. I feel safer with the rear zipper -- against my back -- instead of one facing behind me. I always know that no one can reach in without my knowledge. Seems very well built. I had tried a larger Lowepro 400 AW but it was too big and wide. This one suits me just fine.

Comments about Flipside 300 Backpack (Arctic Blue/Black):

I did quite a lot of research and this pack fits my gear pretty exactly. I have: Nikon D5100, Nikon 16-85mm lens, Tamron 70-300mm lens, Nikon 35mm lens, Nikon 85mm lens, filters, cleaning gear, and Induro Tripod w ball head. Looking to get Nikon SB-400 Flash, which should fit nicely in the narrower slots on right side. I took a trip to Torrey Pines and hiked for 3 hours with my gear and tripod attached; the pack was quite comfortable with all my gear.

What keeps this from 5 star rating is the very thin waist belt. You are supposed to be able to slide the pack off your shoulders and swing it around to the front. That works, but the waste strap which supports all the weight is quite thin and with all my gear I am sure would torque my back. That being said I still like the pack as it is the perfect size for my gear and easy enough to use if I just take the pack off and work with it from a bench or the ground.

This is a sturdy and with strong support harness to support the weight. However, I wish it has more pockets outside the camera compartment so carrier can carry other non-equipment items, like a snack, etc. And I also wish it has the opening in the front. To access the camera, you have to lay down the bag to open the compartment which is awkward.

This is my 1st experience with the flipside bags and am impressed. So far only negatives for me are the following:
                          - pocket on side dosen't expnad so only good for flatter objects like lens pen, CF/SD, etc.
                          - Bottom of bag can dig into lower back depending on your torso height and weight in bag.

All in all, a very good concept/execution for a bag that is relatively easy to shoot quickly from, and carry on long hikes.

Comments about Flipside 300 Backpack (Arctic Blue/Black):

I needed a smaller pack to hike around with. My main pack is huge has room for a lot of gear and weighs a ton, so i want something smaller. This pack has room for minimal gear. Camera body a couple lenses, a couple filters, a few protein bars, water bottle on the side and your ready to go. There is no rain cover on this bag. I got caught in a mt storm in glacier, heavy rain and hail, this bag got wet and of course heavier during the mile hike back to the car ( luckily only a mile) . Once in the car i opened pack up and everything in side was still dry i on the other hand was soaked head to toe. I dont know what longer exposure results would have but for my experience i'm happy with how the bag performed.

I bought a new D7000 and had no place to keep it so I found this at B & H. My wife and kids thought it was to big, I like it because of the way you access the camera and the fact that I can use it as a backpack if need be. It appears to be very durable and I trust lowepro

Comments about Flipside 300 Backpack (Arctic Blue/Black):

I wanted a bag that I didn't have to take off and find a place to rest it every time I wanted something out of it. This bag fit the bill. The waist belt lets you easily flip it off your shoulder and spin it around to your front, and then it becomes like a suspended lap desk. The back zipper lets you easily access equipment this way. Some people commented that they wished the back flap zipped all the way down to expose the last compartment, but I did not find this to be a big detractor. I hiked all over a huge public garden (Longwood Gardens, PA), and used 3 different lenses and a monopod - it was great! Glad I got the bigger bag (300 as opposed to the 200) - I did not find it too big or cumbersome. The straps did dangle a bit after you adjusted them, but I secured them w/ binder clips and it worked well. Also if you're female, I would not recommend wearing a button up shirt w/ this bag; as it causes some frontal gappage w/ both shoulder straps on - wear a Tshirt or a polo :)

This packer is not a let down.. it's also backed by B&H so you're more confident in your purchase, having delt with them for awhile now, I can say they have decent customer service.
Anyway, I'd check out the product demos throughout the site if you care to know more about what you're looking at before you do any purchasing.

This camera backpack is AWESOME. I love to walk on trails & through parks, but carrying a camera bag & tripod is just a hassle. I also have back problems & actually use a backpack purse as recommended by my doctors. With this pack it holds everything I need & I'm hands free. I just love it.

Going on a cruise to Panama and needed something to put my cameras in. Did a lot of research, several weeks reading reviews. Needed something I could easily carry on a plane and enough room for a camera and a couple of lenses.
This bag fits the need very well. Appears to be well made well. Everything I want to put in fits with some room left over.
I see no problems with this bad at this time. After the trip I will know more.
