I own the Fastpack 100 but while traveling I found I wanted a little more room to hold my larger lens/raincoat.I did not want to give up the side opening feature as this is so handy to use. I really like the extra room the 200 offers and was surprised it really didn't feel much different on my back than the 100. The adjustable inserts make for easy packing of individual lenses and the padding protects your equipment nicely. The little bit of size difference between the 100 & 200 made alot of difference in what I could carry.I wish it had the waist strap but I was not using it for actual hiking so it was fine.On my trip to Alaska I had someone inquire about the pack as they saw me using the side opening and they planned to buy one A.S.A.P.because they loved the packs features.I recomend this over the sling pack as you can carry this on one strap(like the sling pack) or use both straps. Highly recomend this pack, you won't regret it.

maybe can be good for amateurs, but in pro use, are not good
Just are space for 1 body of slr and always used with lens.
If the lenses are a big, there´s no space.
Flash have no space...

I bought this before my (second) trip to India, 3 weeks traveling with gf, so not a really serious photo expedition. Still, I wanted to bring some decent glass and not break my back.
I was a fond user of the original Slingshot, and despite some durability issues, I loved the side entry option for getting gear. (After prolonged use the side entry became difficult since the bag lost it's shape and the zipper had to be used with 2 hands)
So far, the bag has held up great. 3 weeks of 90 degree heat and constant use and it still has good shape. Breathability was good, and the back of the bag dried quickly. I've used it since on a 3 day shoot, and again, it performed quite well.
Kit: In the main compartment it held a Nikon D7000 with a 17-35 2.8 attached, a 70-200 2.8, and a 12-24 DX lens. The leftover space was only big enough for batteries and cords. In the top compartment I kept a 50mm 1.4 and an SB-800, plus a guide book, note book, sunscreen, sunglasses case, and maybe a magazine. In my opinion, this is not the ideal bag for a pro body. A D3/x will barely fit with a 24-70 attached, and leave little room for another pro lens. It's possible to stuff a 70-200 in the top compartment, but that makes changing lenses sketchy.
It's an excellent choice for certain shoots, (the backpack option is an absolute shoulder-saver!), but it's not a cure-all. The camera compartment needs to be a little bigger, the top compartment should be slightly smaller, add a magazine/ipad pocket, and add an all-weather cover and then I'll have my dream bag!

unlike what the specs say, this bag can carry a gripped 7D with 16-35 II attached, a 70-200 II and their associated lens hoods and tripod collar. you can then put a 580EX in the top compartment and still have spare room for other accessories and even an extra shirt! it's very comfortable to carry too!

This product is being used by high school yearbook students. The style is outstanding, the efficiency of the pouches and storage areas is tremendous, and the over sturdiness is high. When the students saw the bag they were very excited because it was not "embarassing" to carry or difficult to carry because of its sleek styling. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I think the other reviews sum it up pretty well. One review mentions not having a tripod holder but I used the two clips for the safety flap for that. Just let them out far enough for your tripod and put it under the lower part of the safety flap. Once you click them closed it holds a tripod just fine. I've hiked all over Colorado for the last three months since buying this and have never had any trouble carrying the tripod this way. It would be a little small for an overnight trip but is ideal as a daypack.

I wanted to carry my laptop and my camera, I should have gotten the fastpack250. But I got this one, the top section does fit my 12inch netbook at a slant, which is actually fine.
The problem I have is that camera section is divided too small, not really built for 6 lens, even 4 smaller lenses would be a tight squeeze. Strobe flashes would fit well in the spots that are too small for lenses, but then the depth of the bag is about a half inch short for strobes, so they are a tight squeeze as well.

All in all, this bag is good, but there is really only one space for a lens (imo) and one attached to the camera, the spots on the top and bottom are too narrow to easily fit lenses (though I was able to squeeze in some stuff, it isn't really practical)

I bought this pack prior to going on a hiking/biking trip in Yellowstone. I wore it the entire time and it was great. I had a D90 body, 18-55 lens, and 70-300 lens, plus cleaning supplies, filters, and memory cards. It held them all very well plus I carried a water bottle on the side and my phone, iPod, snacks and a jacket in the top compartment. It fitted nicely and seemed to be pretty well ventilated, my back didn't get too sweaty during all the exercise. So far the zippers seem to be holding up. I wish it had a chest strap or hip strap for more conformed fitting but it worked great otherwise. I also wish the dividers were a bit more flexible, for example I usually had my larger lens attached to the camera but on the occasion that I had the smaller lens attached it was difficult fitting the larger lens into the storage compartments. It felt like I was jamming the lens into a spot that was just a bit too small for it.

Great bag for hiking and local trips when you just want to capture some shots without taking all your equipment. Fits a large Pro-Digital SLR with a medium size lens on, and a couple of small lenses and flash. The side pocket holds two standard size water bottles and the top pouch is good for snacks. Easy to swing around and get your camera out.

I picked this up as a companion to my large Lowepro Pro Runner 450 AW which I use on major trips when I take two bodies and at least four lenses and all the fixins. I use the Fastpack for day trips or when hiking. After several long 3-6 mile hikes using a shoulder bag I decided I needed something like this - shoulder bags can be murder on the shoulders over time. It can hold a body mounted to a 70-200mm f/2.8, 16-85mm f/5.6 and a 10-24 f/4.5 in the bottom section, a good set for a day trip. For longer hikes I will take a lighter kit including a 16-85, 10-24mm lens and possibly a fisheye if my destination is a mountain top, plus maps, snacks and at least two bottles of water, one of which can easily be carried on the side of the bag.

This bag is comfortable and lightweight and after carrying it for about 15 miles worth of hikes I will never use shoulder bags again. The only downside is that it is not waterproof. Sure it will hold up well in light rain since it is water resistant but I have been in prolonged downpours on the trail and the inside does get wet but will air out overnight. Great bag with plenty of room.

I use this for trips to zoos, took a bit to get use to. But handles a D200w/grip, 80 200 2.8 although tight, sb600 and 17 50 2.8 in main compartment, lots of snaps to use it all.
The upper compartment, I carry cards, batt. filter packs and my 300 f4.I won't say its the pack to end all but works real good for me.
Shoulder straps 4 stars only.
With a large zoom like a 80 200 with hood reversed I have to set down to access gear can;t just swing around, lens w/hood to big and its tight.80 200 and Nikon D200 w/grip just does fit,
but with practice works okay.

No matter how many other bags I look at or purchase, this has been the backpack that I always go back to or compare others to. No frills, but highly functional; this bag lets me hold plenty of gear. It easily lets me hold my Canon with 70-200 f4L attached with 2 other lenses and a flash with no problems. There is ample room for filters, extra battery/charger and cleaning equipment. But once you pack all that, you'll have minimal room left for any other personal items. That really is my only con-- well, it is a little on the bulky side. There is no perfect pack, but this is an excellent one.

Just returned from a trip to Las Vegas using my Fastpack 200 Backpack for the first time. I found this backpack a great way to not only carry my camera equipment but also an excellent product for protection of everything inside. Carrying the backpack on an aircraft also made it easy to store during flight. Easy access to my camera while carrying the backpack proved to be easy and didn't require a flat surface to place a bag on to open up. This product eliminated several problems I previously had using a conventional camera bag.

I purchased this bag when I outgrew my old one. With the side opening I can quickly remove my camera without having to take off the backpack. The camera goes in the lower section and accessories above. I would like to have someplace for a large water bottle.
