I originally purchased the Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW, but after carrying all my gear in it, I decided that I really wanted a backpack as the weight would be more evenly distributed. I love how the fastback 250 still retains the slingshot method to get your camera out and on target. I only have 2 problems.
1) No all weather cover!! Come on people, the idea is to progress, not regress. Even with that said, the material seems strong enough to stop water from getting in, however, I was much more comfortable with my Slingshot's weather cover
2) I had to take out one entire side of dividers so that I can fit my 24-70 2.8 and my 70-200 2.8 IS. I tried to keep the setup with one row on the left, one row on the right for lenses, and the middle row for the camera with attached lens, but the 70-200 2.8 is just too big. So it fits my light gear needs, but I have no room to upgrade if I choose to carry additional lenses.

I was given this bag by request to replace a Canon 200DG. I was happy with the Canon 200DG bag but wanted something in a backpack for less strain while carrying.
This bag is certainly comfortable but I'm not thrilled with how the lenses lay out in the main compartment. I'm putting in a 7D, 70-200 2.8, 24-70L, Tokina 11-16mm, 50mm 1.8, and a 430EX flash.
While the Canon 200DG allowed me to fit the 70-200 vertically, the Fastpack 250 does not. In fact, I could not find any way to fit all of my lenses in this bag without leaving the 70-200 connected to the camera. This was not an issue in the Canon 200DG. I actually used to carry a small Canon HD camcorder in there as well.
Also, if you do decide to lay a long lens flat (or horizontal) in the bag, there is a lot of wiggle room between the front and back. You could remedy this by packing a flash or something similar on top of it. Regardless, the width between the front and back of the bag seems to be at a strange, in-between depth that doesn't leave you feeling very secure packing a long lens.
About leaving the longer lenses attached: It's not the worst thing in the world to do but I would prefer not. My 70-200 doesn't get as frequent use as some of my other lenses so having to switch to that lens when I store my gear, then likely take it off when I access the gear again seems like a waste of time.
It may not be fair to fault the bag as it's simply a design choice that doesn't fit my needs. However, given the size of the bag in comparison to the Canon 200DG, I figured I would not have had any issues fitting my gear the way I wanted. I like the pocket for a laptop and the top compartment seems good for lens hoods and random bits.
Overall, it's a nice bag but if you're hauling a longer lens like the 70-200 2.8, be aware that your configuration options are limited.

I take this bag when I travel by air and need my laptop. I've tried to find a better bag but have not found one. It is not too heavey and pretty compact. It will fit under the seat of any aircraft.
It stores my D7000 plus 3 lenses and a pocket Panasonic. The small side pocket is great for a small note book, glasses etc and the padded Notebook area will also hold a newspaper or magazines. The top pocket serves any extra gear, Ipod etc. It is not top heavey and I usually carry it in sling mode. You should consider this bag if you travel. Love it!

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 250 Backpack (Red/Black):
This bag is comfortable to wear and very durable. I'm a big guy and this bag easily accommodates me! I can carry my Nikon D3100 with my 18-55mm kit lens attached or my 55-300mm with a quick adjustment of the compartments. I have 1 DSLR body, 2 lenses, 3 batteries, charger, spare mem card, shutter remote cord, blower, lens brush, cleaning spray, q-tips, lens towels, and 1 CPL filter all in the camera compartment with room to spare! I've used the laptop side pocket for my laptop sparingly (works great!), I mostly use it to carry my 40" Wescott 5-in-1 reflector/diffuser (folded, of course) and 2 photography books! I do have to push the reflector down to zip it closed, but it works great with the excellent quality zippers and stitching! In the top main zippered compartment I have a field book, Gary Fong Puffer, 2 lens hoods, and misc papers with room to spare. In the secondary top pocket I have my ipod, headphones, and LED book light. Secondary bottom pocket I have pens, markers, etc. I can carry much more in this bag!
I'm extremely pleased with the durabilty of this bag. I'm a truck driver and I carry this bag EVERYWHERE and on many occassions I've banged it and dropped with without ill effects to it or the contents. And, nothing seems to stick to it! Everything cleans off easily with a damp cloth. Rain flows right off of it, too!
The only thing I see as a problem is when I buy second DSLR. I'll probably have to get the 350 model!

I had a specific need in mind- a backpack that would hold my 15" MacBook Pro, as well as a DSLR with lens attached. More specifically, I wanted quick access to the DSLR for shooting on the street.
I had initially intended to buy the CompuDay 250 for this purpose, but had forgotten the name and when browsing in store picked up this instead.
It's somewhat larger than what I had originally planned on getting, but this is made up for by the fact that there is a great amount of room for storage. The main camera gear compartment has padded slots for a DSLR with lens, an additional lens, and four batteries/small accessories or lenses. Above that compartment is a large unsegmented area that I use to carry my nook, notebook, travel mouse and chargers (still plenty of room to spare).
My 15" MacBook Pro fits into the laptop compartment no problem, and the waist harness is good for distributing the weight of everything.
Only thing to look out for here is that it is a little bit bulky, so for the sake of proper subway etiquette I always make sure to take it off and hold it by the top handle when entering a crowded car.

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 250 Backpack (Red/Black):
When I was out to purchase a backpack I wanted something that was "backpacky" yet could easily allow me to access my camera and equipment.
The FastPack250 is what I eventually settled on. The easy access side compartment allows me to wear it around and still retain quick access to my camera by swinging the back onto one shoulder and popping open the side compartment. If I don't need my camera right away I can hide the zippers behind the flap so someone can't access them - a built in security feature so to speak.
The main seller is the side access on this, quick shots, and camera can go away. It also means you don't need to put the bag down to access your camera. Easily stores a Macbook Pro 15.7" too.
Straps are comfortable, lots of padding and protection which makes it a little bit bulkier than a real backpack. I was out in the rain with it, decent water protection, except I wish Lowepro included a rain cover like it does on it's other accessories (-1 star).
What I have in mine:
-Nikon D5000
-Remote Shutter Cable
-iPod / iPod Cables
-50mm lens
-55mm to 200mm lens
-18mm to 55mm lens
-Battery charger and cable
-Water bottle on the side pocket
-Macbook Pro 15.7" + charger
-Other stuff in the top pocket
Light enough you can take it with you on a bike or bus, but no so big that it's a pain. Worth the money.

Great Product, grab and go - its all where it needs to be! I have enough room in the top compartment to carry a small 1080HD camcorder kit.
I also have the two lens version of this backpack, that model works so well for me it was an easy decision when expanding me kit.
A great range, reasonably priced, comfortable to wear / carry - you've gotta give Lowepro a go!

This bag has so much room! Very easy to custom design to fit your configuration. takes to seconds to swing around and hang off of one shoulder so you can grab your camera out with out having (1) everything fall out (2) not having to set it down anywhere. NEVER miss a shot while trying to get your gear out of your bag. Great amount of padding and very adjustable. Fits both on my 5'6" frame and my husbands 6'4" frame.

I got this backpack for week-end photo trips. It holds my D90 (with battery pack) and zoom lens with room for another lens, flash and my iPad. There is enought room for all those little extras - battery chargers, filters, etc. Well worth the money.

I love how easy it is to access my camera. Pack is bulky looking on your back but feels good to carry and again the ease of getting to your camera, lens and gear is great.

I use it for day treks at my lake property. Very comfortable and easy to get to the camera. I have a Cannon 7D with several lens. I also carry the Zacuto View Finder and a Rode Mic. All fits well into pack and is well protected. Extra room for other stuff. Would be nice to have a tripod strap!

Finally a bag in which I can fit what I need. Also I like the fact that it doesn't scream that it is a camera bag ful of expensive equipment. It looks like any old backpack
