The SKB 1SKB19-RSF2U Studio Flyer (Black) is a rotomolded polyethylene case designed to transport and protect a standard 2U rack mount for recording devices or a disk drive and a laptop computer. It has a removable cover and an adjustable computer compartment. The case has a fiberglass-reinforced nylon trigger release latching system, with a TSA-accepted and recognized locking latch. The case has a cable pass-through from laptop to rack, and a built-in mouse pad surface. It is transported by a cushion-grip rubber over-molded handle, a two-stage, injection molded pull-out handle and in-line wheels.

I use this case to store my audio interface/laptop during and in between live recording concerts. The lock system is very handy to protect your gear at home and on the road. Very easy to use and extremely portable - a worthy addition to any mobile studio setup. Only thing to be aware of is negotiating the faceplate of your gear and the holes in the rack holder. Definitely used the wheel mechanism as this case is really not designed to be carried.

If you need a case to accommodate your laptop and 2U rack unit, then you need this case. I use it for my 17" VAIO laptop and 2 Firepods. I also have room for the power adapters, headphones, and a backup hard drive behind the Firepods (you'll want to use additional padding if you do this).
This case recently made a month-long trip through West Africa, and all of my gear survived unscathed, which is remarkable. Once, I watched in horror as a taxi driver literally dropped the case from about 4 feet off the ground onto the concrete. I immediately opened it up, checked all of my equipment, and to my relief, there was no damage whatsoever. There wasn't even any damage to the case itself. I can confidently say that this case saved my gear many many times.
I will mention that, when loaded with gear, this case will be heavier than the carry-on weight restriction of most airlines, even though it will easily fit in the overhead compartments. Depending on the airline (and your luck), you may have trouble carrying it on. Fortunately, I did not.

Desire, construction, durability is very good.
I some area needed more detailed trimming of this sharp molded plastic. You could cut finger on this sharp edges in some places. But my opinion over all is very positive.
