The LDS Lamp is for the Thomas Duplex Safelight. It is a glass enveloped specialty replacement bulb for the Thomas Duplex series of safelights.

I have been teaching in darkrooms lit with thomas safelights for over 40 years and they are the only solution. That's it. Fantastic light.

I have used these bulbs for almost 2 decades, they are fantastic and do last for years. The light is much much better than standard darkroom bulbs, and one can adjust the light out. If your film can take it ( and it probably will) it's nearly as good as regular room lighting as one can get. I hope never to use another light. Figuring out the bulb without instructions is hard, push in and twist type of bulb.

These bulbs provide the brightest light in the darkroom that I have experienced. The amber colored light is much easier to see in than red light. Bulbs should last for years but are quite expensive when they finally need to be replaced. Overall, they provide for a safe and productive black and white darkroom environment.

The only gripe I have is that they are difficult to get out at times.
