The Pentax D-BG3 Battery Grip for the K200D Digital Camera provides a comfortable grip when shooting with the camera in a vertical orientation and includes a well placed vertical release with all of the functions found on the camera's built-in release trigger.
The battery grip also extends the camera's horizontal grip for better stability when shooting in the horizontal orientation. The D-BG3 battery Grip also allows users to add an additional four AA-size batteries, effectively doubling the shooting capacity of the K200D Digital Camera.

I can't believe I waited so long to get this! I bought this battery grip for my K200D mainly for the extra battery storage. But I was pleasantly surprised when it gave me much more than that. First, it looks great! It gives the camera a more professional look. The 200D is not quite as 'hefty' as some other cameras, even though it performs well in my opinion, so the grip makes it more pleasing to look at. Next, I was shocked at how much easier it is to hold vertically! This is probably the best thing about it. The added shutter button on the top(when vertical) makes it so much easier to take a picture in that position. The added weight was never a concern of mine and still is not. It gives you more grip to hold on to all around and makes it much more balanced...especially when you have a larger lens like the 50-300. And it doesn't overcompensate with smaller lenses on either. I do not see any negative difference in shutter speed so no concern there. You can set the camera, from menu, to which set of batteries you want used first. I like the idea of using the grip batteries first but I think it doesn't matter much in the long run. It also has an AE-L button. I haven't really used it yet but its good to have. I think it's important to note that I use Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries on both the camera and grip. They last an extremely long time and weigh much less than regular AA's. Both reasons outweigh the cost(which isn't much more anyway). Over-all I think it is well worth the $ or so to get. On a side note, the shipping was very speedy from B&H and I will be using them again.

If you own a pentax that will take this battery grip Buy it you will not regreat it . i use lithium batteries both in my camera and this grip and my camera will last for 6 mounths with out changing batteries

Although it adds some weight to the camera (especially with batteries installed) the grip gives the photographer better grip in portrait orientation. The grip also bulks up the entire camera a little, providing better stability in your hands. The extra power comes in handy for shots as well.

Love the grip. Nice to have the shutter release button for vertical shots. Seemed a little heavy at first, but balances nicely on a camera strap. I especially like that I can go out on extended hikes and take over 1300 photos with the batteries in the camera and in the grip. Well worth the price for this item.
