Comments about Pentax D-LI68 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery:

It boils down to you. Carry 3 OEM batteries, or carry 6 generic and have the same combined portable power for (in my case) your Q.

I've done a multitude of tests compairing 3 OEM batteries vs 5 generic (3 were returned, kept the other only becasue they came in a package with a travel charger). The OEM's ran on average twice as long as the best of the generic's I tested. I had one generic that would only power the camera for 18 minutes... The best generic powered for about 1hr 20mins, the average of the OEM's was 2Hr and 35mins.

The main reasons I can see, are the OEM have a tigher tollerance between Min and Max labeled rating, 2 of the 3 have the Min right on the label. None of the generics had that, nor did they have a remotely close labled rating. Generic's I tested were rated both 1200mAh and 1500mAh. The Pentax were rated Min 960mAh Typical 1000mAh. Based on my tests the generic's were closer to 600mAh or less.

So, it's your call. Carry more, change them more often, charge them more often and gamble that you might get a good one. Or, go for less hassel and pay a little more for OEM and have fewer headaches and fusterations.

Rated 5star vs Generic. I think Pentax should drop price of these to under $20 though, and drop the fancy OEM cardboard box to lower the price. Nobody really cares about the box for a battery.
