Cokin 52mm Circular Polarizer Digital Pack (Silver Ring) - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter.
The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
A polarizer should be considered a mainstay for anyone who takes their photography seriously. Along with a UV (Ultraviolet) filter, these filters can make the difference between a successful photo and a snapshot. This filter is really the only way to make a blue sky "bluer". It will also help minimize reflections when shooting into glass (i.e.museum and gallery displays, store windows, etc).
Cokin makes a a wide variety of filters to achieve just about any effect you can imagine. This kind of "filter system" offers photographers a cost-effective way to build a collection of standardized filters for any size lens. The Cokin system is available in various size formats to meet any photo or video need.
Note! Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems).

I didn't notice any negative optical side effects when using this filter (vignetting, contrast issues, moire). This filter does a great job reducing or eliminating polarized glare on clouds or cars.Build quality is excellent.

Bringing out some details hidden in digital photos sometimes ruins the sky. This filter helps make your blue skies really blue.
Out here in the West, at altitude, the sky can be a spectacular cobalt blue. To keep as much of that color as possible and make the clouds pop, especially when you just lightly alter a photo, use this filter.

I use this product on my DSLR for landscape photography and too protect my lens from wear and scratches. I use this style of filter on all of my lenses, and while I have seen better filter quality, this one certainly makes a noticeable difference in sky color when taking blue sky shots. Likewise, when you're shooting for reflections off of the water, or views through the water, it is also a big help.

I take mostly outdoor landscape photos while hiking. my previous polarizer didn't allow the lens cap to fit. this one has a deeper ring making it compatible with my lens cap and allowing me to protect the filter while I am hiking.
