Comments about Sony HVR-HD1000P Digital High Definition HDV PAL Camcorder:
I have done four important live jobs so far with the camera and the sound has failed me four times. Really have to know what you are doing to avoid distortion and this is not easy on a live gig. Has manual and auto sound modes. Is great in studio environment with time and control on your side but will not take on another once only chance live gig. Camera looks and feels great and is easy to use but I have owned cheaper video cameras with better sound quality.

Its a great camera with great features. You get what you pay for and it is a very good price for a shoulder mounted HDV. I use this camera for shooting videos, weddings and short films. The look is professional and the shoulder mount is a nice feature as well. You have to adjust the audio controls in the menu settings to avoid any kind of problems with audio quality...

We are going to use the HVR-HD1000P for shooting on our trips to Europe and Africa. The PAL makes it possible for us to use in these countries and leave them a completed program that they can show. [...]

Its a great camera with great features. The only problem I have is that just after using the camera for about four times, it could no longer record a clear audio.

Comments about Sony HVR-HD1000P Digital High Definition HDV PAL Camcorder:
I use this camera for shooting music videos, weddings and short films. The auto focus works best for me then the ring and its menu I love the touch screen features and the fact that it can give me the cinematographer effect. The look is professional and the shoulder mount is a nice feature as well. The sound can be distorted so you're going to have to work with that but other then that I love this camera.

Comments about Sony HVR-HD1000P Digital High Definition HDV PAL Camcorder:
You get what you pay for really. There are very few manual controls on the case of the camera, they are all inbeded onto the touch screen menu. The focus ring can work as many things, focus, exposure, white balance etc. But if you want to adjust the focus AND the exposure for a scene, it gets really inconvenient and slows me down. The auto focus isn't great, and i've used a lot better manual focus rings. The microphone that comes with it cannot play back loud music on auto very well, it becomes destorted, so you have to adjust the controls in the menu settings. It certainly looks the part, it gives HDV which is good and it is a very good price for a shoulder mounted HDV.
